Tour Overview
Helsinki — Tallinn — Turku — Helsinki There are three mandatory cities for those travelling around Southern Finland: Helsinki, Turku, and Tallinn - this last one, in Estonia. Helsinki enchants with its blend of modernity and nature, entertainment and tranquillity accessible everywhere and all the time. Turku, in turn, was the first capital of Finland, and has a lot to teach about the Finnish History. Tallinn is not behind in terms of heritage. The capital of Estonia, few kilometres from Helsinki, has literally thousands of castles e hundreds of museums - to not mention its fabulous old city centre.
Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1 : Helsinki
Location: Helsinki
Accommodation: Hotel
Beginning in the capital city of Finland – Helsinki. We will first show you the beautiful Temppeliaukion Church, an example of groundbreaking Finnish design. Then we will explore the city’s most prominent cathedrals: the Helsinki Cathedral and Uspenski Cathedral. Constructed in the 1800s, the cathedrals were built while Finland was a part of Russia. Now, the cathedrals are landmarks of Helsinki. Wander the outdoor Kauppatori Market filled with everything from local produce to souvenirs, Kauppatori creates a vibrant atmosphere within the city. Afterward, we will continue our visit with a touch of nature: we will visit the Esplanadi Park, and the Sibelius Park. In the heart of the latter sits a monument to Sibelius: a renowned Finnish composer accredited with helping Finland develop a national identity. The park is on the waterfront of a large bay with one of the best cafés in Helsinki nearby.
Your day will conclude in your double hotel room.
Day 2 : Estonia
Location: Tallinn
Accommodation: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
Right after our breakfast in Helsinki, we will travel to Estonia's capital, Tallin! We will meet thousands of people in the busy street Pikk Tänav, both an important road and famous attraction. We will cross the street all the way to the church of the Holy Spirit, a church from the 13th century. The church sits near the Great Guild, a guild for merchants and artisans, operating in Tallin from at least the 14th century until 1920.
In the evening we will take you to your accommodation, a nice double hotel room.
Day 3 : Turku
Location: Turku
Accommodation: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
Today we will travel to another important Finnish city, Turku. Turku is home to the Moomin World, a theme park based on the Moomin book and this cute character. Turku is also famous for its castle and cathedral. Turku Castle, standing on the banks of the Aura River, was founded in the late 13th century, just like the cathedral. The cathedral was originally built out of wood, and it was badly damaged during the Great Fire of Turk, in 1827.
We will provide accommodation in a nice double hotel room.
Day 4 : Helsinki
Location: Helsinki
Accommodation: Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
Today we will return to Helsinki in order to explore all the wonders the city has to offer. Suomenlinna is located on the three islands of Helsinki. It was designed by a Swedish military architect, Augustin Ehrensvrd 250 years ago to defend the invasion from Russian. Suomenlinna has been in the list of World Heritage since 1991, and today we are going to lead you to explore the mysterious place. In the afternoon, we will visit Hakaniemi Market, a lively street marketplace.
Your day will conclude in your double hotel room.

When to travel to Lapland?
There are four distinctly different seasons as far up north as Rovaniemi. However, locals think the conditions are in a constant state of change and say there are up to eight seasons in the year: midwinter, snowy spring, spring, summer, harvest season, autumn leaf colour, first snowfall, and Christmas. Please bear in mind that there is annual fluctuation in weather. Lapland is in the continental climate zone. The winters are cold and rich in snow, but thanks to the Gulf Stream, the summers are relatively warm. Rovaniemi is part of the arctic region; its climate, however, is subarctic and temperate, characterised by strong seasonal contrasts of dark versus bright and cold versus warm.

Summer in Lapland
The Midnight Sun and white nights in June and July The Midnight Sun period officially lasts from early June until early July, but nights are white throughout the summer in Rovaniemi. The summer in Lapland can offer an interesting variety of weather conditions, with a longer warm spell expected in July. The warmest time of year brings people out in masses, and various events take place in summery Rovaniemi. Prepare to celebrate until the wee hours, as the sun never goes down. There are plenty of things to do in Rovaniemi in the summer, and with 24 hours of light, there’s no limits to time of action.
-
Spring in Lapland
The snow melts, the ice breaks and nature is reborn in April and May April is still considered a snowy month in Rovaniemi and Lapland, but the snow gradually disappears as May approaches. The ice on rivers and lakes starts melting, and big chunks of ice can be seen flowing downstream. In early April, the last of the Northern Lights displays can be seen. Towards the end of April, nights are too light for the Auroras to be spotted. In May, northern nature starts getting ready to blossom once again after a harsh winter. At the end of May, nights are white. In Rovaniemi, winter activities still run in early April, after which it’s time for non-snow stuff.
-
Winter in Lapland
Christmas, the Polar Night and snowy spring from December to March December and January are snowy months shrouded in the darkness of the Polar Night. The sun comes out in February and marks the start of the snowy, light-filled spring. March is often terrific for Northern Lights viewing. In Rovaniemi, the Official Hometown of Santa Claus, Christmas is a special time, as many flock to the arctic town to meet Santa in person and experience the festive season in magical wintery surroundings. The winter is a great time for a number of activities both in the snow outside and experiencing local culture inside.
-
Autumn in Lapland
First Auroras and first snowfall from August to November Early August is still considered summer by many, but by the end of the month, it’s definitely autumn. The Northern Lights start appearing in late August, and September and October are ideal Aurora viewing months. Temperatures start dropping below zero in October, and first snow usually falls at around the same time period. A permanent snow cover is expected in late November. Autumn leaf colour paints the landscapes in earthy shades, and days are perfect for hiking and other nature related activities, as nights are best reserved for Aurora spotting.
