Tour Overview

Set on the shores of the vast Llanquihue Lake in Chile, the picturesque Puerto Varas is known for its stunning natural scenery, traditional German-style architecture and excellent range of accommodation. The town offers incredible views of the snow-capped but active Osorno and Calbuco Volcanoes and magnificent waterfalls of the lake. The Alerce Andino National Park, in the Andes Mountains to the south, provides another world to explore nearby, featuring lush green forests perfect for hiking and turquoise blue waters ideal for canoeing. Many German families settled in this southern Chilean town at the end of the 19th century and their influences are still evident in the local architecture, cuisine and traditions today. Puerto Varas features an excellent range of guesthouses, hotels, and restaurants serving traditional German food.

Day 1 : Puerto Varas

Location: El Tepual Airport, Compass del Sur

Day 2 : Puerto Varas

Location: Compass del Sur, Llanquihue Lake, Osorno volcano, Calbuco, Volcán Osorno Centro de Ski y Montaña, Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, Petrohue, Todos los Santos Lake, Petrohué Waterfalls, Compass del Sur

Breakfast and pick up for the Osorno Volcano and Petrohue Tour.

You will walk along the shore of Lake Llanquihue enjoying incredible views of the snow-capped Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes and you will arrive at Ensenada to start the ascent to the Volcan Osorno Ski and Mountain Center, located at 1.240 meters high. There, we will have some time to enjoy the landscape, take pictures and to appreciate breathtaking panoramic views of the volcanoes summits with their glaciers and of the Calbuco, of Lake Llanquihue and of the Pacific Ocean.

The next stop will be the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park and Petrohué, located on the shore of Todos los Santos Lake, taking a soft walk on its paths surrounded by ever-green forests. Then you will go to the Saltos del Rio Petrohué, one of the most beautiful places of this region, where the river jumps amidst big masses of hard crystallized lava that highlight its turquoise colored waters. Afterwards, you will have the transfer back to hotel in Puerto Varas.

*Note: this tour is NOT an ascent to the peak of the Osorno Volcano

Day 3 : Puerto Varas

Location: Compass del Sur

Accommodation: Hostel, La Guapa Hostel Casa and Kalfu Boutique Hotel
