In the reign of Ramesses III, more than two thirds of the property owned by the temples belonged to Amun, evidenced by the stupendous buildings at Karnak. Although badly ruined, no site in Egypt is more impressive than Karnak. It is the largest temple complex ever built by man, and represents the combined achievement of many generations of ancient builders. The Temple of Karnak is actually three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples located about three kilometers north of Luxor, Egypt situated on 100 ha (247 acres) of land. Karnak is actually the sites modern name. Its ancient name was Ipet-isut, meaning “The Most Select (or Sacred) of Places”.
Then move to Luxor Temple. It was built by Amenhotep III in 18th Dynasty in the New Kingdom and it was completed by Ramesses II during the 19th Dynasty. King Ramses II was the most famous king in the 19th Dynasty. He ruled Egypt for about 67 years. It was dedicated to the great god Amun-Ra, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu together representing the Theban triad. Enjoy visiting Obelisk of Ramses II in front of the 1st Pylon. It was called “Ipet resyt”, which means the Southern Opet or the Place of the Seclusion of Amun-Ra. It was directly connected to the temple of Karnak, the main cult centre of Amun-Ra or Amun -Min, the sky god or the ithyphallic fertility god. The temple of Luxor has, since its inception, always been a sacred site. After Egypt's pagan period, a Christian church and monastery was located here, and after that, a mosque (13th century Mosque of Abu el-Haggag) was built that continues to be used today, Transfer to the Nile Cruise. The most famous tomb is KV62, the Tomb of King Tutankhamun. The discovery of King Tut’s tomb was made by Howard Carter in 1922; Tutankhamun’s tomb was the first royal tomb to be discovered that was still largely intact. Standing on high grounds overlooking the Nile, the Temple of Sobek and Haroeris in Kom Ombo (also known simply as Kom Ombo Temple) dates from about 180 BC during the Ptolemaic era, with additions made into Roman times. The temple at Kom Ombo was also built at this time, under Ptolemy VI. Since this bend in the Nile was a favoured spot for crocodiles to bask in the sun and threaten locals, it is natural that the temple would be dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god. But it is unusual in having a double dedication: it also honors Haroeris, a form of the falcon-headed god Horus. The hypostyle halls were added under Ptolemy XIII (51-47 BC); the Roman emperor Trajan (53-117 AD) added the forecourt and outer enclosure walls. Dinner will be served on Board.

An excellent introduction tour for anyone who is interested in the best of Ancient Egypt. This covers all the major archeological highlights plus some very fun examples of Egyptian arts, crafts, and industry. Our tour guide, Meena is a fantastic and incredibly engaging and knowledgeable Egyptologist (and his fun retellings of Egyptian mythology and history) and made the tour all the more fantastic for us.

time in Egypt so amazing. Shokran

12-Aug-2021

I did a 9-day tour with Timeless Tours in August 2020. I will say that the tour company is very professional compared to another Egyptian tour company I used. The tour guides are on time, knowledgeable, prompt in communication, helpful and thoughtful when needed. Although we had a few mishaps due to corona virus, as there were unexpected travel restrictions during our tour. Management tried the best they could to get us where we were supposed to go and when that couldn't happen, they tried to figure out another best alternative for our group to be able to enjoy the rest of the tour. Timeless was very accommodating to our requests and understood we felt disappointed in not being able to go to Hurghada due to changes in govt. restrictions. I truly appreciate how the tour company took care of us in the end. Timeless takes safety protocols and covid19 precautions seriously. This is very important if you decide to travel during virus times, as the other tour company I traveled with, the tour guide and the driver did not wear masks and the guide tested positive after my tour, luckily enough I wore my mask and tried to social distance as much as I could and tested negative twice when I came back. It's vital you ask any tour company beforehand that the tour guides have a negative PCR test before the start of your tour and to remind everyone constantly to wear masks and social distance at all times.

time in Egypt so amazing. Shokran

Fascinating experience

12-Aug-2021

It was a fascinating experience of a lifetime, highly recommended!!! The Timeless company is very professional, the itinerary were wonderful, I was able to see most of the places that I wanted in 10 days. I actually went with a 3 night Nile cruise instead due to a small crowd in the Ovid season, we had an especially small group of 3. I arrived in Cairo alone at midnight, and was received by a Timeless agent at the custom, the clearance and transfer were fast and smooth, then I was received by Sam at the hotel at 1am. The people at Timeless are so dedicated, they work 24/7! For the next 10 days, the tour guide Samar stayed with me, she was amazing, the best guide I ever had!! She is very knowledgeable, helpful, and considerate. During the Nile cruise, I was able to go onto an additional tour to see the Edfu temple with carriage ride though it was not part of the itinerary. For the 2 days, I was the only guest for Samar due to Covid, I was lucky to get to visit the museum, Cairo, and 2 additional pyramids as private tours. All the transfers were so smooth in between the airport, hotels, cruise, bus, and the train. Some parts of Egypt may not be very safe, so we actually had a security guy with us on the tour bus (you should definitely go with a tour rather than travelling alone). The Timeless company is very professional and dedicated, highly recommended!
