Though all of Italy is renowned for its gastronomic delights, the northern regions of the county are particularly proud of the delicious delicacies produced from their luscious green landscape. Sample sumptuous treats in antiquated Italian cities, from red-bricked Bologna (home to the world’s oldest university), to Turin (Italy’s original capital and home to the renowned Ferrero Roche factory), and picture-perfect Pavia, as well as catching a glimpse of where the food comes from. One of the highlights will be exploring the rolling countryside of Piedmont, a region covered in sheets of vineyards, olive groves, and romantic medieval towns and castles. Here you will have the chance to hunt for truffles with a trust worthy truffle dog, as well as the opportunity visit boutique wineries and larger producers in equal measure, giving you an insight into what goes into making the perfect bottle of Barolo.

The city, home of the oldest university in the western world, has precious cultural life and intriguing historical legacy, linked to the Etruscans, then the Gauls and Romans. You'll visit the Piazza Maggiore, with the Basilica di San Petronio. Today, you will reach the hills around Modena, where you will spend the following 1 night.
We will stop in Modena for a short walking of the heart of the city and a visit to a traditional Balsamic Vinegar cellar with commented tasting, followed by lunch with tigelle (typical bread) and ideal cold cuts. In the afternoon, we will visit the marvelous Ferrari Museum, then we will continue to your charming country-relais. This evening, you will enjoy a gourmet dinner facing the beautiful view of the hills. Overnight in Modena.

Day 4 : Monday - The Culture Of Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese And Parma Ham

Today, motor to Pavia. On the way, we will visit a cheese factory of Parmigiano-Reggiano PDO near Reggio Emilia with a tasting of this delicious food. Then, we will visit Torrechiara castle and its village imbued with loves and battles. Lunch will be served in a small farmhouse near the Castle. Later, we will reach Parma for a guided visit of the town. Continue to Pavia where we will arrive late afternoon. You will enjoy an exquisite dinner served in your wine estate.

After delicious breakfast visit of Pavia, a magnificent ancient city not far from Milan.
Every spot in Pavia has its story. A Romanesque church embraces the remains of Sant’Agostino. A Basilica witnesses the coronation of Federico Barbarossa as King of Italy. Big thinkers and innovative concepts wander here between the loggia and the Cortile delle Magnolie within the University established in 1361 by Emperor Carlo IV. Amongst the oldest in Italy, science, history, and the avant-garde are here, from the University Library to the History Museum and the Botanical Garden, with its impressive greenhouse.
Explore the museums inside the Visconti Castle, enjoy the view of Ponte della Libertà , beautiful in the night when the arches are illuminated by the artist Marco Lodola. The Gothic tomb from the 14th century, where Sant’Agostino rests, is conserved in San Pietro in Ciel d’Oro. Meanwhile, Barbarossa was coronated within the incredible Basilica of San Michele Maggiore. Day 6 : Wednesday - Barolo / Roero Region / Truffle Tradition / Castles Of Barolo

Our historical day start with drive south to discover the land of Barolo and its magnificent hills typically covered with vines. The color of the landscape that surrounds you will assume different breathtaking shades of green, yellow, and orange according the season. In the morning, we will meet our experienced truffle hunter who will let you discover the secrets of his century-old profession, together with his dog, the real prowess of his job. He will take you to walk in the typical woods of the Roero region, explaining you some of the secrets of truffle hunting, you will learn which kind of trees help truffles to grow, what is the best kind of soil for them and how to spot them, together with the priceless help of the truffle dog. We will have a delicious lunch based on Truffle Tradition.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Castle of Barolo, then we will enjoy a wine tasting at Marchesi di Barolo Winery. Today visit of Turin, where the idea of a unique country was cultivated by Savoia Royal family, a dream achieved only 150 years ago. Here you will visit the incredible Venaria Reale, a magnificent Royal Palace. Turin is also home of great culinary tradition. We will have lunch in a traditional restaurant where we will taste the most beautiful local recipes. The city is also famous for his chocolate, we are not far from Ferrero Factory.
We will visit the ancient "chocolaterie". For whom that are intrigued by Ancient Egypt, Turin is home of the second most extensive collection of vestiges of this civilization. You will have the chance to visit the Museum of Ancient Egypt or lost yourself in the characteristic narrow streets of the heart of the town. Return to Alba late afternoon. This evening, the dinner will be served in a charming winery.
