The culture of every country is often shown on their tables and can be seen in their kitchens. French wine, Italian cuisine or Spanish Paella have to be part of every visit in one of those countries. Thinking of the Alps it gets a bit more difficult to combine the beautiful countryside with specialities on the table. Nevertheless, you will find out how rich and delicious the Tyrolean cuisine can be. The base camp of this tour is a great mountain hut which combines modern comfort and traditional building. And of course a great view over the surrounding mountains from the terrace at your breakfast will be a perfect start into this day. Part of this tour is a walk over the mountains to a traditional mountain hut. At one of those huts you will taste traditional meals made out of the products the farmers make themselves. Visiting a small dairy production on the second day and a day trip to Austria's highest bakery at the Café 3.440 at Pitztal Glacier will round up this culinary tour. (both optional) And what makes it unique is a cooking lesson with a Tyrolean cook who inspired people between the Alps and Cape Town.

Day 1 : Ellmau - Above All!

The place is unique and there will nobody else be around it. You will arrive up the mountain above Ellmau and enjoy the view and the peaceful landscape for the first time.
Have a coffee on the terrace or stroll around a bit through the nearby fields and forests.
Day 2 : Söll

From our home we have a walk over the mountains (approx. 1,5 hours each way) to an old mountain hut. The farmers still come up here from the valley with their cows to stay for the summer. They produce their own cheese, bake traditional bread and collect mushrooms and berries in the nearby forests.
You will not just visit them and see how they make their cheese but also taste some traditional specialities. They will never taste as good after a walk over the gentle mountains of Kitzbüheler Alps.
Day 3 : Sankt Leonhard Im Pitztal

Today you choose between more relaxation on the mountain nearby your flat or visit one of the most impressive restaurants up a mountain worldwide. The Café 3.440 is Austria's highest café. The impressive view over the glaciers to Tyrol's highest mountain "Wildspitze" will be as special as the visit at the highest bakery in Austria. At an altitude higher than 3000 m above sea level it is - depending on the weather - often quite tricky to bake Sachertorte or Apfelstrudel as well as making Kaiserschmarrn. How it has to be done will be shown by the baker at Pitztal Glacier.
Back home at your flat everything will be prepared for a culinary highlight. Chef Hans Koller will offer you a four-course-meal produced out of local ingredients and with a lot of feeling how to combine all those herbs and berries to beef. As a chef he worked between Tirol and South Africa and now he will give you the chance to enjoy his extravagant meals or even join him to cook it.
Day 4 : Ellmau

Enjoy the last day with a small walking tour, a ride on the E-Bike or just to sit in the sun.
In the afternoon your transfer will bring you back to one of the train stations or airports mentioned before.

If it is possible to changing to another date we will do that for you without any additional cost. Incase there is no other possibility at the same year we will have to keep the prepayment as a cancellation fee.
