Day 1 : Marangu Gate To Mandara Hut.

After breakfast and briefing, an Africa Natural Tours driver will take you for a 45-minute journey to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate, where hikers must register before starting their ascent of Kilimanjaro. In order to get to the Mandara camping spot, hikers must through the tropical rainforest. A wonderful way to view the environs, including Northern Tanzania and Kenya, is to take a side excursion to Maundi Crater. The hiker(s) begin the ascent to the summit very early in the morning (between midnight and two in the morning) over steep, heavy scree or snow up to Gilman's point, which is positioned on the crater flange. The highest peak in Africa, Uhuru Peak, is now reached after more hiking and ascent. Everywhere you turn, there are breathtaking vistas. To show your friends and family, hikers can get their photos taken at the peak. From there, we descend to the Horombo camping area, pausing at Kibo for lunch and a break before doing so. This ascent to the peak begins in the dark and requires the use of headlamps or flashlights. You will need all of your warm clothing and coats since it will be really chilly until you start descending. With several switchbacks, this is by far the hardest section of the hike. You may reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro climb, the highest point in Africa, by hiking gently and "pole." This method is the finest one to follow.

Just completed the Kilimanjaro trek - and made it to the top - the Roof of Africa. It was a test for sure. My group of friends went with Africa Natural Tours Ltd. They never tired of all my questions before the climb. I recommend them for the trek. The guides were knowledgeable and very sympathetic to our needs, ie the breaks to catch our breaths! They had a chef to cook our meals. The porters were friendly and really helpful. So worthwhile going to the top with Godfrey's operation: they can be trusted to look after clients’ interests and safety. We toured three safari parks with Godfrey's and their guide had a great knowledge and instinct for the job. He clearly loved his job and this was reflected in his sharing all his experiences with us. The food and accommodations were great too - we had a professional chef for the safaris- freshly baked bread every day! I recommend Africa Natural Tours Ltd wholeheartedly. They are proud of, and thorough in the service they provide, and it shows.
