Tour Overview

This 6 days rhino conservation safari is dedicated to exploring one of the most successful rhino conservancies in Kenya. Solio ranch is home to more than 250 white rhinos and about 80 black rhinos live here. In addition, there is a diversity of species that results from the different habitats in the park. Open steppes, bush savannahs, acacia forests and swamps not only house more than 100 lions, but also buffalo herds, waterbuck, giraffes, impala herds and a unique bird life. Thus, this park offers ideal opportunities for nature lovers and photographers. During this safari, we also visit the Aberdare Mountains, where the rare giant forest hog lives. Other highlights include a walk with a wild giraffe herd and a safari in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy which is home to the last two surviving Northern white rhino females. Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where you’ll be met by your Arrow Adventures representative and after a brief meet and greet, drive you to your hotel in Nairobi where you will relax in preparation for your 6 days rhino conservation safari.

Day 1 : Nairobi - Nyeri

Location: Rhino Watch Safari Lodge

Accommodation: Camp, Lodge

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast and a short brief by the Arrow Adventures safari guide, you’ll embark on your safari heading to the central highlands of Kenya. You’ll enjoy the landscape along the way as you drive through pineapple plantations to coffee and tea farms. On a clear morning you will also be lucky to sight the snow-capped Mt. Kenya, the second highest mountain in Africa. Arrive in good time for your lunch after which you’ll enjoy an afternoon bird walk as you marvel at the wildlife around.

Day 2 : Solio Ranch

Location: Solio Lodge

Accommodation: Camp, Lodge

The privately managed conservation reserve has been dedicated to protecting white and black rhinos for decades. Solio ranch is home to more than 250 white rhinos and about 80 black rhinos live here, more than 100 lions, also buffalo herds, waterbuck, giraffes, impala herds and a unique bird life. In addition, there is a diversity of species that results from the different habitats in the park. On a full day safari you will be able discover a wide variety of wildlife.

Day 3 : Aberdare National Park

Location: Aberdares National Park Entrance Gate

On this day we take you to the mountain side forest of the Aberdare National park. The park boasts of a thick rain forest, spectacular waterfall and you’ll also marvel at the moorland high up the mountain. You will also be lucky to elephants feeding in the bushes. It is not easy to find, but it is even more impressive if you spot an African giant forest hog in the thicket. You will have an opportunity to walk down the trails to catch a closer glimpse of the waterfalls. If you are lucky you will also see rhinos and a leopard.

Day 4 : Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Location: Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Accommodation: Camp

After breakfast you’ll check out and proceed on a short drive to Ol pejeta Conservancy– the home of the last two surviving Northern white rhinos. In addition to the rhinoceros conservation project, there is also a project on chimpanzees here. Enjoy a gamed drive as you head to your camp. After lunch you relax till latter in the afternoon when you set out for you game drive to discover the chimpanzees in their sanctuary. If you’re lucky, you’ll see other members of the Big Five today. Day 5 : Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Location: Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Accommodation: Camp

Set out early to search for the early risers and also predators as they head to retire to escape the heat of the day. You will have the chance to visit the boma and have a talk with conservationists and caregivers of the only remaining Northern white rhinos. You’ll also be able to understand the rhino conservation and the challenges involved.

Day 6 : Return To Nairobi

It depends on the tie of the day and the weather, but you'll most likely see it early in the morning.

What if I don't like the tented camps?

The destinations have a wide variety of accommodation facilities. You can choose between a tented camp and a lodge.
Are The rhinos in Ol Pejeta and Solio ranch wild?

Yes, Most of the rhinos are left to roam freely in the forest. Only the ones that need special attention are in enclosed areas.

Will the accommodation included meet local health and safety regulations?

The accommodation facilities are regulated by the ministry of health and ministry of Tourism and they all meet the health and safety regulations.
What happens if I need to change my holiday date once I’ve booked?

You can change your holiday dates by emailing us directly. But this has to be done 30 days prior.
Do you operate a “single share” option and how does it work?

Yes. In case of a single share, there is a supplement that we charge
What policies are in place for Covid-19?

GENERAL TRAVEL REQUIREMENT • All travelers above the age of 12 years arriving into the country through any point of entry will be required to show proof of either COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test conducted not more than 72 hours before departure. NB: Vaccination means having received the prescribed doses of specific vaccine latest shot at least fourteen (14) days before arrival (not including the day of vaccination). • Travelers below the age of twelve (12) years shall be exempt from the requirements of a vaccination certificate or Pre departure PCR test. • Any traveler above the age of twelve (12) arriving at any point of entry with no proof of vaccination or a PCR test or those with flu-like symptoms shall be subjected to a rapid antigen test at their own cost of 30 USD. Any person who tests positive on antigen RDT will be subjected to entry PCR test at their own further cost of 50 USD and self-isolate as per MOH guidance on isolation. • Any traveler arriving at any port of entry into Kenya with flu-like symptoms will be required to fill the passenger locator form on the ‘jitenge’ platform: https://ears.health.go.ke/airline_registration/ and to undergo rapid antigen test at own cost regardless of age or vaccination status. If positive on antigen test they will be required to undergo a COVID-19 PCR test own cost. • Passengers traveling out of the country, will be required to abide by the particular travel, health and COVID-19 related requirements of the transit and destination country • Pre-departure RDT or PCR testing may be considered at the discretion of any of the airlines departing from or terminating in Kenya. • All travellers must obtain their visa in advance, online via: www.evisa.go.ke

We organize privately guided safaris. But in case you have to join a group it will be maybe single travelers or couples.

This trip trumped my expectations. We where lucky to see many of the animals and experience the wonderful nature in Amboseli. But the highlight of the experience must have been Justus himself, who fixed the logistics, gave good advice, shared his knowledge, arranged the safaris, and went out of his way to help us with planning the trip and being someone you can rely on during the journey.
