Tour Overview
When you sail north, you enter into the land of mystery, remote landscapes and natural wonders. This is a cruise which unleashes spectacular scenery, rugged cliff edges, dramatic snow-capped peaks, thermal lands, electric blue glaciers and deep mysterious fjords.Â
Greenland, an enchanting and remote country within the North Atlantic and Arctic seas. This is a mysterious land alluring further exploration and discovery. Greenland is a mystifying country full of wild and captivating scenery, and there is nowhere else like it on Earth. 80% of Greenland is covered in ice, the largest ice mass in the northern hemisphere. It is the land of the midnight sun during summer and the gateway to the Aurora Borealis in winter.Â
Iceland is a destination you may have dreamt of visiting. Setting foot in the land of ice and fire is like taking a deep breath of fresh air into oxygen starved lungs. Iceland has vast open spaces and a landscape that pulses with continent dividing energy. The colours are rich and vivid, views expansive, and a unique landscape where Mother Nature is still changing its ever-evolving idea of perfection. Iceland’s volcanic scenery, rugged coastline and wild vastness truly excites the imagination.
Ever wanted to explore these captivating lands, then this cruising holiday is perfect for you! Â
The ship sails into Reykjavik from where you visit the continental divide and some of the dramatic waterfalls and geysers for which the country is so well known for. Walk in areas where the earth’s crust is so thin that steam fills the air.Â
Greenland will welcome you in Narsarsuaq, the gateway to southern Greenland. Discover the Flower Valley, Hospital Valley, and the Ridge Trail, considered by some to be one of the most spectacular walks in Greenland, with a local guide. Explore Qaqortoq, one of the largest towns in south Greenland, and then colourful Nanortalik, the most southernly town in Greenland.Â
Return to Iceland, Isafjorður, a beautiful fishing village with over 250 years of history located in a remote part of Iceland surrounded by mountains and minimal roads, it feels undiscovered.Â
The ship sails north to Akureyri to discover Iceland's incredible and unique geological masterpieces,
One of the unique things about cruising is that it allows you to discover extraordinary remote places that you would not usually be able to visit. In some ports of call you follow captivating walking trails and in some you will spend time with local guides, furthering our knowledge of history and culture during our exploration ashore. There will be free time in each port for you to explore at leisure, and your leader is always able to offer interesting suggestions.Â
Iceland has a reputation for being expensive, but on a cruising holiday you benefit from excellent value and experience more places than you would on a land-based holiday. At the end of each day’s activities, you'll return to the excellent food and comfort of the Fred Olsen ship and sail on to another scenic destination.
Please note, ports of call may change between different departure dates. It is important to check the individual tour date proposed itinerary for details of your cruise.
