Tour Overview
Morocco is a slice of exotica, a melting pot of Arab, Berber, Jew and Spaniard, with a strong French influence. A world apart from Europe yet as accessible as Italy or Greece. It is the perfect choice for those who enjoy the thrill of new cultures but are wary of long flights and huge expense.
We fly to Casablanca, on Morocco's Atlantic Coast. The city, made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the eponymous 1942 film, is a great place to start and indeed finish our tour. It is the largest and most European city in Morocco. Next we move into more traditional and authentically Morocco. We spend the morning in Rabat, the capital city, taking in the sights before catching a TGV (the fastest train in Africa) to Tangier. The name is well known and the city sights will not disappoint.Â
Next we head up into the mountains to explore the beautiful blue town of Chefchaouen. from here we can walk and relax with perhaps a little shopping in the souks. Heading down from the mountains we stop at Volubilis, an impressive southern outpost of the Roman empire. From here we continue to Fes, the oldest and most complete medieval city in Morocco. We have time to explore the city as well as walk in the Middle Atlas mountains.
Finally back to Casablanca, we have time to discover this exotic city. It is a modern city, in sharp contrast to what we have seen already on this holiday but an essential dimension to the Moroccan experience. If you have just won the lottery you might even consider visiting Rick's bar.
