Day 2 : Sightseeing In York
Location: York
Accommodation Name: Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

After breakfast enjoy a full day in York to discover the highlights of this wonderful city. We start with a visit to York Minster one of the largest cathedrals of its kind and the second-largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe. Seat of the Archbishop of York the cathedral has beautiful stained glass and a rose window in its south transept which dates to around 1500. Your Tour Manager will then take you on an orientation walk of the main parts of the city – including a visit to the Shambles – a historic street lined with medieval buildings. See Clifford’s Tower – a castle keep once used as a prison and then a mint. The rest of your day is free to explore. Perhaps consider a visit to the time capsule-style Viking attraction JORVIK or the National Railway Museum of York – just a short walk from the city centre. In the evening return to your hotel and have a relaxed dinner.

Day 3 : Yorkshire Dales & Harrogate
Location: Yorkshire Dales National Park, Harrogate
Accommodation Name: Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

This morning after a hearty breakfast, we travel to Bingley in the Yorkshire Dales. You will have the chance to photograph the highest Staircase Lock which was constructed in 1774 as part of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal system.  We then stop in Haworth located at the edge of the rugged Pennine Moors. It is here that the Bronte family lived from 1820 and it is also the town where the sisters wrote their famous novels. You may wish to visit the Bronte Parsonage Museum and the Bronte Memorial Chapel in the nearby church where their father preached or simply explore the quaint shops along the cobbled main street. You will also have free time here for lunch before we head on to Harrogate. You may wish to have a traditional tea at the famous Betty’s Café and Tea rooms or simply explore the centre of town with its beautiful buildings and gardens. In the evening we return to the  hotel and enjoy dinner with your travel companions.

Day 4 : Castle Howard

This morning after breakfast travel to the iconic Castle Howard. The Daily Telegraph stated that Castle Howard is ‘One of the top 10 buildings you must visit in your lifetime’ and we agree. Famed (amongst other things) for being the location of the television series Brideshead Revisited which was first broadcast in 1981 and went on to run until 2008 – Castle Howard has it all from picturesque gardens to the magnificent castle itself.  Enjoy a guided tour to discover the history here and then free time when you could also visit the wonderful Farm Shop and Garden Centre before returning to your hotel. Meet with your fellow travel companions this evening for your final dinner at the hotel.

York & Castle Howard

This was the first time holidaying in the UK with Just You although I have been abroad with you on numerous occasions. As usual the holiday was well organised and well managed despite circumstances beyond your control due to Covid restrictions. Also such lovely company on the trip. I would have no hesitation recommending your company to friends looking for a Solo holiday

York & Castle Howard

The staff are a pleasure to deal with and the holidays well organised. It was an enjoyable break with some good experiences. This was largely due to the friendliness of the group, the competence of the Tour Manager and the beauty and interests of York and Yorkshire.
