Tour Overview

Our Khumbu Valley 3 Pass Trek is a wonderful opportunity to explore some of the more remote parts of the spectacular Everest Region. We make a visit to EBC along the way, but our main objective is to leave the crowds behind and explore some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. This adventure is challenging. We will trek over three high altitude passes (Renjo La 5390m, Cho La 5420m, Kongma La 5528m) and summit three significant mountains (Gokyo Ri 5357m, Kala Pattar 5643m, Chukung Ri 5546m). The route is physically tough but the rewards are huge. The trek is led by a British expedition guide with extensive experience of trekking at altitude and in the Himalaya. The Khumbu Valley 3 Pass Trek is the best opportunity to explore the Everest Region. It has been described as one of the finest treks in the world, and for good reason. You will discover breath-taking vistas of the world's greatest mountains and immerse yourself in Nepalese and Sherpa culture. An unforgettable experience.

We are happy to arrange accommodation in Nepal if you would like to arrive earlier or extend your trip.

  • Are children permitted to take part in the tour?

We recommend bringing at least $250 in USD. $50 USD can be used as tips for the porters and $200 as emergency cash. Dollars can be exchanged to Nepalese rupees NPR in Kathmandu.

  • Are airport transfers included in this tour?

Yes. We'll pick you up from Tribhuvan International Airport and take you to your hotel in Thamel.

  • What is the fitness level required to do this tour?

This route is one of the most challenging in the Everest Region but anyone who is reasonably fit will enjoy the challenge. The itinerary includes rest days and opportunities to catch up with the group if you prefer to skip one of the three peaks. We must however all climb the three passes to complete the route.

  • Will I struggle with the altitude?

Trekking at altitude can be more difficult than at sea level because the air pressure is lower. Altitude affects people in different ways for example you might feel shortness of breath, occasional dizziness or loss of appetite. Our route is specifically designed to give you time to acclimatize and for most people trekking under 6000 metres, the symptoms are mild and manageable.

  • What is the tipping policy?

Our Sherpa guides and porters receive a decent local wage, well above the government minimum. We recommend a minimum of $50 for tips. We pool the tips and share them fairly between the team. We also ask clients to donate any clothes and equipment. If they are unsuitable for the porters we will find a welcome home for them in Nepal.

  • Are flights included in this tour?

International flights are not included but internal flights from Kathmandu to Lukla are included.

  • What happens if a group doesn’t make its minimum required number of passengers?

We reserve the right to cancel a trip if we do not receive sufficient bookings. We will give you as much notice of cancellation as possible, allowing you to consider alternative trips or dates.
