Day 1 : Torquay

Torquay has been one of the UK's top holiday destinations since Victorian times when the Riviera name was used to describe this favourite of resorts. Their legacy remains with sparkling white villas perched on the hilltops and elegant Victorian facades along the main streets to make a beautiful setting for a perfect coach break.

Torquay's famous seven hills provide the backdrop to the waterfront, with 22 miles of coastline, cliffs, coves, beaches and walks to rival any in the South West of England and a climate that belongs somewhere much further south. Stunning views can be seen just about everywhere across the bay, out over the English Channel.

Torquay is very much a place to relax, in the many pavement cafés, pubs and restaurants, so soak up the atmosphere, take in the scenery, stroll around the parks and the gardens – everything you need for a an enjoyable coach holiday in a traditional English seaside resort!

Day 2 : Exeter

Situated on the River Exe, the vibrant city of Exeter is the capital of Devon. Small in size, it still has plenty to offer thanks to its rich and long history.

Magnificent Exeter Cathedral, founded in the 11th century, is the city’s main landmark. One of the finest examples of Gothic architecture, notable features include an early set of misericords, a 15th-century astronomical clock, a minstrels’ gallery and the longest uninterrupted Gothic vaulted ceiling in the world.

The unique Underground Passages, built to house the pipes that brought clean drinking water into medieval Exeter, provide a memorable experience while the award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum offers an insight into the city’s 2,000-year history.

The beautiful and historic quayside area offers an eclectic mix of antique shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs and bars and is also a lovely place for a riverside stroll.

With a great range of independent shops and boutiques plus a vibrant arts scene, there’s plenty to discover in this attractive city in the heart of Devon.

Day 3 : Dawlish & Teignmouth

Once a tiny fishing village, the Victorian Railway age transformed Dawlish into a bustling seaside town. The railway still runs alongside the seafront today and overlooks the lovely sandy beach. The town is centred around the famous lawn and brook, home to the famous Black Swans, and offers a range of classic amusements, shops and tea rooms.

The charming estuary town of Teignmouth is idyllically located on the mouth of the River Teign and is surrounded by rolling Devonshire countryside. Boasting a bustling harbour as well as the traditional attractions of a seaside resort, there is plenty to explore. Discover the historic Georgian buildings and Victorian pier, enjoy an ice cream along the long promenade and admire the stunning views across the bay, set against the backdrop of striking red sandstone cliffs.

Day 4 : Brixham

Nestled on the stunning English Riviera, picturesque Brixham is one of the jewels in the treasure trove of Devonian towns. As one of the busiest fishing ports in the UK, seafood fans won’t be disappointed here, with deliciously fresh offerings on the harbourside menus and fish and chip shops aplenty!

For art lovers, Brixham is home to a wonderful range of galleries featuring local and guest artists, while there’s also plenty of fascinating exhibitions documenting the town’s cultural and maritime heritage in Brixham Museum. Another popular attraction is the Golden Hind replica, an authentic recreation of Sir Francis Drake’s famous ship with five decks of Tudor history to experience.

After all that exploring, take the chance to enjoy an ice cream by the harbour, where the bobbing boats are beautifully framed by Brixham’s colourful buildings.

Day 5 : Dartmouth

Lying within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the stunning town of Dartmouth is located on the picturesque River Dart and is a lovely place to spend a few hours. The vibrant harbour town is a food-lovers paradise and showcases Devon’s local produce, from seafood to fudge, and there’s plenty more to discover here. Take a stroll to Dartmouth castle, enjoying the views of the sparkling waters on the way, or explore the wide range of art galleries, museums and shops dotted along the historic winding streets.
