Tour Overview

The ruins of Ephesus attract travelers from all over the world, therefore every year almost two million tourists visit this open-air museum. Only 20% of the city has been excavated so far; however, the site is large, well preserved, archeologically interesting and historically significant. It contains the largest collection of Roman ruins in Eastern Mediterranean. Some of the highlights of ancient Ephesus are The Library of Celsus, The Odeon, The Temple of Hadrian, The Great Theater… During this 2 days tour you can also visit Pamukkale and enjoy both history and nature, you can see the remains of Hierapolis - ancient city and healing center, and enjoy the thermal pools of Pamukkale - a natural formation of mineral springs set on massive travertine terraces. Location: Ephesus Archeological Site, House of Virgin Mary, Artemis Temple

Accommodation: Hotel

Accommodation Name: hotel is not included

Meals Included: Lunch

You will meet your tour guide in hotel .
You will first visit the House of Virgin Mary. We usually spend 45-60 minutes there. Catholic pilgrims visit this place based on their belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this house by Saint John and lived there her final days, until her assumption (according to Catholic doctrine). The House of Virgin Mary was visited by several popes: Pope Paul VI in the 60`s, Pope John-Paul II in the 80`s and in 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI.
Afterwards, there is 15 minutes driving to Ephesus. During this tour we will spend around 2 hours walking in Ephesus, where you can see the main points of this sight such as The Great Theater and the Celsus Library.
After Ephesus tour you will have lunch in a local Restaurant.
After lunch we will visit the Temple of Artemis; which is one of the Seven wonders of the ancient World,
There are some workshops in the area; if group members are interested in visiting one of these workshops ( pottory or carpet) we may visit one of these places.
Your tour will end in your hotel.

Our Pamukkale trip usually starts from Kusadasi or Selcuk. There is three hours driving distance to Pamukkale, so an early pick up is suggested.

We will make a short break for taking photos and after that continue walking to well preserved Roman theater.
Passing by the Roman baths, we will reach the Ancient Pool where you can spend some of your free time swimming in a warm spring water. Instead, you can also choose to spend that time walking barefoot down the Travertines, filled with thermal water enriched with calcium.

From London

From London, we booked this private tour with Ertunga who was also our tour guide through out the 7 days we spent in different parts of Turkey. From Istanbul to Cappadocia to Kusadasi. We stayed in Istanbul for 2 nights & Kusadasi for 4 nights from where we visited the 7 Biblical churches. All the way through this trip Ertunga has been very very helpful & accommodative. His local & history knowledge to explain the sites is very good. Especially during the CV-19 situation , Ertunga took care of hand sanitizers, masks & other health & safety aspects very professionally. Food - we went to many different restaurants with amazing variety of food. Hotels & Transport was very very comfortable. Anyone visiting Turkey , I highly recommend Ertunga to get the feel of traditional & historical side of Turkey. Thanks Nilesh
