Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

Pick up from your hotel at 7:am and transfer to take the train to Aguas Calientes, experiencing spectacular views of the varied landscapes from the Andes where you’ll see picturesque villages, colorful files, beautiful canyons, and follow the Urubamba River across mountains until you reach Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival the town around noon, you’ll check-in in your hotel, relax, have lunch and explore the city on your own, you can visit Machu Picchu museum and orchid station that is located just 30 minutes walk from the city or unwind in the hot springs located just 15 minutes hike from the town. In the evening you’ll have dinner at Indio Feliz restaurant, considered one of the best ones in the town.

Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco

Location: Machupicchu District

Meals Included: Breakfast

The Final and Most important day is worth to get up early, have breakfast in the hotel, and board the first buses to Machu Picchu to enter the site. You’ll have a short hike first to Sungate or Inca Bridge (optional) and then the Tour Guide will take you in a comprehensive tour for about 3-hours, exploring the best of Machu Picchu; temples, palace, plazas, and learn about the Inca citadel. After the guided tour you’ll have free time to explore the site by yourself or climb either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain (optional and not included). After you finish with Machu Picchu you’ll take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, have lunch (not included) and take the Visatdome panoramic train back to Cusco, you be dropped off back at your hotel around 7.30 pm.

Unreal experience

This trip was hands down one of the most challenging and rewarding trips I have ever done. Suffice to say the Inca trail will push you mentally and physically but without the continuous support and encouragement from our tour guide Elisban I don’t think I could have completed it. Elisban was an outstanding tour guide, giving us such great insight into the life of the Incas and the nature surrounding the trail. Along the trail there are numerous Inca sites which were incredible to see and learn about. I learnt so much more than I thought I would on this trek thanks to our tour guide. I have to give a massive thank you to the chef, Lorenzo and suox chef, Abraham, for feeding us like kings and queens over the 4 days! I think I ate more on this trek than I normally do in day to day life, with full 3 course meals for lunch and dinner which perfectly satisfied the stomach and provided the nutrients it needed to get through the tough days of up and downhill hiking. Breakfast was always served with some hot cocoa tea which perfectly warmed the body in the early mornings. Everyday we would be surprised with new dishes and some things we would never have imagined having on the trek (from chocolate pudding for desert to pancakes for breakfast). Lastly, but certainly not least, enormous respect goes out to the porters who make the whole trek possible. The team of porters, led by Ceaser, did an incredible job carrying 20+kg loads on their backs from each campsite along the whole trek. They were super friendly to all of us despite not speaking English, they showed their support through clapping every time we would leave and arrive at lunch and camp spots and the hugs on goodbye at the end of the trek. Overall, the trek was certainly one I will remember forever, it amazed me how supportive everybody is, everybody claps each other when passing each other on the trek, encouraging everyone to keep on pushing and making it to the end. Would highly recommend TreXperience (T-Rex group) to anyone considering doing the Inca Trail. They really care about not only the clients but also their workers and you are guaranteed an enjoyable experience (yes, even when your legs are begging you to stop walking)! Thank you trexperience!

Life changing trip

This was the most incredible experience of my life. TreXperience went above and beyond in order for us to experience the true Inca trail. Our tour guide Charlie was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable, he always made us feel comfortable and did everything to help us get the most out of this experience. He is a testament to the company, I appreciated him greatly. This trip wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing porters as well. We only knew the most basic Spanish but these guys were so cheerful and friendly and always put in 100% effort to help us out throughout the trip. Last but not least, our chef who was also a porter for the trip. I would never have expected to eat 2 or 3 course meals on a 4 day hike, I didn’t even think it was possible but I was proven very wrong. Almost every meal had multiple courses and the food we had on this hike was some of the best food I have ever eaten in my life.

Absolutely cool, once in a lifetime experience - walking the inca trail on the 2 day tour by TreXperience with our person guide: MAURO! He was such a cool guide, explaining us a lot about the nature on the path, history of the Incas and Quechas, their buildings, Latin American and especially Peruvian history - AMAZING. Also driving in the train was superb experience. Seeing Machu Picchu when coming through the Sungate after the whole day walking on the Inca trail: unbelievable cool! Yes, it was relatively expensive, however, it was all organised perfectly and everything was of excellent service, can deeply recommend this as long as Machu Picchu can still be visited!

Luxurious camping trip with magical scenery and wonderful people

Short version: Just do it! Being my first hiking trip and my first trip to Peru this trek tour has exceeded my expectations and I would love to do another trekking trip with TreXperience! It was magical, fun, safe and educational. Long version: Pre-tour communication and information from the TreXeperinece team was from the very beginning consistent and fast. They were always ready to answer and to help with whatever I needed. We also had a pre-tour meeting which set the expectations and was really helpful. The highlight and expected part of this trip was the Peruvian nature and it does not disappoint! Along the way we saw snowy mountains, luscious green valleys and forests, blue lagoons, wild rivers and waterfalls, and no matter how many photos you take, the pictures don't do it justice. Peru is truly a magical country and its nature is such a unique and hidden gem! The Lares Trek was an amazing way to experience Peruvian nature! However, my favorite and unexpected part of the tour were the local people we met on our way. It was humbling to see the conditions to which they live under. We also had a local team of cooks and horsemen with us, who prepared delicious soulful meals for us, carried our things for us and always made sure we felt comfortable. Each cold morning they woke us up with a fresh cup of hot coca tea and a small tub with hot water so we could wash up. The delicious meals our masterchef Leonardo prepared, were always different each day, so colorful and vibrant using only local ingredients. He even baked a cake in the middle of nowhere with no oven! It was these tiny details that made the trip so sweet. They really worked hard to make it all come together and it did not go unseen. This team is actually hired by TreXperience for the tour. Meaning when you book a tour with them, you employ and help local people, and you make a difference! As for our tour guides we had Charlie and Juvenal. During the tour I suffered from altitude sickness but both Charlie and Juvenal always kept an eye on me, especially Juvenal that was always by my side making sure that I was okay to continue. I really appreciated that effort. Our group leader Charlie, is a very professional and skilled toureader and I felt very safe and comfortable being in his group. Furthermore his knowledge about Peruvian history and culture is vast and together with his vivid storytelling abilities, I think that he is an exceptionally talented tour guide! Very few like him and it was a pleasure to learn about Peruvian history and culture from him! Are you still in doubt? I'm not. Go ahead and book that tour already :)
