Monastery Sevanavank Travel out of the city towards the north-western region of Armenia. First, stop at the city of the beautiful Lake Sevan, which is one of the world's highest fresh-water lakes, located about 1,900 meters above sea level. Enjoy a stroll beside the lake surrounded by tall mountain peaks. Admire the crystal-clear water of the lake in a truly tranquil location. Visit the nearby Sevanavank Monastery, which was built on the peninsula in the year 874. Admire the reflection of the churches on the still lake surface. Tsaghkadzor Ski Resort n Tsaghkadzor, the popular ski resort of Armenia, there is a chairlift with 5 stations and more than a dozen ski runs. The armchaired ropeway of Tsaghkadzor is located on the eastern slope of Mount Teghenis 1966-2819 m above sea level. In 2004 the former ropeway was replaced with a new, modern one, also in 2017 important investments were made. Now the ropeway is well equipped, the active and safe rest for tourists is guaranteed.

Day 1 : Khor Virap, Etchmiadzin & Zvartnots Excursion

The first Christian cathedral of Echmiadzin was founded in the IV century BC, whose name means “place of the descent of the Only Begotten.” A feature of the Cathedral is that in addition to the main altar in the eastern part, there is another altar in the middle, at the site of the descent of Christ. In the right-hand boundary of the Etchmiadzin Cathedral there is the Treasury Museum, where are kept relics, church clothes, embroidered with gold and pearls, catholicos’ staffs and crosses, numerous ritual objects made of gold, silver and ivory. On the territory of the monastery complex is also the residence of the Armenian patriarch – the Catholicos of all Armenians. Also here you will see many cross-stones, of which “Amenaprakich” (1279), and the cross-stone devoted to the victims of the 1915 genocide.

After the visit in the cathedral, guests will continue their explorations in Zvartnots Cathedral ruins that was regarded as the 7th century Armenian ecclesiastical architectural pearl. Day 2 : Geghard Monastery, Garni Temple & Yerevan

Not far from Yerevan, near Vokhchaberd village there is this usual at first glance arch. But when you climb the stairs and stand under it, this breathtaking view of Ararat opens to your eyes. It is Arch of Charents by famous architect Rafael Israelian. The arch is dedicated to famous Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents, who liked to walk near these places and admire the incredible view of Mount Ararat. This place is one of the favorite stops for practically all kinds of tourists, – one cannot just resist the temptation not to take few photos against the backdrop of the mountain.

Travelers will continue their tour to Geghard Monastery that is included in UNESCO World heritage List. The monastery had been one of the eminent piligrimage sites since medieval times. The name of the Monastery "Geghardavank" is derived from the Armenian word "geghard" that means "lance". The same lance that was used to stab Jesus during Crucifixion, and is now kept in the museum of Etchmiadin Cathedral.

Day 3 : Lake Sevan, Tsaghkadzor & Yerevan

After breakfast we will begin the discovery of the wonders of Lake Sevan. Located 1900 m above sea level, it is one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world. We will visit the 9th century monastery of Sevan which stands on top of the peninsula from where opens a splendid view over the lake. Afterwards, will drive to ski resort town Tsaghkadzor where we will visit the 13th century Ketcharis monastery. Afterwards, we can go towards Teghenis mountain and take the ropeway from where a beautiful panorama opens up over the whole region in case the traveler wants it because it is optional. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in a hotel in Yerevan.
