Tour Overview
Western Mongolia is well known as home for the nomadic eagle hunters who could keep their ancient traditional hunting with the golden eagles. Nowadays, eagle hunting is alive because it passes from dad to son, from generation to generation. It is our honour to introduce our traditions and provide and unique experience in this remote corner of the world! Sagsai Eagle Festival or Altai Eagle Festival as well known as the smaller eagle festival takes a place in the small village of Sagsai. The Festival is the second-biggest festival in this region after the Golden Eagle Festival. The dates are usually in mid-September. For this year it will be held on 17th, 18th September. There are a couple of reasons why this festival is much better than the Golden Eagle Festival (GEF). The first reason is the weather; mid-September is still nice weather for hiking and horse trekking. The second reason is fewer tourists: during the bigger eagle festival, it is so much traffic everywhere. The hotels are fully booked and the price for tickets raise very high. Sagsai eagle festival is more comfortable and affordable. And the third reason is; absolutely the same highlights on both festivals. Both festivals have the same activities as traditional horse games and camel races etc. So, we highly recommend you to choose exactly the Sagsai Eagle festival. During your visit to western Mongolia, you will be guided by an English-speaking tour guide. The trip was based on the experience cultures of nomadic people. Please feel free to contact nomads, and it is absolutely OK to filming and photo-shooting. The trip will be started and end in Olgii town. Our team will meet you on your arrival at the local airport. The domestic flight tickets you can easily book in advance. If your arrival date is a day before of tour starting date, it is OK you can be a guest in our place without any extra charge. If you have any questions about booking a domestic flight or transportation in Ulaanbaatar please let us know. We are always happy to be helpful. Enjoy your best-planned Sagsai Eagle Festival trip!
