Day 1 : Drive to Mt. Kenya

Location: Batian's View Educational Center

Accommodation: Homestay, Naro Moru River Lodge

Accommodation Name: Batians View Education Center

Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner

You will be picked from your hotel and driven north towards Mt. Kenya. Your destination is Batians View Experiential Education Center near the town of Naro Moru. The drive takes approximately 3 hours and you should arrive just in time for lunch. This will be your base for climbing the mountain. Here you will meet your guide who will go over the route with you and check that you have all the gear you need to stay safe and comfortable while on the mountain. Overnight at Batians View campsite.

Day 2 : Drive to Marania Gate

Location: Marania Gate

Accommodation: Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast you load up in and depart for Marania road head. We will head north past the towns of Nanyuki and Timau and through Embori farm to the road head. From there it is just an hours hike to solo camp on the Western Marania river. This will be your first campsite on the mountain. It is on the leeward side of the mountain. It does not receive as much rainfall and so is not forested.

Day 3 : Major's camp

Location: River Kathita

The day's destination is Majors Camp located on Katheta West river and right in the middle of the Alpine zone.Here you will encounter tussock grass, giant groundsels and lobelia plants which are adapted to this unique environment. You may also have a glimpse of herds of Buffalo, Zebra and Eland which crisscross this zone as they move from one grazing area to the next. This zone has been designated a world heritage site by UNESCO.

Day 4 : Icy Mike

Location: Hinde Valley

Accommodation: Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Icy Mike is the name given to the remains of an elephant skeleton found at 14,000ft at the head of the Hinde valley. The campsite is in a small depression just beneath Sendeyo peak, which is the fourth highest peak after point Lenana.The terrain is mostly rocky with patches of tussock grass and giant Senecio plants. Below the campsite, you get a beautiful view of the Hinde Valley stretching into the distance.

Day 5 : hike to hall tarns

Location: Hall Tarns

Accommodation: Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Camping right next to Hall Tarns, a group of five small mountain lakes poised high above the Gorges valley, with Lake Michaelson situated 305 meters directly below. The Magnificent The Temple, a sheer cliff 300M high, forms the western wall of the Gorges valley at this point, with Lake Michaelson at its base. You can get a great view of both The Temple and Lake Michaelson just a short distance above the campsite.

Day 6 : Lenana Summit

Location: Point Lenana then to Met station

Accommodation: Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Leave camp by 3.00 am and climb up the steep scree for about 3 hours to reach point Lenana. It is the third highest peak on Mt. Kenya and can be done by anyone in good physical condition without any technical training or equipment. The aim is to get to the top by 6am in time for the sunrise, and on a clear day, Kilimanjaro can be seen in the distance. After a brief stay on the summit you will descend to Macknder's camp for brunch and a short rest before distancing all the way to Met station via the Naro Moru trail. Overnight at Met station.

Day 7 : Mount Kenya Park gate

Location: Naro Moru River Lodge Met Station Bandas. Pick up at the gate

Accommodation: Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The descent from Met station to the Park gate takes about 2 hrs. From the gate you will be driven to Batians View Experiential Education Center for showers and clean up before departing for Nairobi where you will end your trip.
