Itinerary

Expand All
Day 1: A Unique Place To Start Our Trip
Location: Foz do Iguaçu

Our tour begins in the city of Foz do Iguaçu. Its waterfalls, called Iguazu Falls, literally separate Brazil from its neighboring countries. Iguazu is the largest waterfall system in the world. This is the perfect destination to start our trip.

Day 2: A Helicopter Ride Over One Of The Biggest Waterfalls On Earth
Location: Foz do Iguaçu

Before taking a helicopter ride over the gigantic waterfalls, we explore the Brazilian side by foot as well as discover the creatures that live within the park: jaguars, butterflies, raccoons, monkeys, coral snakes, toucans, parrots and yellow-breasted caimans.

Day 3: Exploring Argentina's Side Of The Falls & Confronting The Falls By Boat
Location: Iguazu Falls, Puerto Iguazú

Today we make a daytrip to the Argentinean side of the waterfalls. The falls are shared by the Iguazu National Park (Argentina) and Iguaçu National Park (Brazil). The two parks were designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1984 and 1987, respectively.

Day 4: Arriving On The Country's Most Visited Island
Location: Florianópolis

After flying from Foz do Iguaçu to Florianopolis and be taken to the nearby island of Santa Catarina, we are provided with a guided tour of the south. The highlights today are the hiking trails and the historic village of Ribeirao da Ilha. Campeche Island, which is a 45-minute boat ride away, is also a highlight. Note, however, visiting this island is included on today’s tour only when the weather permits. If it does not, then we go swimming at a beach called Ribeirao da Ilha.

Day 5: Glimmering Beaches, Great Nightlife, Wild Nature, Latin Flare & European Influence
Location: Florianópolis

Home to fancy hotels, resorts, charming hostels, beach clubs and a lively nightlife scene, it should come as no surprise that Santa Catarina is Brazil’s most visited island. Today we are taken on a guided tour around the central and eastern areas. The highlights are the charming government buildings, the colonial-era churches, the public market, 1 lagoon and 3 exotic beaches.

Day 6: The World's Largest Tropical Wetland Area
Location: Pantanal

Today we fly from the city of Florianopolis to the city of Campo Grande and are then driven to a tropical wetland area called Pantanal Matogrossense National Park. Part of what makes this segment of our tour so enrichening is the experience of lodging within the park. Note that all meals are included by the ecolodge during our stay, as are all the boat tours, of course.

Day 7: Horseback Riding Through A Lagoon & Jungle
Location: Pantanal

Pantanal encompasses the world's largest tropical wetland area and the world's largest flooded grasslands. Along with exploring the area by boat, we go horseback riding on a farm. Expect to get wet, as the horses step through a lagoon.

Day 8: An Animal Kingdom Located Within A Huge Ecosystem
Location: Pantanal, Campo Grande

We spend today exploring Pantanal some more. The highlight is seeing so much wildlife. Animals commonly spotted are jaguars, lowland tapirs, giant anteaters, deer, caimans, black howler monkeys and southern tamanduas. In the evening, we return to the city of Campo Grande and sleep at a hotel relatively near to the airport.

Day 9: A Colonial Gem Of A Town
Location: Ouro Preto

We fly this morning from the city of Campo Grande to the city of Belo Horizonte and are then driven to the colonial town of Ouro Preto. After getting situation at the hotel, we are taken to the nearby colonial town of Mariana. There we are provided with a guided tour. Mariana is the oldest town in the state of Minas Gerais. It was founded on July 16, 1696. Mariana retains the characteristics of a baroque town, with its churches, historic buildings and museums.

Day 10: Picturesque Architecture & Cobblestone Streets
Location: Ouro Preto, Rio de Janeiro

Before returning to the city of Belo Horizonte so we can fly out to the city of Rio de Janeiro, we explore Ouro Preto in depth with our tour guide. This former colony owes to the riches that were once extracted from below it. Now a focal point of arts and education, Ouro Preto was once an important center for mining and government. Fortunately, its history has left it with attractive baroque buildings and lasting ambiance. Although this steep town’s sites are a bit spread out and are otherwise church-centric (23 churches to be exact), there’s something to be said about Ouro Preto being one of Brazil’s most visited urban destinations. The narrow and stone-paved streets generally and the spectacular panorama views of fine architecture especially are enough reasons to come here. Ouro Preto is one of the most authentic Portuguese town settlements in not only the state of Minas Gerais but in all of Brazil.

Day 11: The Fashionable Hotspot Where People Style & Profile
Location: Rio de Janeiro, Armação dos Búzios

Today we make a daytrip from the city of Rio de Janeiro to a beach resort called Armação dos Buzios (a.k.a. Buzios). There we are provided with a boat tour of the area. Lunch and snorkeling are included on today’s tour. Along with the island of Santa Catarina, Buzios is the place in Brazil to ‘see and be seen’, with its fashionable scene and good-looking people.

Day 12: Brazil's Green Coastline
Location: Rio de Janeiro, Ilha Grande

As a daytrip from the city of Rio de Janeiro, we are taken along Costa Verde (meaning the ‘Green Coast’). The beaches and islands along the way are incredible. Today’s highlights are the islands surrounding a municipality called Angra dos Reis and an island called Ilha Grande. Lunch, a boat ride and snorkeling are included on today’s tour.

Day 13: Our Tour Ends In South America's Most Popular City
Location: Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro is the final destination on our tour around South Brazil. Transportation will be arranged for you to reach the airport. If you have the extra time, we strongly recommend you stick around. If you really want to cover all of the highlights in Rio de Janeiro, then you will need about 6.5 days. However, few people have that sort of time. Upon request, we can provide you with a guided sightseeing tour, for as many days as you wish. We can also provide you with a spectacular paragliding tour over the city. Ask us for details.
Rio de Janeiro is undoubtedly Brazil’s showcase destination…and rightfully so. Called the cidade maravilhosa (marvelous city), Rio de Janeiro is renowned for its spectacular mountainous setting, stunning scenery, a tropical rainforest, exotic white-sand beaches complimented by clear waters, water sports activities, plenty of fascinating colonial architecture, chic and carefree people, festive music and an almost overwhelming nightlife scene. Spend your mornings sightseeing, afternoons tanning and evenings partying in the Lapa district, where street bands are performing to locals who love to sing and celebrate seemingly as no other culture can. As a famous song goes, Rio is a city ‘where music and passion are always in fashion’.

Some of our customers want simple and clean but ultimately cheap rooms. Some of our customers want 4-star hotels and are willing to pay more. Others want nothing short of 5-star extravagance. There isn’t a way to uphold ONE standard for hotels in our travel packages considering everyone has a different budget. What we CAN uphold are the standard and quality of our tours, all of which offer nothing short of a first-class experience. Again, upon request, we can book lodging for all nights on this tour. Let us know and we will provide you with pricing options.
