On the following departure dates, the hotel on Days 6 & 7 will be changed from Gibb’s Farm to The Manor at Ngorongoro: 6 February & 6 March 2019. On the following departure date, the hotel on Days 8-10 will be changed from Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti to Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge. This will involve a direct flight from Manyara to Serengeti without a visit to Olduvai Gorge: 19 June 2019.

As long as we have at least two people booked on an A&K Escorted Tour, it will take place. So you don’t need to worry about a last-minute phone call saying your holiday has to be cancelled. If you’re committed to going, then so are we.
Persons under the age of 16 cannot participate in bush walks (game viewing on foot). Persons over the age of 60 are required to produce a note from their doctor stating they are fit enough for the activity.
Day 1 Arrive Nairobi, Kenya Land in Nairobi and transfer to the luxurious Fairmont The Norfolk. Perhaps Kenya’s most famous hotel, The Norfolk is in the heart of Nairobi, welcoming generations of safari-goers since it first opened on Christmas Day, 1904.
Day 2 Amboseli National Park Today, drive to Amboseli National Park at the base of the soaring, snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest freestanding mountain in the world at 5,895 metres. Set out in search of the region’s spectacular wildlife – African savanna elephant, leopard, cheetah, and hosts of plains game – all roaming freely amid swamps, springs, and a shimmering dried-up lakebed. This evening, gather with fellow guests for a welcome dinner celebrating the start of an unforgettable safari adventure.
Day 3 Amboseli National Park Spend a full day exploring wildlife-rich Amboseli National Park, watching for lion and buffalo. Enjoy a morning on safari before breaking for lunch. This afternoon, make another game drive, capped off with a refreshing sundowner.
Day 4 Tarangire National Park Drive to the Tanzanian border, stopping for lunch in Arusha. From here, fly to Tarangire National Park and settle into your luxurious accommodation. Sanctuary Swala’s large tents are built on raised decks under umbrella acacia trees overlooking the Gurusi flood plains. Expanses of wooded savanna are nurtured by the Tarangire River. Resident herds of impala often graze inside the camp, while excursions through the dusty landscape may be populated by abundant big game, such as lion, elephant, and buffalo, as well as a range of bird species.
Day 5 Tarangire National Park Embark on morning and afternoon game drives, seated six to a vehicle to allow window seats for all. Observe the stunning concentration of herd animals here, such as elephant, zebra, and impala. You may opt for a night safari, available at an additional fee, to spy nocturnal creatures. With specialised lighting, look for African wildcat, leopard, hyena, and lion. You may also see bushbaby, spotted genet, serval, and bat-eared fox. During your stay, partake of a chef’s table experience and learn to prepare local dishes such as ugali, makande, and kachumbari.
Day 6 Ngorongoro Crater Learn how Africans live today, exploring in and around the village of Mto wa Mbu, as you Ride like a Local by tuk-tuk, a major form of transport here. See rice fields and a banana plantation, and try banana beer at a bar. In the village, enjoy a walk through the local market to see the colourful produce on display. After lunch in the village, head to Ngorongoro Crater. Arrive at your restful luxury lodge, set near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, for a tranquil evening and overnight stay.
Day 7 Ngorongoro Crater Set out on a full-day game drive in Ngorongoro Crater. Explore the panoramic, short-grass prairies along the floor of this ancient caldera, home to rare black rhino as well as lion, hyena, and gazelle. The diverse wildlife dwelling within the encircling crater walls led this incredible ‘lost world’ to be recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This afternoon, visit a Maasai village and meet with an elder to learn about local culture and traditions, and witness a traditional beadwork crafting demonstration.
Days 8 - 10 Serengeti National Park Drive to Serengeti National Park, pausing for a privately guided visit to archaeologically rich Olduvai Gorge. As you continue, prepare to witness one of Earth’s most incredible wildlife spectacles – the Great Migration. Every year, millions of herbivores traverse the Serengeti plains in search of water and fresh grass, with hungry predators awaiting them. Over the next two days, take morning and afternoon game drives to observe the phenomenon. You can also opt for a hot-air balloon ride, at an additional cost, for an exciting new perspective on the wildlife.
Day 11 Masai Mara Game Reserve Fly to the Masai Mara, the northern extension of the Serengeti. Settle into Sanctuary Olonana, and take an afternoon game drive. Follow the Mara River to see crocodile, hippo, and other thirsty animals. Over 500 bird species make their home here. Your riverside accommodation, recently rebuilt, is one of the finest safari lodges in Kenya. As well as a great range of on-site amenities, your private veranda offers magnificent views of the Mara River. Tonight, join fellow guests for a scenic sundowner, followed by an elegant dinner.
Days 12 - 13 Masai Mara Game Reserve Spend two full days exploring the open savanna, woodlands, and tree-fringed rivers of the Masai Mara. Look out for unique sights such as leopard stalking along acacia branches overhead, or elephant shielding calves from opportunistic predators. Watch as Maasai tribesmen wander the plains or herd goats and cattle. You can opt for a hot-air balloon ride over the prime game-viewing country at an additional cost. Visit a village and Enkereri Primary School supported by A&K Philanthropy, and learn how AKP’s e-reader programme is improving literacy rates here.
Day 14 Depart Nairobi Fly back to Nairobi and spend the afternoon at leisure in a comfortable dayroom. In the evening, transfer to the airport or begin a post-tour extension to Uganda.
