Tour Overview

This 5-day journey through Northeast Vietnam includes a visit to Ha Long Bay, Tay and Nung ethnic minority villages, Ban Gioc waterfall, Ba Be Lake and other interesting places in Cao Bang and Bac Kan Provinces. These sights represent some of the best of the best in Vietnam, and are a highlight for many travellers to the country.

Itinerary

icon Day 1 : Hanoi - Halong Bay (L/D)

Location: Hạ Long

Accommodation: Cruise

Our guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi at around 8am, and take you on a 170km drive to Ha Long Bay. En route, you will stop at a ceramics and embroidery workshop in Hai Duong, before reaching Ha Long Bay and boarding your cruise.



On your first day here we’ll take you to all of the well-travelled highlights of the bay, before settling in for dinner and sleep on-board the boat. Optional activities you can partake in during this day includes swimming, kayaking or simply relaxing on deck.

icon Day 2 : Halong Bay - Lang Son (B/L/D)

On your second day in Ha Long, we will head further west in the bay and take you to the parts less frequently visited by travellers, for a more “off-the-beaten-track” take on the Ha Long Bay experience lasting about 3 hours, before leaving our lovely cruise and starting our drive to Lang Son Province.



On the way there, you’ll be able to relax as you take in the beautiful countryside passing by you, buzzing with the daily life of the local villages.



Once in Lang Son, we’ll take you to visit Tay and Nung ethnic villages, giving you the chance to learn about their unique traditions and culture. In Lang Son you will overnight at a hotel.

icon Day 3 : Lang Son - Ban Gioc Waterfall (B/L/D)

Location: Cao Bằng

After breakfast in the hotel, it’s time to leave for Ban Gioc Waterfall, a majestic waterfall which forms part of the border between Vietnam and China. This wall of water cascades over the rocks and is easily one of the most spectacular sights you can see in all of Northern Vietnam.



We’ll spend some time here allowing you to take in the scenery and taking some stunning photos, before visiting Nguom Ngao, or “Tiger Cave”. Finally we’ll head to the village of Quang Uyen where you’ll get to enjoy a local dinner and sleep in a traditional homestay.

icon Day 4 : Quang Uyen - Ba Be Lake (B/L/D)

Location: Ba Bể District

Accommodation: Homestay

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After saying your farewells to your host family, we’ll take you for a drive through Ma Phuc Pass before we arrive at Ba Be Lake around midday. Here you’re free to spend the rest of the day as you please, either relaxing at your homestay or at the shore, or exploring all the village has to offer.



For dinner we’ll eat an excellently cooked local meal at the homestay, before turning in for the night.

icon Day 5 : Ba Be Lake - Hanoi (B/L)

Location: Hanoi

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

After one final breakfast at the homestay, we’ll take you for a boat trip down the river, set amidst lush forests desperately clinging to the flanking mountains. Along this river journey we’ll make stops at Puong Grotto, Day Dang Waterfall, Cam Ha Village, and also allow you some time to serenely float around Ba Be lake itself. Once all this is done, we’ll drive you back to your hotel in Hanoi.
