Tour Overview
This enticing walking tour begins on the Cycladic island of Tinos and ends on the island of Syros, both of which remain quite unspoilt with a very Greek character. Tinos is pretty, extremely green and lush and famous both for its’ cathedral of the Panagia and decorated dovecots whilst Syros is an elegant and sophisticated island with an unusual architecture and a grand port.

Your Guide
Your guide is Jonathan Peat. Jonathan has been guiding walks in SW France, his adopted home for more than 20 years. His tours in Greece have proved enormously popular and our expanded range of tours in France and Greece have been tried and tested by him for many years – his philosophy remains the same wherever he guides: to introduce the visitor to the unspoilt, beautiful nature of a region, and its authentic culture.
Day 1: Fly from London Gatwick to Mykonos. On arrival travel by boat to Tinos for a four night stay at the Golden Beach Hotel. Welcome dinner at local taverna.
Day 2: Falatados circular walk. We walk across a huge variety of landscapes today, encountering pretty villages, ancient oak forests, as well as a ‘moonscape’. We enjoy lunch in a local taverna before walking back to our hotel.
Day 3: The marbled village of Pirgos. From the village of Pirgos on the far west of the island, we walk up to the church of the Prophet Elija, which has wonderful views in every direction. We then descend to Panormos for lunch (and a swim) in a pretty fishing village, before returning to Pirgos to explore this attractive and fascinating village.
Day 4: The fortress of Exembourgo to Kolimbithres. From the ruined Venetian fortress at Exembourgo, an ancient footpath takes us down to Koumaros and Volax, and on through a beautiful and lush valley with olive groves, oak trees, small chapels and numerous dovecotes to our lunch spot at Agapi. After lunch continue northwards until we reach the bay of Kolimbithra, for a refreshing dip.
Day 5: Journey to Syros. We catch the morning ferry to Syros (approx. 40 minutes) and transfer to the Hermes hotel for a three-night stay. Rest of the day free to relax.
Day 6: Graffiti of the Ancient Mariners. From the far north of the island at Kambos, we descend to the beautiful bay of Gramatta where we will see the remains of graffiti left by ancient mariners dating back several millennium. A picnic lunch on the beach and a swim in the crystal clear waters will prepare us for the return climb to Kambos and back by bus to Syros with en route visits to churches, a British cemetery and a Rembetiko (a style of music) museum.
Day 7: Kini to Papouri and Syros Town. Starting from Kini, we take a boat to Barbarossa, where we can swim before ascending a wild and picturesque valley that takes us for lunch in a charming little taverna in Papoura and along the backbone of the island through Rixotopo and down to Syros Town. Evening at leisure.
Day 8: Transfer by boat to Mykonos for the return flight to London Gatwick.
NB: Exact order of excursions may vary according to local conditions and tour manager's discretion.
Please note the maximum group size on this tour is 15 passengers.

HEALTH & INSURANCE – EHIC CARD
Please note that EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) only allows access to the same state-provided healthcare as a resident of the EU country they are temporarily visiting. It is NOT an alternative to travel insurance and will not provide the same level of cover as a travel insurance policy. The EHIC will not cover any private medical healthcare or the cost of things such as repatriation to the UK or lost or stolen property. It is also important to note that each country’s healthcare system is slightly different, so the EHIC might not cover everything that would be generally free on the NHS. On the EHIC application website, there is a section called Access to Healthcare Abroad which clarifies all the conditions and inclusions. We strongly recommend that you take out an appropriate travel insurance policy when you travel abroad.
