Itinerary
Coach Itinerary
Day 1
We catch the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin where our tour manager joins us. We continue on to our overnight hotel in Mullingar.
Day 2 – Brigit’s Garden, Galway & Lisdoonvarna
Leaving Mullingar, we head to the award-winning Brigit’s Garden. The series of four gardens takes us on a journey through the Celtic cycle of the seasons, with each garden representing one of the Celtic festivals of Samhain, Imbolc, Bealtaine and Lughnasa. We enjoy an included lunch after our visit.
We continue on to Galway where we enjoy a guided tour of this thriving, cosmopolitan city with our tour manager. Galway has the added bonus of a seaside setting with beautiful beaches and a promenade. Later, we check in to the Burren Castle Hotel in the historic spa resort town of Lisdoonvarna where we stay for the next three nights.
Day 3 – Limerick & Bunratty Folk Park
Our day starts in Limerick where we enjoy a guided tour with our tour manager. Built on the River Shannon, the city is overlooked by the majestic 13th-century King John’s Castle and is also home to St John's Cathedral which boasts the tallest spire in Ireland.
We continue on to Bunratty where, after an included lunch at the famous Durty Nelly’s pub, we take a step back in time at Bunratty Folk Park to experience village life in 19th century Ireland. Set on 26 acres, rural farmhouses, village shops and streets have been recreated as they would have appeared at that time while costumed characters portray the traditions and lifestyle of a bygone age.
Day 4 – The Burren & Cliffs of Moher
We explore the unique landscape of The Burren with a guided tour by our tour manager. With its limestone rocks and ‘pavements’, lakes and cliffs, the area is rich with historical and archaeological sites and is renowned for its remarkable assemblage of plants and animals, including many rare Irish species.
After an included light lunch in Lisdoonvarna, we continue on to the magnificent Cliffs of Moher including the fascinating visitor centre. Stretching for eight miles along County Clare’s Atlantic Coast and 214m at their highest, the cliffs offer stunning views towards the Aran Islands and Galway Bay. They are also home to one of the major colonies of cliff nesting seabirds in Ireland.
Day 5 – Dublin
Checking out of our hotel, we travel to Dublin where we take a guided tour of the Republic’s wonderful capital with our tour manager. Some of the sights here include the historic Temple Bar area, Trinity College, Dublin Castle and the Ha’Penny Bridge, an old iron footbridge that spans the River Liffey. We then spend the night in our hotel close to Dublin.
Day 6
We check out of our hotel very early to catch the ferry back to Holyhead; therefore a voucher will be provided to enjoy breakfast on board. On arrival in Holyhead, we continue our journey home.
Due to ferry times, coach pickup times may be very early in the morning.
