Tour Overview

The spectacular Dolomites Mountain Range is a unique natural paradise in northeastern Italy. Dolomite rock is a white or coloured limestone formed by marine deposits and coral 230 million years ago. Forced up by tectonic events they were then sculpted into snow-clad peaks, deep valleys and lakes by retreating ice ages. Enjoy landscapes of alpine meadows and evergreen & deciduous larch and spruce woods, dwarfed by soaring peaks and glaciers. In late spring and early summer anemone, pasque flower, gentian and the beautiful globe flower abound; habitat for ibex, roe deer, chamois; marmots, eagles and huge anthills. Sleep restfully in quiet rooms in delightfully luxurious alpine hotels with a SPA, sauna and swimming pool facilities. Enjoy the wonderful variety of Tyrolean cuisine, the atmosphere of mountain refuges and charming villages. Our Dolomites walks are invigorating and among incredible scenery.

Highlights

  • We walk through trenches and fortifications of the Austrian-Italian battles during WW1.

  • Spectacular scenery in the Fanes National park.

The area in which we hike evokes such magical and fairy tale feelings. As we eat lunch and watch for marmots dashing in and out of the rocks, you can almost hear songs in the breeze.

Caroline and Pino were kind, extremely well-prepared, and fun-loving guides. We so enjoyed getting to know them--this added a whole other dimension to the trip. Spectacularly beautiful deserving of its UNESCO World Heritage designation. The history and cultural richness of the area added to the experience.

I have been fortunate to have made two trips with Caspin Journeys. Both times every detail was well planned. Hotels and meals where carefully selected and of the highest quality. The pace of travel adjusted to the group's wishes. The sights were spectacular and truly memorable. Each overall experience exceeded all my expectations. The best part was the warmth and friendship extended by the tour guides who are also the owners of the company. I highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a luxurious yet active vacation seeing spectacular sights.

"Caspin Journeys is truly a unique travel experience. Caroline and Pino's attention to detail and personal touches showed in every aspect of our journey. Being a small group allowed us to travel in their comfortable, roomy touring van. They chose beautiful unique boutique hotels. The food was delicious local classic cuisine accompanied by great wines. Their knowledge of the area and the balance of activity and sightseeing was great. We were also lucky to be accompanied by their newest addition to their company their son, Antonio. We had a terrific time and can see why everyone in our group had either travelled with them before or were referred by friends that had. I look forward to choosing another trip with them!"

Some very best trips ML and I have made over the many years of travelling have been with Caspin Journeys. You and Pino and now your family are really in a class all your own and a model for small group travel experiences. We particularly remember with relish the month we spent at Cortona at your place in that marvellous space on your grounds that had its own kitchen whilst we studied Italian in Cortona. The day trips we took after class which you and Pino assisted us in planning were truly some of the best times we have had on a trip….ever. I hope that the affliction the world is currently experiencing will resolve next year. I will be happy to kick 2020 to the side as a year to be forgotten. All the best to both of you and thanks again for so many memories over the years. Gary and Mary Lou
