Tour Overview
Radventures presents: The Epic (Part 2) - the second of an incredible two-part road trip visiting three of the best ski resorts in Canada. Over 9 days, we'll travel deep into the heart of the Canadian Rockies, hitting the secret local spots and progressing your riding with our guides along the way. We've dialled in this road trip to get in as many days riding as possible to make the most of your included Mountain Collective pass and your time. Starting in Kelowna, you'll hit the slopes at RED Mountain, Whitewater & Panorama, before finishing in the famous ski town of Banff. In addition to your time on the slopes, you'll experience the amazing lifestyle, scenery, wildlife & nightlife on offer in the quaint mountain towns, travel through two amazing national parks, visit natural hot springs and have the chance to brewery hop, ice skate, shop and relax. Plus you can add-on a backcountry tour, go cat skiing, snowmobiling and a whole lot more!! The best part - all lift passes including the Mountain Collective pass are included along with your accommodation, breakfasts, private van transportation, trip & on-mountain guiding plus an introduction to each mountain with an actual local who knows all the secret powder stashes! **If you like the sound of this and want to do it on your own or with a group of friends, we offer a DIY version with either a campervan or car & hotel option to suit you. The best part is --- you choose the dates! For more information contact Radventures :) **
Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1 : The Arrival
Location: Kelowna, Trail
Accommodation: Hotel
Accommodation Name: Best Western Plus Columbia River Hotel
The Epic is a two part tour, so some of your fellow travels as well as your guide have already been travelling together for 9 days. Not to worry though, they'll welcome you with open arms for the southern portion of the Powder Highway to Trail, BC and beyond.
If you've seen part 2 and are interested in joining part 1 as well, please contact Radventures. You can find more information on The Epic (Part 1).
Once we arrive to our accommodation you'll have the chance to settle in before we head to a local restaurant/bar to get to know each other a little better!
Day 2 : Red Mountain - The First Ski Day
Location: Trail, RED Mountain Resort
Accommodation: Hotel
Accommodation Name: Best Western Plus Columbia River Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
Your first day on the mountain. Get the lay of the land with your guide plus your local legend - an actual local who spends all winter riding the slopes at RED. They'll quickly show you the deep powder stashes and the best lines so you don't have to waste your time. Your local legend will also show you the best on-mountain lunch spots and the apres-ski hotspot!
After the morning introduction, feel free to go exploring yourself, ride with your new friends or hit up the incredible Rockstar Energy terrain park. The choice is yours!
Tonight we'll have some options including seeing a local hockey game, having some fun at the local aquatic & rec centre or just taking it easy!
Day 3 : Red Mountain Day 2
Location: Trail, RED Mountain Resort
Accommodation: Hotel
Accommodation Name: Best Western Plus Columbia River Hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
Day two at RED. No better time than now to try out some legendary backcountry touring or save the legs and try your hand at cat-skiing.
Cat-skiing - what is it? Well let's just say that they aren't pussy cats, or tigers or anything like that. Cats as we know them are "like a really cool shuttle service to some awesome, big mountain terrain that you'll want to lap again and again". See the picture for a better understanding!
Tonight, we'll have multiple options including visiting some local breweries, take to the bowling lanes, go to a local rock climbing gym or play some pub games.
Day 4 : Whitewater Day 1
Location: Trail, Whitewater Ski Resort, Nelson
Accommodation: Hotel
Accommodation Name: Best Western Baker St Inn
Meals Included: Breakfast
Rise early and make the journey to Whitewater Ski Resort. Enjoy a guided orientation with your local legend - an actual local who spends their winters at Whitewater. They'll point out the best lines, secret powder stashes and more so you get the most out of your time on the mountain. Your local legend will be sure to show you the best on-mountain lunch spots and the apres-ski hotspot!
After our day at the ski resort we'll head into nearby Nelson to check in to your new hotel located on downtown Nelson's famous Baker St. You'll have access to an indoor whirlpool/hot tub for the 2-night stay plus your own queen bed.
Following our check-in, we'll head out of town, strap on some snowshoes and wander our way to a special spot in the forest. Under the quiet of the trees, you’ll gather around a roaring bonfire to tell stories, sip hot chocolate and experience the enjoyment that a winter bonfire brings (weather permitting, of course). What better way to spend an evening?
Day 5 : Whitewater Day 2
Location: Nelson, Whitewater Ski Resort
Accommodation: Hotel
Accommodation Name: Best Western Baker St Inn
Meals Included: Breakfast
Day two at Whitewater is the perfect opportunity to do some more backcountry tours, cat-skiing, or better yet, HELI-SKIING!! Don't worry though, there is still plenty of terrain to shred inside the resort boundaries if that's more your speed!
An epic day needs an epic night - but don't worry, your guide has a few tricks up their sleeve!
Day 6 : Rest Those Weary Legs And See The Sights!
Location: Invermere, Radium Hot Springs
Accommodation: Hotel
Accommodation Name: Invermere Inn & Suites
Meals Included: Breakfast
Take a break from the skiing/boarding and travel from Nelson to Invermere through the Columbia Valley. Enjoy the views along the way and venture out at a few of our favourite spots on the journey.
In the afternoon, you'll have the chance to explore town, go ice-skating on the world's longest skating trail or enjoy some free time.
This evening we'll make the short trip to Radium Hot Springs to soak in the thermal mineral springs - a perfect way to recuperate the body before hitting the slopes again at Panorama Mountain Resort tomorrow.
Join us for dinner at a local restaurant-cum-bar and try the amazing twist on the classic chicken parmigiana - with the best marinara sauce you'll ever have!
Tonight we will stay at the Invermere Inn & Suites located right in the middle of town. Everything is so close that they actually measure the distance to nearby sights in steps - no room for debate between imperial and metric.
Day 7 : Panorama Day 1
Location: Invermere, Panorama Mountain Resort
Accommodation: Hotel
Accommodation Name: Invermere Inn & Suites
Meals Included: Breakfast
After an easy and relaxing day (potentially), it's time to get back on top of the mountain at Panorama Mountain Resort.
Start the day with a mountain introduction by your local legend - an actual local who spends all winter riding these slopes. They'll show you the in's and out's and the best spots to maximize your time at this epic ski resort. Your local legend will also show you the best on-mountain lunch spots and the apres-ski hotspot!
Tonight, we'll have some free time and your guide will recommend some activities for you if you wish. These could include another relaxing soak at Radium Hot Springs, a drink at a local brewery, or a nice dinner spot!
Day 8 : Panorama Day 2
Location: Invermere, Panorama Mountain Resort
Accommodation: Hotel
Accommodation Name: Invermere Inn & Suites
Meals Included: Breakfast
Day 2 at Panorama typically means one of two things:
- It's time for some cat-skiing, or
- It's a snowmobile kind of day!
Panorama is home to the Monster X Snowcat's, Jekyll & Hide. By now you may have already tried your hand at cat-skiing, but if not Panorama provides your last opportunity on The Epic.
Now maybe, just maybe you want to try your hand at snowmobiling! Just across from the ski resort is the best snowmobiling company (in our humble opinion) on this side of the Rockies! They have a number of options from a half-day to a full-day snowmobile adventure. We recommend the full-day option so you get the afternoon thrash-style freeride session in a huge alpine bowl. Speak to your Radventures team member in advance of your tour to avoid missing out!
Like the sound of cat-skiing & snowmobiling?? That's not a problem, we can easily do one activity on our first day and the other on our second day at Panorama!
Tonight marks the final night of our Epic winter roadtrip, so what else is there to do than to throw a sweet party and relive the incredible memories we've all made!
Day 9 : Say Your Goodbyes!
Location: Banff
Meals Included: Breakfast
This morning we depart Invermere headed for Banff. We travel through the stunning Kootenay National Park. Keep your eyes open!
Upon our arrival in Banff we officially end our trip (approximately midday). You'll have the chance to farewell your new friends and (no doubt) make plans for your next ski trip together!
For anyone wishing to stay in Banff longer, or travelling back to Calgary, speak with a Radventures team member to arrange your additional travel plans.
For now.... it's see you later and thanks for joining us to Escape the Ordinary! <3
