We go to the ancient town of Nurata. In Nurata, we visit Nurata Mausoleum and the ruins of the fort of Alexander the Great. The name of the town „Nurata “comes from the name of the fort Nur, which was founded in the 4th century BC when Alexander the Great’s garrison was here. A spring with refreshing water which was here, called chashma, was the main reason for the settlement. The holy source chashma is a place of pilgrimage and one of the most important religious centers of Islam in the region.
After lunch we continue via Gijduvan to Bukhara. Bukhara is called the Holy Land of the 7000 Peers (holy teachers). Your pilgrimage to the holy sites of Sufism starts with a visit to the graves of some of the seven Sufi leaders outside the town. In the suburb Gijduvan, we will see the grave complex of Abdulhalik Gijduvani (1103-1179). The town is also well-known all over Uzbekistan for its ceramics with particularly warm colors. The Ark fortress deserves special mention – an originally monumental fortification which was for centuries the residence of Bukhara’s Emirs, before the Soviets came to power. The oldest Muslim site in Bukhara and a real masterpiece of early Islamic architecture is the mausoleum of Ismail Samani. Trading arcades in the old town are more examples. Three of the remaining arcades house different traders: Toki Sarakhon (Bazaar of the money-changers), Toki Telpak Furushkhon (caps and hats Bazaar), Toki Zargaron (Bazaar of the jewelers). Dinner in an old Jewish house with a local Bukhara family. The Suzani embroiderer Abdurahman will tell us about embroidery in Bukhara. We will eat Emirs Plov.

DOCA TOURS deserves every positive reviews and testimonials I have ever read!

02-Nov-2019

I contacted Doca Tours with an interest in joining the Colorful Uzbekistan tour in October and received a response from its owner (Oybek) in less than 24 hours with detailed explanation of the tour. He also answered every single one of my questions patiently (I had many) and made some suggestions on how to make my solo trip enjoyable. The rest of the process, from signing up to payment, went smoothly. Oybek was super responsive, Then came tour which I can say was one of the most fantastic trips I took. There is so much to learn, see and appreciate about Uzbekistan. I had an amazing tour experience thanks to the tour guides I got for each location arranged by Doca Tours. They were knowledgeable, kind, caring and fluent in English. The driver I had was exceptional as well. He did not speak as much English as the guides but was so caring and always had a smile on his face. Most importantly he drove me safely from one destination to the next. Throughout my tour, the owner Oybek whatsapp me making sure everything is ok. If that is not exceptional service , I don’t know what is. I would highly recommend that you sign up with Doca Tours if you want to visit the mesmerising country of Uzbekistan. Read less

My dream trip to Uzbekistan

06-Nov-2019

I had wanted to visit Uzbekistan for many years, but I never found the right tour for me and I felt slightly anxious about travelling alone there. With the help of Responsible Travel, I found out about Doca Tours. Madaminjon organised a personalised tour for me which fitted my interests. Additionally, my phenomenal guide - Bobir - was not only well-informed and professional, but also made me feel welcome in his country. I felt incredibly safe with and without my guide. I had different but equally wonderful experiences: I ate berries fresh from the tree (a real treat from a city woman), visited holy sites of all 3 monotheistic religions and sampled the most delicious tomatoes in the land. People are friendly, honest and fun. Every encounter was a delight and another window into the beauty Uzbekistan. An experience to remember. I was so impressed by the organisation and professionalism of Doca Tours. I'll definitely travel with them again. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Service

08-Jun-2019

If you want to get to know Usbekistan, DOCA Tours certainly is the right adress for you. Not only does the owner, Oybek, know everything about the country, he also speaks several languages fluently. We booked a transport from Samarkand to Buchara with DOCA Tours. Despite the short notice (I only contacted Oybek one evening before!) everything went super smooth and at all times professional. Oybek welcomed me in his newly renovated and super modern office in Samarkand, took the time to have chat with me and gave me valuable travel advice. We had a modern car with AC and a very friendly driver, who drove carefully and even stopped on the way with us, because we wanted to eat Usbeki food along the road (his recommendation was great!). We safely and comfortably arrived in Buchara and Oybek stayed in contact with us and even organized an extraordinary dinner for us in Buchara in the Jewish quarter. All in all, we can only very strongly recommend DOCA Tours and wish Oybek all the best!
