Tour Overview

The Cotswolds is a uniquely English walking destination with colourful farmland and winding country lanes lined with dry stone walls leading to sleepy medieval villages of honey-coloured stone and thatched cottages. Think of a typical image of England and it is likely to be found in the Cotswolds! Join our small group walking tour to stroll through bright yellow mustard fields surrounded by dry stone walls and along winding country lanes that lead to scattered dreamy medieval villages like Stanton and Broadway. We look forward to being your hosts, to walking up and along grassy escarpments through colourful mustard fields and across enchanting countryside dotted with ancient Oak and Beech trees. Among the highlights are visits to Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill with a landscaped park by Capability Brown, formal gardens at Sudeley castle where the Catherine Parr, 6th wife King Henry VIII is buried, the ruins of Hailes Abbey, raided and destroyed by Henry’s soldiers. Roman influence also ran deep in England and after our pretty walk to Chedworth Roman Villa you can really step back in time and let your imagination run wild.

Highlights

  • Explore the enchanting gardens of the beautifully preserved Sudeley Castle, resting place of Katherine Parr, the sixth wife of Henry VIII.

  • Enjoy classic English walking through gentle hills, wide-open meadows, serene green woodland and sheep-dotted pastures.

  • Chipping Campden, Stow, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Broadway.

  • Magnificent Blenheim Palace and gardens, Sudeley Castle, Hailes Abbey ruins

  • Follow some of England’s most renowned walking trails

Oh, my...what didn't you do to make this a memorable experience! “From the moment you picked us up, I felt that I had found long, lost relatives...my tribe! You were so knowledgeable, but fun-loving, too! We dined, we sang, we laughed and walked (oh my! Did we EVER walk!) The picnics were so memorable...especially the one in Yanworth in the lovely churchyard! Great job, Pino! You gave us the BEST of everything, and I wouldn't have changed a thing! Well, maybe the “” lieu with a view”” in the pea field with the artificial guns blasting to scare away the birds!”

Having walked with Pino and Caroline once before (Tuscany) we knew what to expect. We did not think they could improve on our last experience, but amazingly they did! Pino and Caroline have an amazing ability to go above and beyond. Like fine wine, their walking tours have matured to absolute perfection. We enjoyed a truly wonderful week of learning and exploring with stories, laughter and impromptu songs on the trail. It was a pleasure to reconnect with these treasured friends once again. It was even better than we had imagined!

Our family, ranging in age from 8 to 74, had the time of our lives on our Cotswolds vacation. Caroline and Pino were knowledgeable, organized, generous, and most of all, flexible as we walked in sun and rain through the beautiful countryside. Couldn't have asked for better companions. Great value. Wonderful meals, charming inns, beautiful countryside.
