Tour Overview
Enjoy beautiful lakeside scenery combined with an outstanding Alpine experience on this all-inclusive holiday.
Itinerary
Day 1
Door-to-Door departure, then by coach overnight towards Italy.
Day 2
We arrive in the beautiful lakeside resort of Tremezzo on Lake Como where we stay for the next four nights on All-Inclusive basis. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to relax and begin your explorations of the area.
Day 3 Lugano
Location: Lugano
Today our included excursion takes us over the border into Switzerland and the beautiful lakeside town of Lugano. Lugano lies in a bay on the northern side of Lake Lugano and is surrounded by Monte Bre and Monte Salvatore offering a breathtaking backdrop. The town centre boasts Mediterranean-style squares and arcades for you to explore and by the lakeside promenade are the beautiful Belvedere Gardens. Be sure to visit Via Nassa, one of town’s historical streets and Lugano’s number one shopping destination. Its elegant and sophisticated atmosphere is not to be missed.
Day 4 Lake Maggiore & Lake Cruise
Location: Lake Maggiore & Lake Cruise
Today on our included excursion we first visit Arona, where you will have time at leisure to enjoy the grand architecture and cosmopolitan atmosphere. We continue to Lake Maggiore and the resort of Baveno.
Here we take a short boat ride on the lake which takes us to the opulent resort town of Stresa. We sail past the beautiful Borromean Islands, which lie at the centre of the lake and are fine examples of natural beauty enhanced by landscaped gardens and parks.
Day 5 Free Time Or St. Moritz & Bernina Regional Railway
Location: Free Time or St. Moritz & Bernina Regional Railway
Today, for those passengers who have pre-booked, our optional excursion takes you to the world famous resort of St. Moritz. Sporting life has always been an important part of St. Moritz, and over 100 years ago the first British visitors used to stage toboggan races in the streets.
There will be a short amount of time for you to explore before we board the Bernina Regional Railway and cross one of the highest railroad lines in the Alps. As we approach the Swiss / Italian border, we travel over the Brusio spiral viaduct, an amazing feat of engineering that allows the train to gradually descend 20 metres in a relatively short distance.
We arrive in Tirano, a quaint Italian town, where we spend a short amount of free time before returning to our hotel.
A ride on the Bernina Region Railway is highly recommended and extremely popular, therefore we recommend that this excursion is booked in advance. The cost is from £59 per person. Please ask for details when booking this holiday.
Day 6
Free time before we say goodbye to Italy and commence our overnight journey north crossing Switzerland and into France.
Day 7
Return home.
