ARRIVAL IN CROATIA & SIGHTSEEING

On arrival at Split Airport we are met and transferred to the delightful town of Trogir, a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. Here we have our guided tour around this historical and fascinating town and enjoy an early 3 course lunch at the Restaurant Tragos ( or similar). After lunch we take our coach to Split, Croatia’s second largest city, where we have our guided sightseeing tour and discover its varied history dating back to the Roman times.
We then transfer to Makarska and check in to our hotel for the week

VILLAGES OF MOUNT BIOKOVO

Setting off from the village of Bast, we cross over the Smokvina River admiring the steep cliffs of Mount Biokovo and through the picturesque villages of Mletin Bor, Baskovic, Veliko Brdo and Makar. The whole route affords wonderful views of the entire western part of the Makarska Riviera, the coastal towns of Split and the central islands. A picnic lunch will be taken along the trail.

THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE BREJAN LABOURERS

Our walk today follows good paths, and the odd bit of forest gravel road, from Upper Brela to the Church of St. Nicholas, dating back to the 13th-century. It is then over to Nevestina Stina for picturesque views of the sandy beaches and villages below with lunch as a picnic en route to Topic, a charming village on the mountain slopes with beautifully preserved Dalmatian architecture.

CETINA RIVER CANYON

After breakfast we take our coach to Kostanje village to start todays walk. Our route follows a path through the village and out into vineyards and olive groves before steadily climbing along the narrow track into this picturesque canyon. Here we will be surrounded by nature, walking through this impressive deep canyon to the small town of Omis.

BIOKOVO – THE ADRIATIC THRONE

For our last days walk we take our coach to Biokovo peak. Today our route follows a well-beaten hiking trail on rocky ground and partly through beech forest, the path begins at St. Jure, Biokovo’s highest peak. With amazing views over the whole of Zabiokovlje Sinj to the Vrgorac Central mountains and around to Sarajevo (capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina) we continue on foot to Vosac peak where more stunning views across the whole of Dalmatia await. Lunch is taken in a mountain hut.
