Check out our Q&As

  • What is the fitness level required to do this tour?

For those who relish a vertical adrenaline rush, this trip is perfect! No prior via ferrata experience is required, but a good head for heights and climbing skills are beneficial. A moderate to high fitness level is needed for a day of via ferrata climbing. Regular physical activity, be it gym workouts, hill walking, running, climbing, or football, will prepare you well. Participants must be at least 14 years old.

  • Is there a supplement for solo travellers?

The prices are based on 2 people sharing a room. If you prefer a room to yourself, you will need to pay a supplement. This is reflected the pricing when you choose your rooms. We do not put solo travellers with strangers in rooms.

  • What happens if a group doesn’t make its minimum required number of passengers?

If the minimum numbers are not reached, you will be given the choice of a full refund, an altered itinerary or the possibility to pay a supplement to cover the additional costs. This would be offered to all participants so the outcome for the last two options also depends on their agreement too.

  • What is the maximum group size?

The maximum group size is 16 but in this case we would have 2 guides so in effect would operate like two groups.

ASHLEY BURKE - VIA FERRATA SHORT BREAK IN THE ALPS

Via ferrata trip with my son (25) Simply awesome, very well organised with great customer service from Sally. Spectacular views and excellent range of routes to climb. If your thinking of booking a via ferrata break, this won’t disappoint

JAMES WHYTE - VIA FERRATA SHORT BREAK IN THE ALPS

10-Jun-2023

Having recently been on the via ferrata trip (as a solo traveller joining three pairs I didn't know), I would thoroughly recommend both that trip and Undiscovered Mountains generally. Sally did a great job of organisation and communication, and Bernard was an excellent guide for the via ferratas - he adapted seamlessly to the weather conditions and the aptitude of the trip members, all with a cheery disposition. Plus the area was very beautiful. I hope to return - if I do, I will use Undiscovered Mountains again.

MARTIN WRIGHT - VIA FERRATA SHORT BREAK IN THE ALPS

26-Oct-2023

I can thoroughly recommend Undiscovered Mountains and the Via Ferrata Short Break in the Southern Alps in particular. I booked very last minute and Sally was quick to respond and help with the travel arrangements. The hotel was comfortable and clean, and the staff were all friendly. Our guide, Bernard, was excellent, and our small group meant we packed a lot into the 4 days. The Southern French Alps are beautiful, and more so in the sunshine from the side of a cliff! I would definitely adventure with Undiscovered Mountains again.
