We visited the rainbow 🌈 mountain with ATVs on the 30th of August. We were a party of 4 and our team leader was Shirley. Everything was perfect and well organised. And safe. Shirley was amazing and helpful and fun, and made us feel safe and not worry about a thing. The food was great and the walk from the point where the atvs stopped was not more than 7 minutes to the top (including stops to breath). Highly recommend it!

My group of 8 friends went to Rainbow Mountain today with Carlos, aka Charlie, as our tour guide. He picked us up from our hotel at the appointed time. He was very engaging, friendly, and so very helpful, most especially on occasions that we experienced some symptoms of altitude sickness. He kept our whole group of 14 very safe and was even a very engaging photographer. World Explorer Peru Cusco is the way to go when you want to explore the place. Carlos is a shoo in as a guide. Thank you for such an unforgettable experience!

I have no idea how this company has only 5 star reviews and I refuse to believe its accurate… this was the worst tour company and most dangerous experience of our lives (and this is coming from 2 young, athletic people who are used to mountaineering, rock climbing, etc). Going to be a lengthy review to really explain how horrible this experience was. We should’ve known this company was extremely suspicious in the first place because they were the only tour guide outfit that was doing tours of both Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain, no one else was doing it because of safety concerns during rain season. Anyways, we booked a “hiking” tour of Rainbow Mountain and for some reason we were put with an entire group that booked an ATV tour (we later found out we paid the EXACT same amount as everyone else). Once we got to our destination, we were told we had to hike to the top and everyone else was to take ATVs up.. so everyone left us (including our original guide Agusto) and we began walking up with a different tour guide who wasn’t even supposed to be our guide and didn’t speak any English. Not even halfway up to the top, our guide was picked up by an ATV and just left us entirely alone to finish the hike to the top (not to mention, it was a 6 mile hike and nearly 1500ft elevation gain to the top, with a starting point of 15000ft… that’s insanely dangerous for anyone that isn’t acclimated to the altitude or physically VERY fit). They did not tell us where to go, they just pointed to the top of the mountain while saying “vamos” and laughing at us. Once we got to the top, our entire tour group was nowhere to be found, and neither was our tour guide that randomly got picked up on an ATV and left us. At this point we’re literally freaking out thinking we’re going to be left in the mountains of Peru with no ride back to Cusco. After asking countless other tour groups, we found our way to rainbow mountain and found our tour group and our original tour guide Agusto had no idea we were left entirely alone, and was not in any communication with the other guide who was supposed to accompany us to the top. We later came to find out this same exact situation basically happened to another group on the same day!! Once the tour was finally over we began driving back towards Cusco the same way we came in, and at this point all of the roads had turned to mud. The company easily could have picked us up from the same pick-up point as every other tour company and had a very safe drive back to Cusco but instead we left from our starting point which was an extremely dangerous drive over a mountain pass. At one point, the van got stuck in 3-4ft of mud and they had absolutely no self rescue equipment to get the van unstuck. They had 13 of us get out of the van while they tried to get it out of the mud and everyone literally had to huddle together to stay warm because it was freezing outside (nearly 0 degrees Celsius) and raining. It got to the point where 5 of us had to help them push the van out of the mud while being ankle deep in mud, in the middle of the mountains, with no cell service. We finally get the can unstuck and the driver is speeding around corners on the mountain pass, and riding EXTREMELY close to the edge of the road that was eroding away. Seriously thought we were going to die. All this aside, the “breakfast” and “lunch” they fed us was probably the worst meal we had in our 3 weeks in Peru.. literally we were all joking about it because of how disgusting and horrible it was. I would absolutely never recommend this company to ANYONE, we were borderline considering calling the police to notify them of how irresponsible and dangerous it was for them to take 13 people this route up to red valley when they must’ve known how dangerous it was and that no one your company was willing to do it. Please do not support this company. 0/10 experience. Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain though… 10/10 beauty. Find someone else to take you there.

Eric was our tour guide and he was fantastic! He imparted so much knowledge - loved the full tour, the sites, seeing/hearing the instruments and tasting the cocktail You cannot go wrong choosing this company and hopefully you will be fortunate and Eric will be your guide! Enjoy!

Did the ATV tour of rainbow mountain. They picked me up on time. Gilbert was an amazing tour guide - explaining all the activities, training us on the ATV, and describing all of rainbow mountain. Breakfast and lunch buffets were also great!

Do Not book a tour with this company in this season or any, for that matter. These months are part of the rainy season in Peru and it’s very well known except for tourists that ATVs and even horse back riding to the Rainbow Mountain is extremely dangerous due to poor road conditions and especially because of this company’s lack of resources and skills to keep their customers safe. No walkie talkies, overbooking issues leading to less ATVs available for the people in the tour made this company literally leave behind two couples stranded to fend for themselves, scammed 30soles per person when currently the Ministry of Culture hasn’t instructed which town is actually in charge of collecting entrance fees so in the meantime tour-guides have to obtain a QR code, and due to the melted snow and constant accumulation of rain, mudslides and sinking sand potholes/sections erupted and led to our van getting stuck for almost an hour and left us with ill-prepared guides that also didn’t provide any assurance or alternatives to the dangerous situation. In the end, we the customers came up with multiple ideas and ended up pushing the van after feeling restless and hopeless.
