  • What level of insurance should I obtain?

Travel Insurance is mandatory for all customers looking to travel in Nepal with the Alpine Ramble Treks. However, The Travel Insurance that you are looking at must cover both the medical and emergency evacuation costs. Somehow, we would like to recommend to our valuable clients that your insurance is worth a minimum of USD 100,000. The beauty of the mighty Himalayas comes with great risks. It is always best to prepare for any unforeseen risks that may arise while traveling in the Himalayas. There are many insurance companies that offer travel insurance services over the Internet- you can find them easily to buy at any time. There are a wide variety of insurance companies based in the region. Especially when it comes to trekking in the Himalayas region of Nepal, there is always a narrow chance of minor health issues, injuries, and most importantly – altitude sickness, etc. It is essential that you choose an insurance policy that covers the cost of the helicopter rescue from the mountains in case of major accidents and acute mountain sickness (AMS). During such extreme cases of emergency evacuation, a helicopter service is the only way out of the mountains. This includes a rescue team for both – ground evacuation and rescue. This is why we require your travel insurance to cover the cost of helicopter services and evacuation from the Himalayas (up to 6000m). It is always better to be safe than sorry.

  • Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness as known as acute mountain sickness (A.M.S.) in general may occur when people ascend too quickly normally at altitudes of over 2500 meters above sea level. Our company has been ensured the minimal risk of building in rest days into our trekking itineraries. When you are in a high elevation place most people will feel some effect of altitude, sleeplessness, shortness of breath, and possibly light-headed, which is fairly very common. Acute mountain sickness is very different and normally involves a severe headache, sickness and you can feel that loss of awareness. In almost every possible case there are enough warning signs to take appropriate action. Our company only prefers well trained and experienced guides, in field guide will advise you about any health issues and also altitude sickness while you are on trekking if you have any of this then you should tell to your guide our combine, then they will be suggested you have to use medication for Altitude sickness. Before leaving for the trip also suggest to any of our valuable clients to consult with your Medical Doctor and get advice.

  • When to travel to Nepal

he climate in Nepal varies with its topography and altitude; the climate is from tropical to arctic. Nepal has divided into three regions of Nepal (Tarai region, Hilly region, and Himali region). The low-land Terai region with its maximum altitude of approximately 305m, which lies in the tropical southern part of the country, for instance, has a hot and humid climate that can rise above 45 Degrees Celsius (113 Degrees Fahrenheit) during summer. The hilly region regions are pleasant almost all year round, although winter nights are cool. The mountain region, around an altitude above 3,300m, has an alpine climate with considerably lower temperatures in winter as can be expected. (Autumn) September, October, and November: This season is one of the best trekking seasons in Nepal which offers excellent weather and magnificent mountain views. All the trekking routes are will be very busy during this season. (Spring) March April and May: This season is the second premium trekking season. At this time the temperature goes quite moderate, but this season is especially the rhododendrons (The national flower of Nepal) are in complete blossom and the mountain views are excellent in the mountain region. (Summer)June, July, and August : The summer season provides the preferable season to trek in the rain shadow areas like the upper Mustang, around Annapurna, etc. these regions are out of reach of the rain clouds because of the huge mountains, and unaffected by the monsoon. This time is the best season for forest researchers and botanists, during this time trek raincoats and insect repellents are strictly required. (Winter) December, January, and February: The winter season in Nepal will be cold on high mountain trekking routes but still a suitable time for trekking and hiking at lower altitudes normally under 3000m high.

Embarking on a journey with Alpine Ramble was truly a remarkable experience. Despite the slightly higher cost compared to other travel agencies, the value we received was beyond exceptional. Dil, the founder, demonstrated unparalleled dedication by attentively addressing all our queries and assisting us in completing various preparations, including securing climbing permits. The complimentary airport shuttle service, along with the thoughtful gifts of team-logo hats and T-shirts, as well as the free rental of climbing poles and gear, showcased the team's commitment to ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for us. Throughout our three-day Poonhill trek, our guide, Ayush, displayed a remarkable level of professionalism. He not only ensured that we enjoyed the best meals and accommodations but also consistently monitored our physical well-being. Thanks to Ayush's expertise, we were able to witness the breathtaking beauty of the Annapurna mountain range. Alpine Ramble's dedication to providing top-notch service and creating unforgettable experiences truly set them apart. We are grateful for the memories made and the expertise shared by your team. We will undoubtedly recommend Alpine Ramble to fellow travelers seeking an unparalleled trekking adventure in Nepal. Thank you once again for the exceptional service and for making our trekking journey a truly unforgettable one.

The best trekking company in...

04-Apr-2024

The best trekking company in Nepal! I spent a month in Nepal and did two separate treks with Alpine Ramble – the 11 day Annapurna Circuit and 8 day Everest Base Camp. I did a fair amount of research on trekking companies before booking and Alpine Ramble more than deserves the reputation it has in review sections like these! First up, you have Dil who is the mastermind behind it all. He was really easy to contact via WhatsApp before I arrived. He was able to plan a trip for me that allowed me to see both Annapurna and Everest regions, with enough time for acclimatisation, rest and unforeseen delays. Speaking of which, my flight to Luckla was delayed one day due to weather, which is very common. But this is when Dil went above and beyond. He organised a helicopter to take me the next day, at no additional charge. For context, the other people on the heli had to pay upwards of $300. Now I’m sure Dil wouldn’t be able to do this for every customer, but it just shows how committed he is to making sure you have the best time. It was only one of the best experiences of my life. Now onto the guides and porters. I had Basanta and Prakash for ACT, and Krishna Dhakar and Balkumar for EBC. They were all fantastic. Whether it was playing ludo/cards together or them cheerleading me through some of the more challenging sections of the trek, I will be forever grateful to these guys for making my experience so special. They were all such wonderful people. They set a nice slow hiking pace and checked my oxygen levels every night to reduce the risk of altitude sickness, but also recognised when I could go a bit further. We stayed in great tea houses throughout, and I’d always seem to get the best room on offer. Maybe that’s Dil working his magic! Last thing. You read and hear a lot about poor working conditions and exploitation in Nepal. It was really important to me that this wasn’t the case for my trip and I can confirm that Alpine Ramble treats all its staff fairly. From limits on how heavy the porters’ bags can be, to the 10% that goes to charity, Alpine Ramble seems very ethical. I was delighted to hear that one of my guide’s (very smart) sons was studying Computer Science in the US. It gave me confidence that my money was being fairly distributed. Thank you so much to everyone at Alpine Ramble, I’ll be back one day!

Island peak Trek with Prem...

12-Apr-2024

Island peak Trek with Prem & climb with Ombraz were unforgettable and my husband and I felt like we were in competent hands the entire time. Prem is an honest, energetic, and passionate man who we were very lucky to have guide us. Prem took care of us like family, and made sure to show us the best of the trek by getting us started early while the trails were quiet & the skies were clear, and even taking us on some “bonus”/acclimatization hikes to see some more amazing spots not on our scheduled route. He made sure we had warm tea with “biscuits” every day, and helped advise us on the best way to purchase/consume water and food so we would stay healthy. Prem has many years of experience and that showed not only with his expertise & knowledge, but also in his relationships with every tea house owner & many guides we passed along the way! Ombraz (hoping I spelled that right), though we only had lead us for 24 hours during the climbing portion, was highly knowledgeable about the mountain and technical skills necessary. His calm demeanor and initiative to assist were key in helping get me up the mountain while I struggled slightly with the altitude.

11-Mar-2024

I recently embarked on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Alpine Ramble Treks, and I must say, it was an experience of a lifetime. From the moment I reached out to inquire about the trek to the final farewell at the end of the journey, every aspect of my adventure was meticulously handled by the Dil Gurung and Laxman Gurung with other amazing team members. One of the most commendable aspects of my experience was the professionalism and expertise of the guides and staff. They were not only knowledgeable about the trekking routes and local culture but also deeply passionate about sharing their love for the Himalayas with every trekker. Their enthusiasm was infectious and added an extra layer of enjoyment to the journey. Additionally, the logistics and organization were top-notch. From transportation to accommodation and meals along the trail, everything was well-planned and executed flawlessly. It was never an easy task to handle 15 of us with age ranging from 12 to 55 years old. I never once had to worry about the practicalities, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the breathtaking beauty of the Annapurna region. The fruits and snacks provided for the entire trekking journey is an extraordinary service which made us different from other trekkers. Moreover, the personalized attention and care provided by the team were truly heartwarming. Whether it was ensuring our safety on challenging trails or accommodating special dietary needs, they went above and beyond to ensure that each trekker felt valued and supported throughout the journey. This is especially important when we were trekking in the challenging weather condition in February with snow falls and rain falls. They also ensure our health condition is fit for upcoming treks by using oximeter. Lastly, I cannot emphasize enough the sheer magnificence of the Annapurna Base Camp trek itself. The stunning vistas of snow-capped peaks, lush forests, and picturesque villages left me awe-struck at every turn. It's an experience that will stay etched in my memory forever, thanks in no small part to the exceptional service provided by Alpine Ramble Treks. In conclusion, if you're considering trekking in the Annapurna region, I wholeheartedly recommend choosing Alpine Ramble Treks (especially Dil Gurung and Laxman Gurung). Their dedication to providing a memorable and enriching experience is truly unmatched, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have journeyed with them. Here's to many more adventures with this outstanding team!

13-Oct-2023

I'm glad I chose the right company; it has become a beautiful time in my life that I will never forget. It's indescribable in words because I trekked the ABC with four of my friends together. Safety was my top priority, and they indeed delivered. They took excellent care of each one of us, ensuring we ate well and maintained good health. When my friends felt unwell, they reacted quickly and provided a solution, which reassured me because I knew we would be safe. They were more like friends than “guides” and “porters”. During the mountain climb, we got to know each other and shared stories and laughter, turning each day in the mountains into a remarkably ordinary and joyful experience. My friends and I had no issues with accommodation and food. Don't imagine staying in a hotel, where everything necessary for a good night's sleep was provided, and the food options were plentiful. I could feel their passion for preparing food. In the end, the biggest motivation between my friends and me was, 'Have you decided what to have for lunch?' Ps. Please try the Lemon honey ice; it was very refreshing. Pineapple juice, Ginger tea, and mint tea are all my favourite drinks. I'm also very grateful to Dil for handling everything well. During the busy season the responses might be slow, but rest assured and give them more patience that Dil will get back to your messages as soon as possible. He's a very kind, friendly, and responsible person. And trust me he will certainly handle your journey thoroughly for you. Lastly, I want to say that life is short, and safety is essential when we seek adventure. I am very thankful for Alpine Ramble's assistance and for creating a pleasant and unforgettable holiday for me and my friends. Watching the happiness of each of my friends, I am deeply moved. I know that life only offers one chance, and travelling and adventuring together is not easy. It might be just once in a lifetime, but the memories will last a lifetime. Thank you very much, Boss "Dil Gurung," for the warm welcome it made us fall in love with Nepal quickly, thanks for all the arrangements and all the documents you prepared and for leading the company so well. Thank you very much to our team guide "Ayush Gurung" (our big brother always told us to slow down or rest and drink more water) for taking care of each of us, helping us carry our bags when we were tired, and ensuring our well-being and safety and make us so happy. Thank you very much to our three heroes of porters: "Bhim," "Naraja," and "Anlish." Thank you for helping my friends when they needed it. I greatly respect and appreciate all of you. You are true heroes in my heart. Thank you and with much appreciation. तपाईंलाई धेरै धन्यवाद With all my love, Arron Liu 12/10/2023 “Happiness is only real, when shared.”-Christopher McCandless

Wow, what a fantastic experience!...

12-Apr-2024

Wow, what a fantastic experience! Even before arriving to Nepal, Dil answered all my questions on whatsapp to make sure we were prepared and at ease for our upcoming trip. We also had to make our flight back for work so Alpine Ramble were very accommodating and allowed us to skip one acclimatisation day so that we would definitely make it back on time. We had a wonderful guide called Saugat. He was very knowledgeable as well as funny and kept us entertained and safe at all times. The trek itself was beautiful. The teahouses were all great with good food and decent beds. I actually got very sick the night after we reached base camp and had to call a helicopter to go to hospital. Alpine Ramble were incredible and helped me with contacting the insurance to make sure they would come quickly. Saugat and our porter also looked after me and stayed with me all night, checking oxygen levels etc. We had a great celebratory dinner back in Kathmandu too with lots of fun dancing and great food. Would 100% recommend this company - we had the most incredible time!

Coming from the Philippines which is just few meters above sea level, I thought this trip would be very challenging for me and my sister. However, with our great tour guide Dilman and, our strong and reliable porter Suk, we were able to complete the trip and have a great adventure. Our tour guide, Dilman, us a fun guy full of amazing stories and a man who you can call a friend. He was able to help us ride the helicopter on a cheaper price with the use of his charm and connection🤣. Our porter, Suk, is a very reliable, strong man! He always make sure things are done, and he just gives you a vibe of a friend who you can always count on. I honestly couldn't imagine myself finishing this trip without these guys in my team. Indeed, this trip is one of the most memorable one not just because of the beautiful sceneries but because of the stories we shared.

My guide Prasan and porter Dill were amazing. They were super friendly, helpful, hospitable, from the first encourager picking me up at the airport, to the trek, to the farewell dinner. They took good care of me. Prasan was professional and knowledgeable. He explained to me the views, the customs and the cultures to me. He could flexibly discuss the itinerary with me. Without them, the trek wouldn’t be successful or at least enjoyable.

15-Apr-2024

I don't even know how to write this review I'm just so grateful for the whole Alpine Ramble team who led our family trip to Annapurna Basecamp 🥹. Our guide, Ahyush, and our team of porters Dil, Elias, and Roshan were so incredible ❤️. Not only did they take great care of us, they were so kind and went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed and were comfortable. I don't think we were the easiest group for them either as total newcomers to trekking, especially with the moderate level hike up to ABC. I found them through a glowing review from the YouTuber Counting Countries and they lived up to his glowing review. Dil, the founder was also extremely responsive to all of our questions and helped us customize our trip. He also met with us in person when we arrived in Kathmandu to go through the details with us. Really appreciate his attentiveness to make sure our trip went without a hitch. Whatever level trekker you are don't hesitate to reach out to Alpine Ramble — they'll find a solution that's right for you. Looking forward to more trips with them in the future!
