Finish your morning coffee; store your bags and push the “GO” button on your pre-programmed GPS to leave Edinburgh north over the impressive Forth Road Bridge. Soon you will join the Old Military Road taking you over the seemingly endless scenic roads of the Cairngorms National Park and Scotland's highest mountain pass. Visit your first Scottish Castle nestled between forest inside the Scottish hills before heading towards the summer residence of the British royal family at Balmoral.
From Balmoral follow the Scottish Whiskey Trail — the name wakes expectations, but wait until you’ve seen the roads. Enjoy a guided tour at a Scottish Whiskey Distillery before heading towards the capital of the Scottish Highlands and take a sample to enjoy at your hotel.

Waking up to another exciting day of driving — you will soon follow the first official leg of the iconic NC500 Route from coast to coast via the shores of Loch Ness. From the remains of Urghurt Castle you can look out for the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Further down your scenic route you will soon spot Scotland’s most iconic man made sight — Eilean Donan Castle that graces many postcards from the Highlands. ​ ⚠️The famous road to Applecross (also known as Bealach Na Ba Pass) is optional since the road is very narrow. We do not recommend the road for unexperienced drivers. ​ The bridge connecting the Highlands with the Isle of Skye will be your gateway to reach your hotel; where you can zip your Whiskey sample from the other day in front of the fireplace. ​

Wake up and loop over the largest and northernmost of the major islands in the Inner Hebrides. Skye is home to some of Scotland's most iconic landscapes that enchant with mountain ranges, miles of dramatic coastline, waterfalls and a captivating history. ​ Kilt Rock and the Mealt Falls are an absolute highlight before you get to drive LEG 2 — of the North Coast 500 Route. The very same route that also McLaren uses in their driving tour. ​ Discover the natural beauty and scenic driving roads during a relaxed day of driving and enjoy a an authentic lunch.

There's nothing quite like the freedom of the long open road. The scenery of today's drive will speak for itself. ​ Never-ending back roads, wide meandering country tracks and beautiful bends through some of Scotland's finest coastal scenery without any distractions — all the way up to Kylesku bridge. This is the most northern point of your personal NC500 Route. Beyond this point the route gets a little narrow and uneventful. ​ Enjoy your lunch at the harbour of Ullapool and visit the local museum before you had back to the capital of the Scottish Highlands.

The magnificence of the Glen Coe region are the many small natural waterfalls and mountains nestled in a sometimes moonlike landscape. Take lunch at one of Scotlands' most iconic castles at Inverlochy before you drive past Ben Navis; Scotland's highest mountain. Before you head back into Edinburgh we highly recommend a visit the iconic Stirling Castle — one of the largest and most important castles in Scotland, both historically and architecturally. ​ Back to your hotel in Edinburgh we will collect the car from you and you can spend the evening at leisure.
