We did a Walking Tour...

22-Sep-2024

We did a Walking Tour through Moshi with Charles and it has been really amazing! Charles gave us so much interesting information, he was very smart and took a lot of time to explain everything or discuss things with us. We enjoyed the tour a lot! We also really liked hearing about their family company. The concept of bringing people and nature together while focusing on education, women empowerment and conservation spoke to us. Thank you Charles!

Our 4-day safari was absolutely amazing from start to finish! We saw so many incredible animals and stunning landscapes across the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire National Parks. Our guide, Leo, was incredible—so knowledgeable about everything, and you could really tell she had years of experience in these parks. She just knew exactly when and where to go, and her driving skills were seriously impressive! Everything was perfectly organized and went super smoothly. The accommodations were all beautiful, perfectly located, and really welcoming. I’m vegan, and both Leo and the hotels made sure I always had great food options, which I really appreciated. The first three days were all about wildlife, and then on the last day, we got to meet four different Tanzanian tribes and spend time with them. Going out hunting with the Hadza was honestly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! I couldn’t have asked for a better safari—it was immersive, well-planned, and truly unforgettable. It was great to see an empowered Tanzanian woman at work, I love the impact you have on your community, Leo, Thank you!!

We had a great city...

31-Jan-2025

We had a great city tour of Moshi with Charles. Charles knows every corner of Moshi and loves to share his knowledge with others. During these 2-3 hours, we learned a lot of new things, and at the end, we all went together to eat at a local restaurant. We also tried his restaurant and rooftop tips for sundowners (including spectacular view of kilimanjaro), and they were fantastic. We highly recommend taking a free guided tour with Charles!

We recently had the pleasure...

13-Dec-2024

We recently had the pleasure of going on our first-ever safari (5 days, 4 nights) with Safari by Leo, exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Tarangire National Park, the awe-inspiring Ngorongoro Crater, and the legendary Serengeti in Tanzania. It was truly the most incredible experience we could have imagined! Our guide, Leo, is one of the few female safari guides, and she made us feel completely safe and cared for throughout the entire journey. Her warmth, professionalism, and dedication were outstanding. Leo’s deep knowledge of the national parks, their landscapes, and of course the wildlife, was remarkable. She patiently answered every single one of our questions, making the experience both educational and fascinating. What made the trip even more special was Leo’s commitment to fulfilling our wishes. She took the time to understand what we hoped to see and did everything possible to make those dreams come true. Thanks to her effort and attention to detail, we experienced unforgettable wildlife sightings and magical moments that we will cherish forever. To top it all off, Leo remembered my birthday, which I had only mentioned briefly. She surprised us with a beautiful sundowner drink in the Serengeti, followed by a thoughtfully organized dinner complete with cake and singing. It was such a heartfelt touch and made the trip even more unforgettable. We highly recommend Safari by Leo to anyone seeking an authentic, personalized, and inspiring safari adventure in Tanzania. Thank you, Leo, for making our first safari experience truly exceptional!

We are visiting from Australia and have just completed a city tour of Moshi with Charles. The tour was excellent, Charles is a lovely person with a good sense of humour and speaks excellent English. He is well educated and has a deep knowledge of the town and Tanzanian and African history. We really enjoyed it and can highly recommend Charles for any tour you might think of doing.

17-Jul-2024

Leo and Charles are undoubtedly the best team in Tanzania safaris. I reached out to them inquiring about a unique itinerary on a difficult timeline and not only did they jump to make it happen for me but they ensured every step was perfect and full of life-lasting memories. They were extremely communicative and accommodating in the lead up and made sure all lodging and schedules suited me perfectly. As a regular female solo traveler, I’m used to all manner of guides but having one of the first female Tanzania park guides and overall powerhouse like Leo was a real treat and made me feel very safe. She was an absolute blast to spend several days with and was far more agile and attentive to my interests than any other guide I had in Africa. She didn’t just make sure I saw my Big 5 and favorite animals, she’d actively adapt our plans or find new things she thought I’d enjoy, and she also taught me a lot about the life, culture, and history. Leo’s even working to empower other young girls in the region among other charitable causes. There are truly no better people to help make your journey special. Leo and Charles certainly made mine a bucket list trip. Can’t wait to return with friends and family in tow!

Leo is such a wonderful,...

20-Dec-2024

Leo is such a wonderful, confident, knowledgeable and kind guide – you really can’t ask for more! My 10 yr old daughter and I are just back from a short, two day excursion a short drive from Moshi/Arusha. The first day was an off the beaten track safari in a Wildlife Management Area meaning, people (Masai) and animals are left to live their lives together as has been the case for centuries. Off-roading is allowed, yet animals are used to people more than vehicles. We at times dismounted from the car – whether for a picnic under the shade of a tree, or to stretch our legs, walking to greet the giraffes and zebras who examined us with great curiosity. The ostriches played, chasing smaller birds and dancing, putting on shows for each other. The elephants allowed us to watch them ever so quietly as they grazed on lush grasses after having cooled themselves in mud pools. We passed many traditional Masai villages and saw children herding goats or relaxing, playing in ponds. It was an amazing example of people and animals living together in harmony. Remarkably, on this safari, we came across only one other tour vehicle. This was a far cry from the experience I’ve had at higher cost, bigger name safari destinations, never having to jostle with other vehicles for prime views of animals. That whole day felt so glorious and free, at one with nature. Leo as a guide, is full of information and insights about animals, birds, and local communities, able to answer all of our questions about the magnificent creatures we came across. She shared lots of information, yet just enough information, always so relevant. It is an art for a tour guide to be able to share knowledge without the feel of regurgitating chapters of animal textbooks. Leo’s knowledge, love and respect for wildlife obviously runs deep. The second day we had a 5-hour day hike on the heights of west Mt. Kilimanjaro. While I have climbed the mountain a few decades ago, this was an excellent introduction to mountain climbing for my daughter – not overly strenuous and with rewarding, exquisite views. Mt. Kilimanjaro is notably shy, usually hiding behind cloud cover. Leo made sure we woke early enough to get a head start on the climb, not only beating the crowds, but also affording us excellent, picture perfect views of the peak. The route she selected is also ‘off the beaten path’ – not the most popular route, but with views unlike what I ever had when I climbed the popular route as a teenager. Not once during our hike did we cross paths with another hiker! Again…the day felt glorious and free! Leo’s care and interest in us over these two days felt special and genuine. She is patient, and listens for what it is we really want out of the experience, and focusses on making sure we have the time of our life. As a side note, while I didn’t travel with my female partner this time, I was open with Leo about my being LGBTQ and she was completely at ease, never making me feel uncomfortable, ‘wierd’, nor judged. Besides her being very good at engaging children in a fun and educational, age-appropriate way, she loves to sing! In case you yourself are musical and like a good song, this makes any long drive feels joyous and fulsome. Our spirits were well nurtured by the end of the 2 days, and any guilt I felt for taking my child out of school early to make this trip to Tanzania faded away instantly. This was an education of a lifetime. If we make it to Tanzania another time, Leo has shared with us many other off the beaten track adventures that speak directly to our love for adventure and challenge. There is no doubt that we will again travel with Safari by Leo!
