Tour Overview
The mini continent of Gran Canaria, so called because of its diversity of landscape, from lush green forests and valleys, towering mountains, desert like dunes and white sandy beaches. La Palma, nicknamed La Isla Bonita (the pretty Isle), is smaller and again features a vast amount of diverse scenery, from dense cloud forest to volcanic landscapes with twisted rock formations and black sand beaches. On this 7 night holiday you experience the best of both islands and the diversity of the incredible landscapes. In Gran Canaria, you walk through evergreen canyons with jungle-like vegetation, citrus groves with heady scents of lemons and oranges and explore the pretty town of Firgas with its stepped promenade waterfall. Discover the peaks of Gran Canaria with magnificent views all around and the Roque Nublo, an enormous monolith known as an emblem of the island before descending through pine forests filled with local broom. After your flight to La Palma, you can take a short walk in the dense prehistoric laurel forest and on your full days walking in La Palma, the routes are all about the volcanos and of course, the views. Your walks ascend and descend around the volcanic landscape with magnificent views over the Caldera craters and pass through volcanic ash fields and pine forests. Walk towards the centre of the crater; the Caldera de Taburiente, passing ancient tobacco plantations as you descend to the Playa de Taburiente, perhaps take the opportunity to catch your breath before continuing along the Angustias gorge. From the highest point on the island the Roque de Muchachos you'll descend along the Caldera rim with imposing cliffs and more spectacular views passing the impressive basaltic dam; Pared de Roberto and Degollada de Franceses with lookouts over both sides of the island. Please note routes may vary dependent on the recent volcanic activity on the island.

Food
Canarian dishes tend to be simple and elegant, owing much to sun-ripened tropical fruits such as paw-paw, prickly pear and bananas, local vegetables such as sweetcorn and potatoes and fresh fish such as moray and snapper.
Specialities include conejo al salmorejo (slow cooked rabbit with garlic, paprika and chili); rancho canario (a chickpea meaty soup), ropa vieja (chicken, pork and or beef stew); chocos (cuttlefish); and crema de puerros y bubangos (cream of leek and prawn stew). The most popular fish are members of the sea bass family - cherne, cabrilla or merluza are common, and you may find grilled swordfish (espada a la plancha), as well as calamares (squid), gambas (prawns) and pulpo (octopus).
Accommodation
The hotels you'll be staying in are a mix of 3 star and 4-star, both perfect beachfront locations.
