The route starts with incredible views of Trentino's dramatic mountains, cycling on relatively easy roads and tracks along the Adige River. On reaching the northern shore of Lake Garda, the views of one of the most famous Italian lakes is unforgettable. A ferry cruise on the lake gives us the opportunity to take in these wonderful vistas before continuing the ride through the beautiful cities of Verona, Padova and finally the canals and waterways of Venice.

Highlights

  • Relax on a boat trip across Lake Garda

  • Discover the fascinating cities of Verona, Padova and Venice

  • Cycle through stunning Dolomite scenery

Day 1 : Start Trento.

Location: Trentino

Accommodation: Hotel

Meals Included: No Meals

The trip starts in Trento, province of Trentino-Alto Adige nestled in the

Adige River Valley. A cosmopolitan city and a centre for industry, education,

science and finance, Trento is one of the wealthiest and most prosperous

cities in Italy boasting an atmospheric historic centre adorned by well

preserved Medieval and Renaissance buildings. The group usually arrives in

the evening and after check in there may be time to go into town before we

have our evening meal and trip briefing.

Day 2 : Morning Train To Bolzano, Capital City Of The South Tyrol. Cycle On Quiet Roads Following The Adige River Back To Trento.

Location: Bolzano, Trento

Accommodation: Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

After breakfast, we take a short train ride (40 mins) to Bolzano, the

capital city of the South Tyrol surrounded by the region's powerful peaks. In

2012 Bolzano was voted the city with the best quality of life in the whole of

Italy. We have the opportunity to familiarise ourselves with the bikes whilst

taking a short tour around the historic centre. From here we will cycle south

along the Adige River, following quiet undulating roads, with an overall

ascent of approximately 300m. Cycling through orchards and vineyards, we pass

Lake Caldaro and the lovely villages of Ora, Egna and Salorno. This area is

well known for its wine production, which accounts for three-quarters of the

production of the entire South Tyrol. We arrive back in Trento late afternoon

and spend a second night at our central hotel.

Day 3 : Continue Riding Along The River To Lake Garda. A 2.5 Hrs Ferry Cruise Takes Us To The South Shore Of The Lake.

Location: Rovereto, Mori, Torbole, Riva del Garda, Desenzano del Garda

Accommodation: Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

We continue along the Adige until we reach Rovereto and Mori. From here, we

head west towards the northern shores of Lake Gard. After some short ascents,

we cycle down to Torbole and then onto the elegant resort of Riva del Garda,

offering plenty of bars and restaurants along the lake shore and a lovely

beach. Later in the afternoon we take the ferry to the southern end of the

lake, leaving Trentino and heading towards the Veneto region. The cruise on

the lake gives us the opportunity to enjoy the splendid landscape and relax

before we reach our final destination of the day, Desenzano, where we take a

short walk from the ferry port to reach our hotel for the night.

Day 4 : From Lake Garda, We Cycle To Verona, Made Famous By Shakespeare’S Romeo And Juliet.

Location: Province of Verona

Meals Included: Breakfast

Cycling mainly on quiet roads and cycle paths today, we make our way to the

legendary city of Verona. Located on the river Adige, Verona is arguably the

most beautiful city in Veneto. Its famous arena is one of the many Roman

monuments we can discover there. Other places of interest are the Basilica

San Zeno and of course Juliet's house and the famous balcony!

destination for the day: Vicenza. The old city centre is a jewel of

Renaissance architecture: private palaces, public buildings and the Basilica

are testaments to the work of one of Italy's most renowned architects: Andrea

Palladio. A visit to the best ice-cream parlour in Vicenza is a great reward

after today's ride!

I travelled from New Zealand and joined this tour on my own. I met a great group from the UK and had the most fantastic time the entire week. I would recommend this tour to everyone, even those who do not cycle a great deal as the trip was mostly down hill on excellent cycle paths and secondary country roads. The views were amazing..

A really beautiful ride. Only a couple of Challenging Hills. Our guide, Michele, found the most amazing places to eat and his knowledge of all the areas we visited was insightful. We had a very happy/social and quite fit group, who were always very supportive. The various stops along the way were breath taking. The trip along Lake Garda - magic

This was my first vacation since I was a little girl and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. This trip included so much natural beauty, history, and cultural exposure that I feel I got more exposure to Italy in just a week than some people get in a month. I didn't find the trip to be terribly physically challenging, which enabled me to appreciate the beautiful scenery and company that much more.

My partner and I have been on several group walking and cycling holidays but this was the most enjoyable to date, in large part due to our excellent tour leader, Michele, but also due to the group itself. Michele has excellent local knowledge ranging across the history, architecture and culture of the areas and towns we visited as well as where to eat really good lunches and dinners. We all much appreciated the frequent opportunities to indulge in ice-cream.

Having never done a cycling holiday before, I needn’t have been apprehensive. The riding was easier than I imagined it to be, going through beautiful countryside and visiting historic towns (albeit for short overnight stops) was just fantastic. Sadly, we missed the longest and most challenging day cycling due to bad weather which was a disappointment but Michele did his best to ensure we still got to do things during that day. The overall company of the group was great, there were lots of laughs and Michele was a superb leader. It proved to be a memorable trip and I thoroughly recommend it.

This was a truly outstanding tour with the most exceptional tour guide - Michele Quaresimin. I have already recommended this tour to numerous friends. It's a great way of getting a taste of the Tyrol and Italy. I'd also highly recommend the Puglia trip with Michele and the Girolibero bicycles! All round excellence.

This really is a great trip - with a good amount of cycling with some challenging climbs to get the heart and legs working. I love the fact that every day was busy with so much to see and do. The scenery during the rides was varied and very beautiful. The towns we visited were all full of history and culture whether it was Trento, Lake Garda, Verona, Vicenza, Padova or Venice.

This was my first cycling holiday with a group , normally I cycle self guided which allows me time to stop and stare and take photographs. From day one I found myself way behind the other members, my pace was averaging 19 - 20 kph, which is above the advertised “Moderate: 13-16km/8-10miles an hour”, but this was not fast enough. I must emphasise that for me, it was not a problem as exodus provide some excellent maps and I am used to cycling alone so I never felt lost. However, I still had a great 6 days, saw some brilliant scenery passed though great villages and towns. The restaurants and cafes we stopped at provided excellent choice of food and drinks at a reasonable price. All hotels were comfortable and well located. Evening meals with this diverse group were in well chosen restaurants and I thoroughly enjoyed their company as well as the food and drinks
