Tour Overview

We offer you a world-class safari in the Serengeti where you will witness one of earth's greatest migration events. One million plus wildebeest begin their migration south from 1st of July through to mid-September. Your tour includes the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater and the wild Tarangire National Park. The Serengeti hosts the second largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world, which helps secure it as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, and as one of the ten natural travel wonders of the world. Distance: 49km/30mi

Day 2 : Drive Into Tarangire National Park For Game Drive

Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park; game drive and lunch in the park. Leave Tarangire park for nearby Karatu at the base of Ngorongoro Crater Rim. Karatu sits on the edge of Ngorongoro Crater which you must bypass on your trip north but return on the way back.
Accommodation: Country Lodge, Karatu;
Distance: 140km/87mi

Day 3 : Lake Manyara

Location: Lake Manyara National Park

Accommodation: Hotel, Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Welcome to Lake Manyara National Park, well known for the tree climbing lions, the soda ash lake that attracts thousands and pink flamingos, one of Tanzania’s biggest elephant population and breathtaking scenery!
Situated between Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley ridge the national park is administered by the Tanzania National Parks Authority, and covers an area of 325 km2 (125 sq mi) including about 230 km2 (89 sq mi) lake surface. More than 350 bird species have been observed on the lake.
Our game drive takes you through the forests along the lake's edge where you will see the elephants and perhaps the tree-sleeping lions who rest in the afternoon out of the heat of the day. The national park is also famous for its hippo pool where you can view them from a platform provided for visitors.
In the evening we take you to the town of Karatu on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater for a night of relaxation at your hotel or campsite.

Day 4 : Ngorongoro Crater

Location: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Accommodation: Hotel, Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The magical Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage Site is a protected national conservation area located 112 mi (ca. 180 km) west of Arusha in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania. The Ngorongoro Crater (caldera) is a large volcanic caldera.
The crater, which formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago, is ca. 2,001 ft (0.61 km) ft feet deep and its floor covers 260 square kilometres (100 square miles). Estimates of the height of the original volcano range from 4,500 to 5,800 metres ca. 19,029 ft (ca. 6 km) ft to 19,000 feet (ca. 6 km) high.
As you descend into the crater after seeing its full extent from the rim, you begin to get the feel of a very special and unique African landscape. The variety of wildlife is extensive. Wildlife viewing is excellent in the crater throughout the year.
In the evening we take you back up to the rim for an evening and night of relaxation at your hotel.

Day 5 : Game Drive, Ngorongoro Crater

Location: Ngorongoro Crater

Accommodation: Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

An early morning game drive in the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater allows you to see the wildlife at it's freshest and hungriest! From early morning the lions are on the prowl followed by the hyenas, all looking for their breakfast. Depending on the time of year you may overtake the Serengeti migration south. This leg can be customizable at the time of the safari.
On our way back to your hotel in Arusha we take you on a cultural tour (prices included) of a Maasai Village. This is all Maasai country. They will welcome you into their BOMA where you learn about their lifestyles and traditions.
Distance travelled: 154km/96mi

Day 6 - 8 : Zanzibar

Location: Tembo House Hotel

Accommodation: Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

From day 6-9 on Zanzibar Island — what can we say! With its long history of the spice trade and the more infamous Arabic slave trade, Zanzibar, Tanzania's holiday island offers you lazy walks in the narrow, oriental streets of the capital, Stone town or the long, silver-white beaches along the east coast.

Here you can spend your day snorkelling or diving, if you are qualified, or simply messing about on boats, maybe to do some dolphin spotting.

Three or fours days on Zanzibar island will wind you down to a snail's pace.

Again, this leg is customizable. We suggest a hotel but you can choose your own, budget to luxury. For this combined safari/tour we suggest a two stage flight — arrival in Kilimanjaro international Airport but departure from Zanzibar International Airport. Contact your travel agent for options.

Day 9 : Zanzibar

Location: Karume International Airport

Accommodation: Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

This is your wrap up day. Enjoy your last breakfast and stroll before we take you to the airport for your return flight.*
*On booking your international flights we recommend your incoming flight to Kilimanjaro (JRO) and your return from Zanzibar (ZNZ). This should be quite straightforward. Contact us for further details.

Baba Kilimanjaro Tours and Safaris

29-Mar-2020

Last year our dear friends, Bill and Mary asked if we were interested in a safari in Tanzania, so of course we said sure! A safari was never on our bucket list, but we do love adventure Bill planned everything with our guide Alex. Bill and his sons climbed Mt Kilimanjaro a few years ago. That’s when he met Alex Ulomi, the owner and guide of Baba Kilimanjaro. Alex and Bill over months worked out every detail all of which were fantastic Alex’s depth of knowledge regarding the animals, culture and parks were amazing. If you ever opt for an adventure of a lifetime do it with the best guide ever Alex, Baba Kilimanjaro. It was a pleasure to have met such a wonderful people Alex and his beautiful wife Agnes. Thank you for making this world such a better place. We enjoyed every second. This was beyond our wildest expectations! We look forward to our next trip to gorgeous country Tanzania!! With much appreciation and love.

Migration Safari

25-Mar-2020

I went to the Safari trip with a friend to see the great migration. It was the best trip of my life. Alex is a wonderful tour guide — he knows the areas and the animal behaviors very well. He is very patient and devoted. Therefore, we have seen almost all the African animals very closely, big and small. And the wildebeest Mara river crossing was extremely amazing! We are soooo happy about the trip.
