Our Mediterranian route is the perfect way to explore this exciting region’s absolute best destinations. Experience authentic European backpacking, travelling with a small group of likeminded people.
You’ll have between one and three nights in each city, making this the ultimate way to experience all of the region’s best destinations. With a blend of major cities and smaller towns, unmissable included activities and an exciting library of optional excursions, as well as plenty of opportunities for self-guided exploring, this is the ultimate way to see the Mediterranean at its best.
Travelling with you throughout, your tour leader will ensure your trip goes smoothly; making sure you arrive in each destination safely. They’ll also co-ordinate essential and optional activities such as walking tours and pub crawls.

Itinerary
Day 1 : Kalimera, Chania!
Location: Chania
Kick-off your tour in stunning Chania! Often referred to as ‘the Cretan soul’, it’s easy to fall in love with this coastal town’s sapphire waters, twisting cobbled streets and bustling waterfront restaurants. Meet your Euroventure tour leader and the rest of your group at the hostel and then head out to explore for the evening!
Day 2 : The Pink Beach
Location: Elafonisi Beach
The next day, you've an early start as you set off on your included day trip of Elafonisi Island. Spend the day swimming in the crystal-clear waters before heading back to Chania to enjoy some free time in the evning to explore. Why not grab a ticket to the Attikon outdoor cinema to see a blockbuster film (optional activity), or watch something a bit more cultural at the Kipos showing in the National Garden. Then, head to Daliani Street for pubs and bars.
Day 3 : Your Last Day In Chania
Location: Chania
On your last day, start with some free time to explore either alone or with your group. Try local cuisines at the Agora food market or visit a local bakery for some traditional Greek bougatsa before heading for your ferry to Athens.
Day 4 : Kalispera, Athens
Location: Athens
Next, the ferry to Athens! You'll arrive late evening, and be thrown straight into the hussle and bussle of Greece's Capital! Athens is one of Greece’s most popular destinations for a reason- a hotspot for culture, history and traditional art, this is a city that should be on any explorer’s bucket list.
Day 5 : Explore Ancient Athens
Location: Athens
The following morning the group will be taken to the famous Acropolis and Parthenon - 2 incredible sights to behold. You'll have the rest of the day free to explore. Head out and take in some of the capital’s vibrant street art, walk around Syntagma square and see Evzones Acropolis or book on to an optional tour of the incredible Temple of Olympian Zeus.
Day 6 : Free Time In Athens
Location: Athens
You'll have this day free to do whatever you like! Head out and take in some of the capital’s vibrant street art, walk around Syntagma square and see Evzones Acropolis or book on to an optional tour of the incredible Temple of Olympian Zeus. Then grab a bite with a view on Apostolou Pavlou Street, walk to the top of Filopappou Hill for stunning sunset vistas or head for drinks and live music at Kapnikarea or A for Athens Bar to end your final night in Athens!
Day 7 : Say Goodbye To Greece
Location: Bari
Your final day - soak in all the sights you haven't got to see yet before you head onto the night ferry to Bari. Your Italian escape begins with a short coach journey from Athens to Patras. From Patras you'll be catching a night ferry to Bari. Enjoy a buffet-style dinner and watch the sunset from the top deck. Get a good nights sleep before you arrive in Bari. Finally, your last journey is the train from Bari to Rome!
Day 8 : Ciao, Roma!
Location: Rome
You'll arrive in Rome around midday, where you'll have the rest of the day free to spend exploring the rich history of the city. If you're looking for something unique and special, you could take a stroll up to Aventine Hill for some stunning views, then walk up another 100 meters to a large door with a small keyhole...you will not be disappointed.
Day 9 : Meet The Newest Members Of The Group!
Location: Rome
The next day you'll meet the group who'll be joining the Italy part of the tour. Be sure to grab some traditional pizza and pasta at Rifugio Romano, or head for some drinks at YellowBar.
Day 10 : Explore The Sistine Chapel
Location: Rome
On your third day, you'll be taken to your included activity - the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Get ready to soak up and marvel at the jaw-dropping art and history! You'll then have the rest of the day free. Don't miss the Colosseum and Roman Forum, these tickets sell out pretty quick, so make sure you book these in advance!
Day 11 : Next Stop, Florence
Location: Florence
Next stop Florence- this city is the epicentre of art history (even some supermarkets hold treasured art pieces!). Your first day there could be spent exploring the gardens of Bobilli, or the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, or simply strolling through the endless streets. When you're hungry, you can grab a bite to eat at Central Market, a large indoor food market serving everything from fresh handmade pasta to vegan poke bowls. This place does not disappoint!
Day 12 : Fancy A Wine Tour?
Location: Florence
The included activity for Florence is a Chianti Wine Tour. The group will head out in the afternoon and spend a few hours there admiring the beautiful vineyard and green scenery. Return in the late evening and feel like an Italian wine conossiour! The rest of the time there is yours - we recommend watching the sunset from Piazzale Michelangelo, where there's usually some jazzy live music.
Day 13 : Explore The Gorgeous Venice
Location: Venice
Venice is hands-down the most romantic city in Italy! You can simply stoll around for hours, or sit outside with an Aperol Spritz just watching the Venetian life go by - the definition of 'Il Dolce far niente'.
Day 14 : Travel In Style - On A Dreamy Gondola
Location: Venice
The next day will be the group activity - a dreamy gondola ride through to the grand canal. You'll then have some free time to explore the city - be sure to book a ticket to Scala Contarini del Bovolo to see some great views! Watch the sky turn from blue to yellow to a deep pink as the sun sets from the Rialto Bridge, then enjoy some delicious, local seafood from one of the many incredible restaurants. This is the last day of the Italy group tour, so have a proper send off at Anda's-hostel-turned-club!
Day 15 : Visit To Murano, Burano And Torcello
Location: Venice
The day after will be the last day for the rest of the Med tour, you'll have another included activity to the islands just off from Venice- Murano, Burano and Torcello. Watch a traditional glassblower make a horse in under 5 minutes, enjoy the colorful houses on the canal and see the impressive mosaics in Santa Maria Assunta church.
Day 16 : Quick Stop In Nice!
Location: Nice
Now for a quick stop in Nice! This beautiful city in the South of France is full of colourful buildings, stunning sea views and delicious cuisine. You'll have the first evening free to grab some food around the Old Town, then maybe hit Wayne's Bar for live music, some drinks and a boogie on the tables if that's your thing!
Day 17 : Scuba Dive Time!
Location: Nice
The next day you'll have the morning free, then its scuba diving time! You'll be taken on a boat around 40 minutes from the Port, where you'll get your gear on and go swimming with the fish in the coral reef. This is truely a unique experience. You'll have the rest of the evening free to relax with some French wine, ready for the trip to Barcelona the following day.
Day 18 : Bon Dia, Barcelona!
Location: Barcelona
Bon dia, Barcelona! You'll arrive in the late afternoon, which gives you time to recharge with some obligatory tapas! Venture down Las Ramblas or to the Gothic Quarter to see the most lively parts!
Day 19 : An Ode To Gaudi
Location: Barcelona
Day two will be yours to explore the Creatan Capital however you like. Seek out Gaudi's many buildings, take the cable cars up to Montjuic Castle, or simply stroll through the parks. In the evening, trek up to the Bunkers for an unbeatable view of the sunset, which you could enjoy with a beer or empanada which are often being sold there!
Day 20 : Visit The Sagrada Familia
Location: Barcelona
On the final day, we'll visit the Sagrada Familia, with Skip the Line tickets included and the afternoon yours to spend how you please!
Day 21 : The City Of Orange Trees!
Location: Seville
Next, Seville - the city of Orange trees! Here you'll have plenty of free time to explore all the eccentric buildings, immaculate patios and tapas bars as you like! For your included activity, we'll head over to the home of Flamenco and visit the Triana neighbourhood to catch an authetic show.
Day 22 : Your Final Day In Seville
Location: Seville
Be sure to get tickets into the Royal Alcazar Palace and the Plaza de Espana on your last day - these are some of the most unique and interesting buildings Spain has to offer! Relax with a glass of orange wine and tapas down Alameda de Hercules street. Make sure you leave enough time to check out the spectacular Catedral de Sevilla - the largest gothic church in the world!
Day 23 : Not Too Far To Faro
Location: Faro
From the city of Seville to the soft sand and sunsoaked coast of the Algarve. Here, you'll have time to relax on the beach and wonder through the Old Town, then stop for a drink at the bustling Irish Bar!
Day 24 : Enjoy A Faro Boat Trip
Location: Faro
The included activity in Faro is a boat trip to the small quiet islands surrounding Faro. Be sure to look out for the flamingos along the way! The rest of the evening is yours to spend it how you wish.
Day 25 : On To Lisbon!
Location: Lisbon
From Faro, we continue to Lisbon, one of the oldest capital cities in Europe. There is plenty to do in this city, even hopping on the number 28 tram is an experience in itself! You'll have your first day free to explore everything the city has to offer.
Day 26 : Hippo Trip!
Location: Lisbon
Then, the next day is the group activity...a HIPPO tour - we'll say no more for now. This wraps up around mid-afternoon, and the rest of the time in Lisbon is yours.
Day 27 : Your Last Stop
Location: Porto
Your final stop- Porto. This is arguably one of the most underrated cities in Portugal. This hillside town offers delicious seafood, authentic Port wine, and lots and lots of steps.
Day 28 : Explore Porto
Location: Porto
The first day is yours to explore, you can ride the cable car and soak up the gorgeous views, or just stroll up and down the markets near Luis I Bridge, eating Pasteis de Nata on the go. End the evening with a boogie in any one of the bars in downtown Porto - take it steady as the last day of the tour approaches!
Day 29 : Finish Off With Some Port In Porto!
Location: Porto
Wake up the next morning feeling fresh and head off for some wine tasting (not included)! Although the grapes are picked and squashed outside of Porto, the wine is then brought to Porto to cure for many months, and turn into Port. The majority of these wineries offer guided tours with tasting at the end. Port wine is an acquired taste, but its a must-do! The group tour ends with the last supper (all included) before going your separate ways the next day.

Can I join the tour once it has departed?
Sadly not. We require at least 35 days notice before you can join any tour, so we have enough time to arrange everything to make sure your trip runs smoothly.

What documents will I receive before I travel?
We'll be in touch around 4 weeks before your trip, with a request for you to complete a couple of forms for us. From there, in the run up to your trip, we'll provide your PDF travel pack and information about your meeting point etc, before the WhatsApp group is created around a week before you depart.

What happens if I need to change my holiday date once I’ve booked?
Your trip becomes non-refundable and non-amendable within 90 days of your trip starting. If you need to change before that, please get in touch and we'll see what we can do to help. Your deposit remains non-refundable in such an event.
