Tour Overview

One of the most popular trekking destinations in the Himalayas, Annapurna circuit trek covers the major highlights of the entire Annapurna region. The moderate to demanding trekking destination includes high altitude passes and requires high level of physical fitness and great health conditions during the trek. Still, the trekkers do not require high technical expertise to pass the trekking route. Probably one among many reasons contributing to the popularity of the trek. The trekking offers beautiful sceneries and views of the yak grazing lands and snow capped mountain ranges mainly Annapurna- I, II, III and Mount Dhaulagiri. This is most ideal trekking route for Mountain photography enthusiasts. It also allows mingling in the Lama and Tibetan culture and experience the local mountain life of the remote Himalayan Nepalese districts. It is referred as the classical trek in Nepal due to its popularity among trekking enthusiasts around the world. Before talking about anything, understanding the Annapurna circuit develops more enthusiasm and mind-boggling excitement. So, let’s understand the Annapurna circuit first; Annapurna actually means “full of food”, in Sanskrit. In Hinduism, Annapurna is the goddesses of Harvest. The mountain is named after the goddesses. Annapurna is a massif in the Himalayas with 6 major peaks and many other infamous peaks. The major ones Annapurna I, II, III, IV, V and Gangapurna. Annapurna circuit is the trek around the trails surrounding the Annapurna massif. The trek in the circuit begins from Bulbule, heading towards Jagat, to Dharapani, to Chame, to Pisang, to Manang, to Yakkharka, to Thorang phedi, to Thorang La, to Muktinath and ends at Jomsom. The entire circuit falls in the Annapurna conservation area and is rich in flora and fauna too. The journey begins from departure from Kathmandu to arriving at Bulbule (840 meters above sea level) where the actual trekking begins. From bulbule the trail heads forward towards Jagat, Dharapani, to Chame and Pisang following the Marshyangdi river valley. We trek to Manang where we stay for acclimatization, a preparation to adapt in the high altitude to cross Thorang La pass. From Manag, we head towards Yak Kharka, and to Thorang Phedi and pass Thorang La pass (5416 meters above the sea level), it is the highest trekking route in the world. From Thorang La, we head down towards Muktinath, a Hindu shrine and a sacred pilgrimage for both Hindus and Buddhists. From Muktinath, we trek to Jomsom and to Tatopani. From Tatopani, we’ll drive to Pokhara and then back to Kathmandu.
