Tour Overview

This trek has been designed to give you a meaningful and value-added experience by learning in-depth about the Sherpa people you will come across, villages you will stay at, and their famous residents. Our team will ensure that you are given the facts, the healthiest and most varied meals in the Himalayas, to enjoy your holiday to the fullest. This trek’s numerous highlights are visiting villages that are home to World record-setting/breaking Sherpas. You will even stay and dine at the homes of two of these famous Sherpas. One of the spiritual highlights is the Tengboche monastery that offers an incredible panorama of Mount Nuptse 7901 meters, Lhotse 8501 meters, Ama Dablam 6812 meters, and of course, Mount Everest! This monastery was first built in 1916 and has been rebuilt twice. It was damaged by the 1923 earthquake and a fire in 1989. The current building was rebuilt after the fire. The renowned Abbot of the monastery, Lama Ngawang Tenzing Jangpo Rimpoche, passed away quietly on the 9th of October 2020.

The memorable experience was made possible by the wonderful team from Responsible Adventures.

They have truly lived up to their name.

Although Raj was not able to join us due to conflicting schedule, the assigned trek leader Anand and team mates like Chandra have made efforts to see to our every need.

Morning wake up call with a cup of piping hot tumeric ginger honey drink was much welcomed in a cold winter morning.

Organic coffee accompanied by our preferred breakfast choice were served daily.

Filtered water was made ready for us at anytime and organic food was served on most meals.

We have fallen in love with Nepal and looking forward to another adventure with Responsible Adventures.

Keep up the good work! ;

We gave them an idea of what we liked to see and do, and they created a perfect itinerary for us.

Due to weather, our internal flight to Pokhara was cancelled, but Raj was able to quickly arrange a private driver so that we only missed 1 day, instead of possibly 2 days trekking.

I also have a gluten intolerance, and they made sure I had alternative things to eat when it was a gluten meal.

The morning health tea delivered to our room was tasty, and so was the fresh ground organic coffee every breakfast! We would definitely recommend Raj and Responsible Adventures! I am also talking with my school staff about a possible school trip to Nepal.

We have all been to Nepal and received many personal recommendations from fellow trekking friends.

Responsible Adventure came highly recommended by a friend who had spend some time living in Nepal and has trekked with them numerous times.

The owner, Raj, speaks excellent English and hence, planning and booking everything was a breeze as he was able to offer many recommendations and advice, which was highly appreciated as we were working on a tight schedule.

Chandra was assigned to us as the main guide, and I could not sing enough praises for him as he was very considerate, friendly and helpful all throughout the trip! Some little surprises (I should not spoil it) along the way was a bonus! We always felt safe with Chandra around to guide us.

Our 2 porters also provided excellent service and were always cheerful and helpful.

Raj happened to come along on our trip too, and his many years of experience was very valuable.

This was especially the case when we had some hiccups with our flights (due to the weather!) on the way back.

We knew we were in capable hands and just sat back and relax with our cup of tea while he sorted us out! The trek price includes all meals on the trek and accommodation in Pokhara and huts along the way.

We love our food and must say that the meals were above expectations.

I had fallen a little ill along the way, but the team was always supportive and ready to adjust to my pace.

Perhaps the trip is priced slightly above the rest, but I think the extra added on value is definitely priceless.

All in all, I thought we had a great trek and would highly recommend trekking with Responsible Adventures in Nepal if you have a chance! ; ....less

He was always at his professional best overseeing every details of the trek.

This was the 4th time I had the pleasure to be under his able hands.

For a start, he made sure that I had all the right equipment before we flew to Lukla.

Raj was always mindful that he had a 71 year old man in tow and was careful in maintaining a pace that I could follow comfortably.

The extra effort he made to ensure that I had the food I liked such as cacao powder, turmeric and honey drinks, guacamole etc was most commendable.

It really made my day to have such comfort foods during this challenging trek.

Knowing I am an avid golfer, he actually arranged for me to tee off at 3 different locations at over 5000m, the highest and toughest one was on Base Camp itself as it was snowing and the wind was blowing really hard.

It was an experience never to be forgotten.

I Have no hesitation to recommend my friends to trek with Raj and his Responsible Adventures.

Not only is he very knowledgeable about the mountains and the safety issues, he is extremely mindful of the cultural and historical heritage of the people of Nepal.

He is able to provide a safe, challenging and educational trek that only a guide with his years of experience can offer.

Incredible and perfectly organised trip to Nepal
"I just returned from a trip to Nepal, which was a place I have always wanted to travel to. I was keen to have the very best experience possible and ....more "I just returned from a trip to Nepal, which was a place I have always wanted to travel to.

I was keen to have the very best experience possible and did extensive research beforehand.

During this search I came across Responsible Adventures in Kathmandu.

Raj, the owner, arranged everything in Nepal for me, from the moment I arrived in Kathmandu to the moment I left Kathmandu 22 days later.

By this I mean that he organised the amazing Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek (which on this occasion he guided himself), flights to and from Lukla at the start of the trek, a porter (the wonderful and super-helpful Sundar), all accommodation and all food during my trek through this incredibly beautiful region.

On top of that, he also organised flights to and from Pokhara west of Kathmandu, as well as again all accommodation and activities during my time there too.

Some of many highlights were seeing several of the world’s highest peaks such as a helicopter flight to Annapurna sanctuary, hiking around the beautiful region of Pokhara to Australian Camp, selecting really beautiful accommodation with wonderful hosts, as well as just generally looking after me and ensuring that, importantly, we eat in restaurants where the food is safely prepared, which is quite an important topic when travelling to Nepal.

Especially during my trip to Everest base camp, I repeatedly saw travellers that were obviously Ill-prepared or possibly had eaten food prepared in less than ideal sanitary conditions or ascending too quickly having to be evacuated by helicopter.

Raj was constantly there to advise me on all aspects on especially food and mountain safety to minimise my chances of a similar fate, ensuring I acclimatise well.

I well remember a fellow traveller on a helicopter flight from Pokhara to Annapurna Sanctuary, something which I spontaneously thought of the day before and which Raj organised at short notice for me, and who seems to have ascended too quickly on the Annapurna circuit and had to be evacuated.

Note this was a young 25-year-old in perfect health, so all aspects of altitude sickness, mountain safety and being careful what you eat are all important topics when travelling to Nepal and I was lucky to be at all times looked after perfectly.

On top of the above, Raj was a wonderful host, funny, friendly and at all times genuinely concerned about my well-being.

On top of that, I had requested a few amendments to the normal itinerary, since I was keen to explore a bit more about the lasting legacy that Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay had left around the Solu Khumbu Region surrounding Mount Everest and throughout Nepal.

Due to his extensive personal contacts, I got to meet some extremely interesting people that I’m quite sure other visitors to Nepal just don’t get to meet.

Two examples that come to mind straight away was Karma, the lovely wife of Sherpa Tashi from Khumjung, both of which have become well known due to his 21 ascents of Mount Everest and featuring as the main characters in the movie documentary called “Sherpa”, as well as a really friendly Sherpa who was the first person to climb Mount Everest and then paraglide down from the summit.

I don’t want to set an expectation for future travellers that they will get to meet these people but my point is that at all times did Raj and his team from Responsible Adventures go the extra mile and make my trip extra special, part of this being the interesting people I got to meet.

I already look forward to, at one point in the future, being able to bring back my family to experience some more of Nepal, organised and guided by Raj and his team from Responsible Adventures.

Thanks so much Raj for making my dream trip come a reality and for exceeding all expectations I had beforehand!" ; ....less
