Visa & Health Information

Visa

Most nationalities do now require a visa for Kenya, including Britons, most EU nationals, Australians, New Zealanders, Americans, and Canadians.  At present single entry and transit visas are available online (see below) and soon all visas will have to be obtained online. Alternatively, visas are available in advance or on arrival. The Kenyan government is planning for all visas to be obtained online and may stop delivering visas on arrival on short notice. For the latest information please contact your local Kenyan High Commission or Consulate.   The cost of the visa is US$50 for a single entry visa and US$100 for an East Africa visa (valid to travel in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda – if the website still says coming soon please check with the Kenyan High Commission. You will need to first register to the e-citizens website (including needing a photo 500px x 500px) before you can start applying. For the application process itself, you will need details of the accommodation used (which we will send you) and itinerary as well as a photo 5.5cm x 5.5cm and a scanned or photographed copy of your passport’s bio/photo page. If after visiting Kenya you will also travel to Uganda and Rwanda, you may apply for East African Visa that will cover all three countries. This visa is currently available upon arrival in Nairobi. Please contact the Kenyan High Commission to obtain more information about the combined visa from Kenya.

Vaccinations

There are no mandatory vaccination requirements. Recommended vaccinations are: Polio, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Typhoid, Hepatitis A. Malaria prophylaxis is essential and we suggest that you seek advice from your GP or travel health clinic about which malaria tablets to take. Dengue fever is a known risk in places visited. It is a tropical viral disease spread by daytime biting mosquitoes. There is currently no vaccine or prophylaxis available for Dengue, and therefore the best form of prevention is to avoid being bitten. We recommend you take the usual precautions to avoid mosquito bites.

StarLuck Travel Ltd planned a safari for my family and I to Nakuru National Park during the festive holidays and the experience was fantastic. The booking was on short notice but James came through and delivered a very nice Safari Landcruiser that exceeded our expectations. The driver came earlier than expected and was really patient with us as we prepared to leave. He is very professional and has a good understanding of the animals found in the park. He took us to the park and brought us back safely. I would recommend them for all your safari plans. Asanteni sana StarLuck Travel Ltd!

We used Starluck for our...

16-Jan-2024

We used Starluck for our trip to Masai Mara in December 2023 and there were errors in their itinerary and miscommunication around park fees: - The itinerary they shared upon booking included a game drive on the 3rd day and this was canceled without notifying us. The trip was advertised as "3-days of unlimited game drives" on Instagram and this is completely FALSE. If anything it is around ~1 day in the park and you pay for two nights at the lodge. This is extremely inefficient because you spend about 12-14 hours roundtrip driving back and forth from Nairobi to the Mara (not including all the wasted time with pick-ups and drop-offs in the shared vehicle for several different lodges), for less than 12 hours total in the park. - We also triple-checked the park fees with the travel agent before booking, checked that 1 day of fees is valid for a 24-hour period, and confirmed with several messages in writing that there would be no additional fees, only to find out that the daily park fees were higher and only valid for 12 hours than advertised when we entered the park on day 1. They said that these park fees had changes recently; however, the change was made on July 1st 2023 so they should have been well aware of this. This made it even more frustrating that we were not able to have sufficient time in the park given how much we were unexpetedly paying. After several messages and phone calls during our vacation, explaining these errors to their team, they finally came back with a 'resolution' - rather than any kind of refund, they offered a credit voucher for a future booking for less than a mere $10 USD per person (for 2 people in the book), which is less than 5% of the total booking cost! Of course, we don't plan to use their service again and we rejected their voucher. Don't fall for their false advertising and book with an agency that provides accurate information about their safaris.

24-Jul-2023

This is the probably the worst safari experiences I ever had with Startluck Travel. We had a group of 8 people and booked a 10-day with 9-night package service with them. The two drivers (also the guides) assigned to us were totally unprofessional, especially the guy who name is Carlos. The driver Carlos has been playing the game during the safari with us all the time. For example, during one of the safari days, he left and dropped us in the middle of the game drive and asked us to join the other group to continue the drive, as he told us he needed to go to pick up the park tickets and had his car have maintenance service. Also, one of the days, he just disappeared and remained unreachable for the entire day, as a result, we lost one day to experience the game drive and were left in the hotel for doing nothing. The company Starluck did NOTHING and was unable to resolve the issue after receiving our reports and complaints, which was totally a disappointment. That being said, this is ABSOLUTLY not a company to recommend.

I just got back from Kenya but had horrible experience with Starluck Travel. We were a group of 8 people and assigned with 2 drivers, but one of the drivers who name is Carlos was totally a jerk and left us in the middle of the game drive during the day, and the next day, he just disappeared and remained unreachable for the entire day and lef us in the hotel for doing nothing. It was a total disaster to book the safari with this company and it ruined my entire trip and experience.
