Guatemala is a country with high diversity in many aspects, one of which is its varied geographical regions, with different climates and ecosystems. This is a trip especially made for all water sports & activities enthusiasts. In this tour you will travel around 4 unique destinations in Guatemala, as well as visit several paradisiacal island in the Cays of Belize where you will spend the last nights of this tour. In this 13-day trip you will visit several emblematic destinations in Guatemala, which have incredible bodies of water where you can practice a great variety of activities, such as Atitlán and its beautiful lake, the most beautiful lake in the world according to National Geographic. You'll also visit one of the most beautiful beaches on the Pacific coast of Guatemala: El Paredón Beach, a great spot for surfers. You will then cross the country to the Caribbean side of Guatemala, into the department of Izabal and its Río Dulce. Finally, we will go by boat to our island in the Belizean Cays area, where you will continue practising a great variety of water sports while discovering the wide variety of fish and reefs.

Day 1 : Tour Start
Location: Guatemala City Metropolitan Area

You will check into your hotel in Guatemala City. This city is the largest and most developed in Central America, with tall buildings in its hotel and executive zone, where you will be staying. You will rest this day at your hotel, since the next day we will be moving to Atitlán, where our activities will begin.

Day 2 : First Stop Atitlán
Location: Panajachel, San Marcos La Laguna

We will begin our journey by heading to Panajachel. Here we will find Lake Atitlán, considered one of the most beautiful in the world. It reaches a total of 130 square kilometres of water body, and it' s surrounded by 3 volcanoes, as well as several Mayan (indigenous) villages, each one of them with its unique personality and distinct ways of living. Being surrounded by 12 different villages is one of the reasons why you can find a lot of culture here, as well as a wide variety of different ecological activities. Upon arrival, we will have our welcome lunch and in the afternoon we will move on to San Marcos, a beautiful little town known for its yoga and vegan practices. Here, after a short walk, we will arrive at Tzankujil Park, where if you wish, you can jump from a 7-meter-high wooden platform into the crystal clear waters of the lake. Don't forget to bring your swimsuit.

Day 3 : Kayaking And Wake-Surfing At Lake Atitlán
Location: Santa Catarina Palopó

We will start this day with a Kayak Tour in which you will visit another unique town: Santa Catarina Palopó. This town is famous for its hot springs and colourful houses, which show different artistic patterns when seen from the lake.

In the afternoon we will start our second water activity of the day: wake-surfing around the beautiful lake Atitlán. The rest of the day will be free so you can enjoy what the town of Panajachel and its markets have to offer.

Day 4 : Paredón, The Surfers Area
Location: El Paredon

We will say goodbye to Atitlán and take our bus to the next destination of the trip: El Paredón Beach. This is a beautiful and peaceful beach, which has been developing more and more over the last few years. Besides the excellent climate, wonderful scenery and delicious food, this is considered one of the most appropriate places to surf in Guatemala.

After settling in your hotel, you will start your first Surfing Workshop, taught by local experts who have participated and won prizes in international championships. With the experience of our instructors, you will begin to learn everything you need to know in order to ride your first waves.

After the workshop, which can be quite exhausting for some, you will have the rest of the day free so you can relax, explore and enjoy the tropical climate of one of the most beautiful beaches of the Pacific coast of the country.

Day 5 : Mangroves In El Paredón
Location: El Paredon

During the morning you will participate in a paddle-boarding tour around the mangroves that exist in the area. This activity will allow you to enter the unique natural ecosystem of the place, and get to know the different species of birds, turtles, and crustaceans found there. Then we will take a walking tour along the beach where we will show you the most important places in El Paredón, to which you will be able to return on your own during your free time in this destination. You will find a variety of restaurants that prepare delicious dishes using fresh local ingredients. Then we will start our second Surfing Workshop in which our instructors will continue sharing with you all the basics you need to work on to become an expert on the board little by little.

After the workshop, the rest of the day will be free for you to recover your energy and continue enjoying the friendly and relaxed atmosphere that the local communities and businesses in El Paredón have to offer.

Day 6 : Relax At El Paredón
Location: El Paredon

We recognise the importance of resting and recovering energy after any physical effort, as well as your desire to explore El Paredón Beach on your own as you continue to relax in the tropical climate, so the sixth day of this trip will be free for you to enjoy this unique beach as you prefer. You will be able to relax along the beautiful beach, enjoy a swim in the sea or in the pool of your hotel, as well as choose to participate in many activities available in the area, such as ping pong, kayaking, swimming pool, paddle-boarding (both in the channel and in the ocean), beach soccer, beach volleyball and many others.

Day 7 : Let's Move To Izabal
Location: Izabal

We will go to Izabal Department, where you will find Lake Izabal, Rio Dulce and El Golfete. Río Dulce is located in the protected area “Parque Nacional Río Dulce” (Rio Dulce National Park), which is in charge of protecting the local ecosystem since 1955. With a distance of approximately 43 kilometres long, Rio Dulce functions as a gateway to the Caribbean Sea. This entire area offers a unique scenic beauty, as well as vegetation that provides a home for many species of native and migratory birds.

Being this a somewhat long drive, since we will be crossing the country from the Pacific coast to the Caribbean Sea, we will make a stop during lunchtime in Guatemala City. In the late afternoon you will arrive at your hotel where you will settle in and spend the night.

Day 8 : Boat Tour Around Izabal
Location: Lake El Golfete, Río Tatín
Accommodation: Hotel

The time has come to explore the Rio Dulce area. On this day you will participate in a boat tour towards the Golfete and the birth of Tatín River. You will get to know the mangroves, the birds of the area, and if we are lucky you will get to see a manatee, which is an emblematic animal of Rio Dulce.

Then you will return to your hotel where you will be able to relax and continue enjoying what Rio Dulce has to offer. In your beautiful eco-hotel you will also be able to enjoy various activities such as: trampolines, hanging bridges, canopy, kayaking, aqua-bicycle and others.

Day 9 : Nymph Garden, Izabal
Location: Lake El Golfete

On this day we will continue to explore the rest of Rio Dulce and Lake El Golfete. This time we will visit the Nymph Garden, which is famous among visitors for its beautiful colour combination. You will also visit the “Isla de los Pájaros” (Bird Island), where we will be able to appreciate the nature and the different species of local birds. Finally, you will visit the colourful town of Livingston, famous for its Garifuna customs, music and delicious food.

After finishing our last visits along Rio Dulce and El Golfete, we will head towards the last destination of our tour: the paradisiacal Belizean Cays! You will arrive at a private cay (island) where you will spend the next 3 nights. Get ready for some incredible Caribbean sceneries!

Day 10 : Snorkelling At Belize

On this day we will make a boat expedition to a nearby cay. Along the way you will always have your personal snorkelling equipment at your disposal, which you can use to explore and be amazed by the great amount of fish and reefs that exist in the area. After, our expedition we will return to our island.

The rest of the day will be free for you to enjoy the island. There are several activities you can do during your leisure time such as beach volleyball, sunbathing, snorkelling, swimming, among others.

Day 11 : The Sunken Ship In Belize
Location: Belize

In the morning we will go to explore another cay close to ours. Then we will return to our island to have lunch and rest a bit. Shortly after we will participate in a snorkelling tour to a sunken ship that has been in the area for many years, becoming a new ecosystem to various species of fish and corals.

Being the last night of our trip together, we will have a farewell dinner under the beautiful starry sky. The rest of the night will be free.

Day 12 : Return To Guatemala City

Our trip is nearing its end, so you will enjoy a last delicious breakfast and enjoy your private island for a little longer. You can spend this time as you prefer, either packing, or relaxing on the beach, or doing your favourite activities. Then we will take our boat back to Izabal Department, where our bus will be waiting to take us back to Guatemala City, where you can rest at your hotel.
