Tour Overview
Intriguing for their fabulous blend of British and French influences, we’ll take in the two largest of the Channel Islands on our relaxed 8-day holiday. Staying in lovely properties close to their capitals, there’ll be a balance of included excursions and time to stroll for yourself through these characterful towns. In Jersey, we’ll wander through renowned vineyards and explore the island fort of Elizabeth Castle, before crossing to Guernsey for sandy crescent beaches and stunning views. The perfect duo.
Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1
Location: Saint Helier
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Jersey. On arrival, we transfer to our hotel in St Helier.
Day 2
Location: La Mare Wine Estate
The morning is at leisure to enjoy the pool and facilities at the hotel. Or the restaurants, boutiques and beach of Jersey’s cosmopolitan and foodie capital are only a 10-minute walk away. In the afternoon, we travel to St Mary in the north of the island to visit the La Mare Wine Estate to sample the locally grown wine and abundant local produce. Home to rows of manicured vines, a distillery and kitchen, La Mare is the only working vineyard in Jersey, and the estate produces everything from wines and spirits, to preserves for its cream teas.
Day 3
Location: Jersey
Today we head out on a full-day tour of Jersey. Jersey feels much larger than its five by nine miles dimensions. This is down to its international feel and the breadth of its scenery - with landscapes that stretch from golden swathes of gentle beaches to wave-battered Atlantic cliffs, castle-topped coastlines, lavender fields and an endless maze of green country lanes. Jersey also punches above its small size culturally - with sophisticated towns and stylish fishing villages dotted with Michelin star restaurants, yacht-filled harbours, galleries and museums.
On the south of the island are the sweeping sands of St Aubin’s Bay, home to Elizabeth Castle - a fortress sat atop a rocky tidal islet. The battlements, bunkers, hidden rooms and passageways have formed part of Jersey’s defence for more than 400 years. We’ll then head to the crystal-clear waters and palm studded promenade of St Brelade - Jersey’s most recognised beach. Travelling north, we stop at Grève de Lec - a beautiful forest-backed beach popular with locals, and St Ouens - whose loose white sands, grassy dunes and rolling waves are popular with surfers. We also see the Corbiere Lighthouse, and Gorey Harbour - whose castle was built to protect Jersey from the French in the early 13th century.
Day 4
Location: Saint Helier
Today is free to relax and explore St Helier independently. We love the old town, where the facades are a mix of French and British styles, and the streets bear French names. St Helier also has great parks, with the immaculately groomed gardens of Howard Davis Park just next to our hotel, as well as amazing people-watching and dining on the glamorous waterfront.
Day 5
Location: Saint Helier, Saint Peter Port
Today we take the ferry to Guernsey and transfer to our hotel on the outskirts of Guernsey’s capital, St Peter Port.
Day 6
Location: Guernsey
The second largest Channel Island after Jersey, Guernsey is more than just potatoes, long-lashed cows and knitted Guernsey sweaters. More unassuming than Jersey but no less beautiful, the island has gorgeous champagne-coloured beaches, hidden wild swim spots and a wonderful dining scene.
We explore with an included tour around the island, and we’ll visit Pleinmont Point - a grassy headland with amazing ocean views and a vast concrete Nazi observation tower that’s a stark contrast to the natural beauty of its surroundings. We also see the famous Little Chapel, a tiny but intricate pebble and ceramic studded replica of a chapel in Lourdes built by a French priest in the early 20th century. It’s a much-loved Guernsey landmark. Finally, we visit L’Ancresse Bay and Pembroke Beach on the north of the island - a stretch of fine white sand lapped by clear waters.
Day 7
Location: Saint Peter Port
Today is at leisure to enjoy the hotel or explore the compact but charming capital of St Peter Port - home to historic cobbled streets, an 800-year-old harbour-front castle and an amazing array of fresh-off-the-boat seafood, French and artisanal restaurants.
Or there’s an optional trip to the tiny, car-free island of Sark, with blonde beaches and cute towns stacked with seafood restaurants and cream tea cafés. A tractor-drawn trailer will take you up the steep incline of Harbour Hill, from where you can discover the natural beauty of this tranquil island for yourself. The waters around Sark are rich in marine life, so keep an eye out for dolphins on the ferry over.
Day 8
Location: Guernsey
We transfer to the airport for the return flight. Upon arrival your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
