The island is a national park which is home to two salt lakes that are connected by a narrow canal. Those who like to get close to nature will love it here and there are ample opportunities to hike and cycle here. Kayaking is also recommended and a good way to get to the charming 12th century monastery on an island within the lake.
Our journey continues to Korcula this afternoon with a stop for swimming along the way. Claimed to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, Korcula has some of the finest stonework you can see in Croatia. There is an optional walking tour of Korcula available, or your can independantly explore at your leisure.
Day 4: Hvar

Korcula – Hvar - Vis. Today we sail to the sunny island of Hvar. A favourite with the rich and famous, Hvar is home to more UNESCO cultural sites than anywhere else in the world – an impressive achievement for such a small island. An optional walking tour of Hvar is available (book/pay locally). This afternoon we sail over to fascinating Vis – a former top secret Yugoslav military base which is now open to the public and full of pristine nature.
Day 5: Vis & Sibenik
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
Vis – Sibenik. This morning you will have the opportunity to further explore Vis – a truly captivating and historic island. There is a Greek cemetery, Roman baths and an English fort as well as tributes to the Yugoslav militia. A guided tour is highly recommended in order to get a real insight into the exciting history of Vis. Later, we sail to the mainland and to the town of Sibenik for an optional walking tour (book/pay locally). The rest of the day and evening is at your leisure, to explore this gorgeous town. Wild waterfalls and serene lakes are aplenty here and it is definitely worth a visit. We continue to Trogir, a small island that is home to some stunning architecture of Greek and Roman heritage. End the day in Split, a pretty little city and home to the Diocletian’s Palace – a former Roman Emperor’s retirement estate.
