Tour Overview
Start in Glasgow on this breathtaking holiday to Scotland. Experience three spectacular rail journeys: two steam-hauled plus one on the famous West Highland Line. See Stirling and its distinctive ancient town, on the doorstep of Loch Lomond. In Aviemore we join the steam railway and witness stunning scenery as we travel through the Spey Valley. From Inverness we appreciate amazing views aboard the Kyle Line Railway. We then journey to Fort William, where we board the Jacobite Steam Railway to Mallaig (or vice versa) and witness spectacular sights from the Glenfinnan Viaduct to Loch Morar. Our last stop is the vibrant Scottish capital, Edinburgh, where you have time to explore its many sights.

To Edinburgh for free time. Often referred to as the ‘Athens of the North’ and, because it was built on seven hills, likened to Rome, Edinburgh is indeed a classical city in its own right. Overlooking the Old Town is the massive castle, with its commanding view of the city and surrounding countryside, including the Firth of Forth. The almost chaotic layout of the Old Town is in complete contrast to the northern part of the city built in Georgian times and reflecting the great architectural characteristics of that period. Laid out to a grand design, the New Town has wide streets and elegant squares and is bordered to the south by Princes Street Gardens and to the north by Queen Street Gardens. Highlights include the Royal Mile, the Palace of Holyrood and Sir Walter Scott Monument. We head to our overnight hotel in the Glasgow area.
