Chandannagar is a tiny town located along the bank of river Hooghly. This small town for over a period of 300 years has an exceptional blend of culture and heritage which is incomparable in history. Chandannagar still has a lot of French heritage and was a French colony till 1950. Till today French is taught as a third language in many of Chandannagar's schools. Explore famous monuments as Durgacharan Rakshit Ghat on the Strand is an exciting mix of Indo - French architecture. Also on the Strand is the Duplex's Museum, housing a French Museum. Just off The Strand, is the Sacred Heart Church, one of the prime attractions of Chandannagar.

Carry on your drive to Serampore.

In the early 17th century, India’s wealth and riches, starting from the varied spices to its silk, to pottery and jewelry fascinated the Europeans to create bases settled in the little towns by river Ganges within the 80 km stretch from Kolkata. The first European colony to get permission to set up trading outposts in Bandel was the Portuguese trailed by the Dutch in Chinsurah, Danish in Serampore, French in Chandannagar and lastly the British in Kolkata.
Discovering the colonial heritage of Bengal is a once in a lifetime kind of experience that remnants its roots to legacies that have withstood the ravages of time, and a day excursion trips at each of these pre-colonial cities crouched in history digs deep emphasising the growth and the downfall of the European colonization in this subcontinent. Visit some memorials such as
Serampore College – An iconic institute with historical importance and beautiful colonial architecture.
Serampore Ramakrishna Mission – A serene divine centre with attractive architecture and serene surroundings and many more monuments.

Experiences with TTI

09-Nov-2023

Had to postpone trip to South india because of COVID and chaotic international air flights in late 2021-early 2022. Trip is rescheduled for September 2023 with Air India. Ashu is the world’s best travel agent, he has helped us so much to salvage the trip. We went on a month-long trip to North and South India in 2015 that he planned that was the best we have ever been on. TTI and Ashu are great and I highly recommend them!

Golden Triangle + Jaisalmer

21-Mar-2024

We had a pleasant trip in India using Travel & Tour. Ashu was really helpful and responsive in arranging the itineraries we desire. The driver was on time and they did their best to drive us to any place we wanted to go to. They gave recommendation and tips to travel in India so we didn't experience any scam. Everything went as planned.

Amazing 5th trip and once again it was excellent

24-Apr-2024

This was our 5th trip with TravelnTours, since 2011. Another well organised tour as usual with lots of communication with Ashu. Latest trip was to Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Included palaces, temples, caves, botanical gardens, tea plantations, nature reserves looking for wildlife, Kerala backwaters and the Marari beaches Trip was well organised and ran to plan apart from the late train! Hari the driver was efficient and timely and an experienced driver on some busy difficult roads. Good and timely communication with him. Enjoyed all the hotels . The old harbour hotel in Fort kochi was a haven from the noisy, busy areas outside the walls Enjoyed the nature in contrast to the temples and palaces. Hotel Vyrithi was lovely. Staff amazing as well as food. Glad we had a day where we stayed at the resort and relaxed, in it's surroundings. Tree house was fun. Enjoyed the dam and the lake and the caves on our trip from the hotel Enjoyed Ooty and Coonoor. Teanest was nice too. Rooms a bit dated, but clean. Lovely location and relaxing. Our day of rest there, meant we could sit in the garden, read and relax amongst amazing scenery. When you have nice hotels in lovely locations, it's good to spend time actually at hotel and grounds rather than going off to look at something else. Food good from there too and accomodating with time of breakfast . Hotel marari beach was lovely to finish with. Buffet evening meal worth it's value of 1700 ruppees.lovely staff there too. All hotel beds comfortable and quiet at night. Good use of WhatsApp with Hari the driver to communicate with him, although his English wasn't vast. But we managed. Backwater boat was lovely again too. Food good here too. Lots of good memories of India. Found Jan/Feb, a better time to visit than April. Would not hesitate to book with TravelNtours again and recommend wholly. Would give advice to anyone looking to tour India.
