Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 5D/4N

It's hard to pick a favourite moment from this hike - we all enjoyed it thoroughly. The food was really impressive and our entire 'support' team were so friendly and always smiling. Special thanks to our guide who was really patient with us during the trek. The changing scenery from mountains to jungle is really amazing.

Once we started hiking it became apparent that we had an excellent guide (Vidal). My parents are 59 years old and in fairly good condition, compound that with the fact that we live at sea level, and they could be in for a rough trip. During the entire trek, Vidal made sure he paid attention to the people in the front of the group, while still making sure my parents were within their comfort zone and still able to have an enjoyable trip. Along the trek, we would make stops and Vidal would give us some local information or just a small history lesson about the spot where we stood. I honestly believe his personality and leadership helped make this trip a success for us.

I highly recommend this guide and tour company! The trek up the Salkantay route was super beautiful, though a few of us in the group struggled a little with the altitude. We couldn't have done it without our patient and hilarious guide. The food from our cook was actually amazing and we loved that we got to try some local fare. Very different from the camping food I'm used to.

The highlight of the trek was machu picchu, but not just because the inca city, I was litteraly the first up there!

Such an amazing holiday experience. My husband and I had an issue with our checked luggage when we got to Cusco, before the trek, which held some essential items but Vidal advised us as to what Bamba could help with (renting trek poles, sleeping bag, etc), where to find other items in Cusco, and then he also went as far as to during the week help contact our hotel that we had stayed at previously to see if the airport had contacted them to say that our luggage was found.
