Day 1: Crete (Arrival) (-/-/D)

Welcome to Greece! Upon arrival at Heraklion International Airport, you will be met and transferred (shared) to your hotel in Gouves or the Hersonissos areas. As one of the most popular resort areas in Crete, the Hersonissos port was significant from the classical Greek era until Byzantine times and hosts the only Golf club on the island. Day 2: Crete — Boat Trip To Island Of Spinalonga (B/L/D)

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel for guided sightseeing of Spinalonga, a small rocky island situated at the mouth of the natural port of Elounda, first fortified to protect the ancient city of Olus. Later, it served as a Venetian Fortress in the 16th Century. In the early 20th Century, hundreds of lepers were shipped there and formed a colony, their pain earned it the sobriquet of the ‘island of tears. Once you are there, head on a guided walk around the remains of the colony. Its main street is still lined with shops and houses where the lepers tried to live ordinary lives. Later, sail back to Elounda, where a typical Cretan lunch awaits you. Enjoy free time to walk around, do some shopping, or go for a swim.

Overnight in Crete

Day 3: Crete — Palace Of Knossos And Heraklion Town (B/-/D)

After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Heraklion Town and the Palace of Knossos. Dating back to 1900 BC, the Palace of Knossos was the hub of Cretes Minoan civilization, where the fearsome Minotaur was said to have lurked in the labyrinth. Your guide will explain the myths surrounding the palace and its Kings as they lead you around its treasures. Next, you will visit Heraklion. Stroll around and you will discover many charming historical buildings and landmarks such as the Koules Fortress at the Venetian port, Turkish and Venetian Fountains, Venetian buildings, the Venetian Loggia, and extraordinary museums, such as the Archaeological Museum, the Historical Museum, and the Museum of Natural History. Enjoy a guided tour of the Archaeological Museum and get a closer understanding of Cretan History.

Day 4: Crete — Birthplace Of Zeus (B/L/D)

Today you will explore the central part of Crete. Study the incredible mythology and fascinating information about Crete and the local life. You will be picked up from the hotel and driven towards your first stop — the Potamies Reservoir Water Dam. Continue your journey through paths and olive trees, to reach the ruins of the Roman aqueduct of Lyttos. Your next stop will be in the quaint village of Kastamonitsa where you may join locals for a coffee break in the traditional kafenion. From here the real off-road adventure will begin as you climb high into the mountains and follow the ancient Minoan path guiding you to the cave of Zeus. En route, you will pass only shepherds and their goats. At Zeus Cave (where mythology says that Zeus, the father of all the gods was born!). You will get the option to explore the cave by paying a small entrance fee (walking shoes are recommended). Your next stop will give you the opportunity to get a birds eye view of the Lassithi Plateau. Drop down to the plateau for a delicious BBQ lunch with unlimited wine! Discover the Lassithi Plateau, where time has virtually stood still and the local people are mainly farmers. Here you can see many donkeys still at work. Make your way to picturesque Seli, where you will find countless opportunities to snap the perfect photos. Next, reach the village of Krassi for your last stop of the day, famous for a 2,000-year-old plane tree. It also has a natural spring water source. From here head back to your hotel to end a day of surprises, adventures, and unforgettable memories.

Day 5: Crete — West Crete, Rethymnon And Chania (B/-/D)

After a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked up and proceed for a guided tour of two of Cretes cities, Chania (also known as Little Venice), and Rethymnon, with its fascinating mix of Italian and Turkish influences and picturesque harbor fronts. Visit the old quarter, its quaint little neighborhoods and backstreets that have been restored beautifully. Afterward, visit the lively Chania Market Hall, where locals throngs buy their daily supply of vegetables, fish, meat, herbs, and spices. Cretan products such as cheeses, olives, raki and more can also be found. Continue to the famous leather lane before you end up at the breathtaking Venetian port of Chania. Equally beautiful is the old town and harbor of Rethymnon, which will be the second stop. You will have free time in both destinations to explore the winding back streets. This will be a fascinating day full of discovery, beautiful scenery, and rich history.

07-Dec-2023

Booked Mystical Egypt tour with them visiting Cairo and a 03 Nights Cruise from Luxor to Aswan in May. All services were perfect since the time we arrived at the airport, we were met by a hospitable Indus Representative who helped us with the purchase of local SIM and currency exchange. He was always there in time to assist for transfers. The Amwaj Cruise which we took from Luxor to Aswan was a Gem. We had great guides and all sightseeing worked like a clockwork. We enjoyed visiting Karnak Temples, Temples of Edfu, Kom Ombo and the boat ride to see Phillae Temple. Evening entertainment on cruise were great and engaging. In Cairo and Aswan, we had ample leisure time to explore on own, the Pyramids were impressive and visiting Khan e Khalili was fun. Overall and impressive and enjoyable tour, Thanks to Indus Travels!

Indus Travel runs a highly professional organization. From customer service to brochures, bookings, tour guides, etc. and the consideration for their customers is superb. This was the first time I had travelled with Indus Travels. We took the Taste of Portugal Tour. Group numbers are small, accommodation comfortable and food excellent. The expert guide who accompanied us was outstanding - passionate, informative, engaging, and entertaining. This company is obviously at the heart of the itinerary planning, and attention to detail is second to none. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a fun, relaxed, educational vacation with fine food - they will deliver! We will never forget this trip and we are already planning for another one to Wonders of Italy, Vienna, Budapest, and Prague.

We were looking for a customized, small group tour. We took a chance on Indus without knowing much about the company. We just returned from our trip to Greece and are more than highly please and satisfied with our experience. They planned an amazing itinerary, booked amazing hotels, hired knowledgeable tour guides and arranged high quality transportation services. Everyone went above and beyond to please us. We are already planning a trip for next year (2024) and will definitely use Indus to do so.

07-Mar-2024

My wife and I along with three friends signed up the tour to Mexico from Indus Travel. The total 12-day Maya Culture trip really gave us opportunities to learn Mexico indigenous cultures thoroughly. We have seen a lot of ruins and pyramids, each of them has different representations and can tell the history of what was happening atthat time. We also had chances to visit the indigenous families toexperence the real Mexican people's life inthe rural area. The views of volcanoes, villages and canyons are also unforgettable. This is a small group with total 7 tourists, our driver/tour guide is a very experienced guide, he explained the history in sequence of events in and out. Most of all with 2500km driving he made us fell safe with his skills. All in all, this trip worths a 5+ star. I was so surprised that Indus Travel assigned a tour coordinator dedicated to our group, Kathlene helped a lot to make the arrangement for the whole trip and made us worry free.

13-Nov-2023

I booked a trip with Indus to South Africa and had a fabulous time! It was easy to book the trip online and any questions I had were answered very quickly by Sabine. The hotels we stayed at were very nice and in good locations. Our tours were well organized and our safari in Kruger National park was definitely a highlight. A few mornings had a bright and early start, but this allowed us to accomplish quite a lot in a day. The hotel restaurants had decent food, which was convenient if we had a longer day and didn't want to go out to eat. Overall, I was very happy with the trip and I felt the price for my tour was excellent value. I would definitely use Indus again!

04-Jan-2024

Exploring Bogota was fantastic - a lively city with so much to see. The Gold Museum was a highlight, taking us on a journey through centuries of history. We spent hours there, fascinated by the detailed exhibits showcasing the rich culture. After Bogota, we flew to St. Andres, a Caribbean paradise. Despite some rain during the 'rainy season,' the island's charm and our packed sightseeing schedule made every moment unforgettable. Activities like mangrove kayaking, snorkeling, and island hopping showcased St. Andres' natural beauty. WE even rescued a sick blue heron during our tour and transferred it to rescue services. The food was another standout. Local cuisine was not only delicious but also budget-friendly, offering a unique blend of flavors. I love seafood especially seviche, and I was trully impress by quality and diversity. But what really made our trip special was the people. Friendliness was everywhere, whether chatting with locals or getting tips on hidden gems. The genuine hospitality added an extra layer of joy to an already amazing journey. Bogota and St. Andres left a lasting impression, going beyond sightseeing to truly experience the heart and soul of these incredible destinations. Big thank you to Indus team, who put together this trip for me. I am looking forward to exploring other South American countries with Indus.

11-Jul-2023

Glimpse of Egypt Quick paced tour taken after Egypt opened back up to tourists, particularly Americans. Went in November and weather was beautiful. Decent hotels and overnight Nile cruise. You will see a lot on this tour and be aware there are some early wake ups. Lots of walking but doable if you're in decent shape. Overall a fun tour with all the sites you have only seen in books!
