Join this three-day private tour and discover Yangon city (formerly known as Rangoon) and its main attractions, with a glimpse of its rich culture, historical heritage and archaeological sites. Enforce your local experience joining the devotees to worship the gravity-defying Golden Rock.

Highlights

  • Marble Temple (Kyauktawgyi Buddha): carved out a single piece of white marble quarried in Sagyin Hill

  • As Myanmar believes that white elephants bring peace, stability and prosperity to the nation, there is a small, unmarked park close by Marble Temple called Royal White Elephant Garden

  • Shwedagon Pagoda: according to legend, it was constructed more than 2600 years ago which make it the oldest Buddhist Pagoda in the world and renovated several times before taking its current shape in the 15th century

  • The 8-sided central stupa is 99 meters tall, gilded with gold leaf and is surrounded by 64 smaller stupas

  • Golden Rock (Kyaiktiyo Pagoda): one of the most sacred sites in Myanmar

  • Pilgrims come from far and wide to light a candle, meditate, and worship at this gravity-defying golden rock topped with a stupa

  • The pagoda here is said to hold a hair of the Buddha and Buddhists from across the country come here to pay homage

icon Day 1 : ARRIVAL YANGON
Location:

  Yangon


Upon landing at Yangon International Airport, make your own way to the arrivals hall, where your guide will meet you and will start your introductory tour through Yangon City. The first visit will be at the Marble Temple (Kyauktawgyi Buddha), home to 7.6 m tall Buddha. Shortly afterwards, visit Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, home to a 66-metre long reclining Buddha which is built in 1907 and one of the largest in Myanmar. Experience a traditional cup of Myanmar Tea at a local tea shop (included), a common practice and tradition of socializing within the locals. From here, continue to Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar. Follow the guide’s lead around this massive complex and learn why this temple is so revered. Meet a Buddhist monk at the shrine and experience a private blessing. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the hotel, for check-in.

icon Day 2 : YANGON – GOLDEN ROCK – YANGON (400km – 8hr)

Early morning, after breakfast at the hotel, start your journey to Golden Rock, a well-known Buddhist pilgrimage site in Mon State. This drive will take approx. 4 hours to Kyaiktiyo Base Camp. From the base camp, travel by local open-air truck along a winding road. Experience a cable car ride from mid mountain to the top of the mountain and return. A huge boulder covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff. Golden Rock is one of Myanmar’s most important pilgrimage sites. Offer Gold leaf to the shrine as per local customs. In the afternoon, you will be returned to Yangon, to arrive in the evening at the hotel.

Wake up to one last breakfast at the hotel, and depending on your flight schedule, make the most of your last moments in Yangon at the local shops. Transfer to the airport to continue with your travel arrangements.

Requirements

Visitors of both genders must wear decent clothing to cover the body appropriately when visiting religious places. Shorts and sleeveless tops are not acceptable. This rule is strictly adhered to at all religious sites. Visitors should remove hats, caps, shoes and slippers when entering buildings and sites with religious monuments. Most of these places have a secure facility at the entrance for visitors to leave behind shoes and slippers for a very small fee.

Are the local guides on the tour English speaking?

YES, A friendly and professional tour leader tasked with ensuring the smooth operations of the tour, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the entire trip. His role primarily includes assisting with accommodation and transportation between locations while sharing the knowledge about social and cultural splendours of Sri Lanka.

Is there any option for solo traveller?

CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES

Sri Lanka is a year-round holiday destination with two monsoon seasons so there is a lot of confusion around when is the best time to visit. The weather doesn't run like clockwork here! However, there will rarely be weather so dramatic that it will stand in the way of a brilliant holiday with plenty of warm weather and sunshine.     What is an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)?

    The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is an official authorization for a Short Visit to Sri Lanka issued via an online system. You need ETA if you wish to visit Sri Lanka as a Tourist, on Business or on Transit. No passport copies, documents or photographs are required to obtain ETA. It will cost USD $30. However, during the sometime of the year government offers FREE visa for tourists.
