Tour Overview
This is a seven-day itinerary for a trip to Rwanda. On Day 1, you arrive in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, and are transferred to your chosen accommodation. You have the rest of the day to leisurely explore the city, including the bustling local markets and the Caplaki Craft Co-operative. On Day 2, you depart Kigali and head to Nyungwe Forest National Park, where you stay at the Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel. Here, you can join a guided hike through the dense forest to track chimpanzees. You also have an opportunity to cross the Canopy Walkway, a 200-meter bridge suspended between giant trees, 50 meters above the forest. On Day 3, you continue your chimpanzee trekking experience. During your time in Nyungwe National Park, you'll have the chance to see other primates, birds, and butterflies that are found in the forest. On Day 4, you leave Nyungwe and head to Lake Kivu, where you stay at the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. Here, you can relax on the stunning palm-fringed beaches, kayak on the calm waters of the lake, take a boat tour to the nearby islands, hike in the surrounding hills, or visit Imbabazi Orphanage. On Day 5, you depart Lake Kivu and head to Volcanoes National Park, passing through breathtaking scenery. On arrival, you'll have a briefing about tomorrow's gorilla trek at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel. On Day 6, you venture out to Kinigi, at the foothills of the Virungas, in Parc National des Volcans, where you'll begin your gorilla trek. Your guide and tracker will lead you deep into the forest in search of your allocated gorilla family. When you meet the gorillas, you'll have the chance to spend up to one magical hour quietly observing them. On Day 7, you visit the Genocide Memorial and Education Centre, a permanent memorial to those who were killed during the 1994 genocide, before being transferred to the airport for your flight home.

During your time in Nyungwe National Park, you’ll also have an opportunity to cross the Canopy Walkway, a 200-meter bridge suspended between giant trees, 50 meters above the forest. The walkway offers incredible views of the upper canopy and it is excellent for spotting wildlife. Many of the primates live in trees so you’ll have better chances of locating them from the walkway.
