Tour Overview

Val di Fassa lies between Marmolada (3,343m), the Dolomites' highest peak, and Catinaccio (2,965m), the famous long ridge that glows red in the rising sun. Based in the lovely village of Campitello, we are ideally situated to access neighbouring valleys and discover their attractive villages. We walk along jagged limestone spires towering above and through lush green valleys carpeted with a profusion of alpine flowers. With excellent chairlift, cablecar and bus links, we are able to access a huge variety of walks, thus allowing us to offer two grades of walking on each departure.

Highlights

  • Exceptional trails

  • Moderate and challenging walks

  • Views of the Marmolada

Passed down from father to son, Sport Hotel Enrosadira is a three-star hotel in the village of Campitello. Those same peaks make a beautiful backdrop for this hotel and you can enjoy lovely views from the large terrace. Elsewhere, there’s a sauna, bar, and lounge with comfortable armchairs to relax in the evenings. Wifi is available in the communal areas. There’s also a restaurant serving a mix of local and Mediterranean cuisines.

Reviews from Travellers on this Tour

Superb trip

You get out of something what you put in, and that is 100% the case for this holiday. The walking was challenging but so rewarding in terms of scenery and atmosphere. The weather was excellent bar one afternoon and the leaders (Paul and Louise) and the other people on the trip made the holiday outstanding. Plus, finally, the fact that you're in Italy - what more could you ask for.

Highlights of the Dolomites

Everyone has their own way of relaxing on holiday. Mine is a physical challenge and the hikes in the Dolomites fulfilled that purpose. The choice of levels were ideal so you could switch between them depending on your energy levels. The group dynamics always seem to work well on these hiking holidays as walkers and nature lovers are great people to be with. Our base in Moena was charming. Be prepared for mountain food which is heavy on the carbs, MEAT & cheese. The refugios in the mountains for lunch stops are brilliant. The best pizza and hot chocolates! Expect every type of weather...it's the mountains after all. Every adventure starts with a tentative first step into the unknown, take yours into the stunning scenery of the Dolomites.

Highlights of the Dolomites

You really have to go on this trip! The scenery is amazing with a mixture of dramatic mountains and green hills. Lovely family run hotel with very high class rooms and food. Great leaders (Emily and Eric) who are very experienced and helpful and really want you to have a great holiday.

Great hikes in a beautiful part of the world

A very enjoyable week's hiking in a truly spectacular part of the world. We had wanted to visit the Dolomites for some time and the Val di Fassa did not disappoint. The pretty towns and villages sitting in the valleys are surrounded by majestic mountains, not least the imposing Marmolada, and the backdrop is really is awe inspiring. The great advantage of this trip for us was the dual grades, enabling you to pick and choose a level 3 or level 5 walk. We chose level 3 on all but one of the days, and unlike level 3 walks we had been on in the past, they provided fantastic views of the surrounding area and a good amount of ascent to get the blood pumping. The level 5 walks tended to involve more ascent and fewer refreshment breaks, and also negotiated trickier ridges and ledges. All the walks made use of the excellent cable cars, chairlifts and gondolas throughout the valley to gain height as well the local buses. These got pretty busy since it was peak holiday season, so on a couple of occasions we made early starts to beat the crowds. Although breakfast was a rush, it was well worth it. The Hotel Enrosadira was clean and comfortable, although the rooms were quite small. The friendliness and efficiency of the staff made up for this, and the buffet breakfast and evening meals were very good indeed. The hotel was a few minutes walk to the centre of Campitello were you can find a supermarket, bars, bakeries etc. A special mention must be made for the mountain refuges, or huts. These are dotted about the mountains and both level 3 and 5 walks frequented these for refreshment and lunch stops. I was surprised at the standard of the food and facilities of these considering their remote nature. I recommend taking along some extra cash and trying out some of the local dishes, particularly the Kaiserschmarrn!

highlights of the Dolomites

This walking holiday was excellent, We were very well situated in the Val de Fassa for the local bus and all the gondolas and chair lifts. Most of the walks started at the top of a lift so the scenery was spectacular all of the time. We were very lucky with the weather but even so it would be difficult not to be impressed with the area. We had a choice of a grade 3 or grade 5 walk each day and we chose to stick to the grade 3 which was strenuous but without any scary bits! Every walk was different in scenery and terrain so always interesting. The shortest walk was 7 miles and the longest 11 miles but it was not rushed. The hotel good and had everything you need and their food was great and plentiful. It was situated in the centre of the small town of Campitello which had a supermarket and quite a lot of outdoor shops (handy if you forget to bring and important bit of kit) and quite a few bars and restaurants.

Stunning Views & Great Craic

Having completed the Camino last year, with Exodus, we decided to take on the challenge of the Dolomites and certainly weren't disappointed. The scenery was stunning, the group were great fun, the leaders really professional and the hotel was just perfect. The routes are graded 3 & 5 with 5 tending to be longer and higher ascents and descents. In truth, both have their challenges but both so rewarding. Having said that we had a varying age group and everyone was able to cope very well. The terrain can be a little rough at times so good boots and I would definitely recommend a pair of poles. The transport to access the routes (buses, cable cars and chair lifts) were very punctual and not too crowded. Be prepared to pay 76 euro. The hotel was superbly run by Stephano, Grabrielle and their staff. Evening meals went like clockwork and although they were extremely busy the staff always had a greeting and a smile. We would certainly recommend the trip ,for the hotel, the scenery and the organisation by Exodus.

Highlights of the Dolomites

a superb walking area (exceeded my expectations) Good value for money with the standard of the hotel. The trip was well organised with top quality guides

WALKING IN THE WESTERN DOLOMITES

Walking, accommodation (especially the food) and leaders all excellent - BUT Exodus really shouldn't run the trip as late as mid-September - the winter timetable had started a week earlier so some cable cars weren't running, and unexpected heavy snow led to others being shut down - because of this the leaders had to work very hard to find alternative walks and it is to their great credit that they managed to do so.

WALKING IN THE WESTERN DOLOMITES

A fab trip - amazing scenery, great company, lovely food, hotel and spa and a very enthusiastic and capable guide (Eric)

Amazing Dolomite Trekking

Great week of level 5 trekking with amazing views. The option of swapping to level 3 if desired was available to us at each evening's debrief which was perfect. Each trek available each day was described and we could chose each evening which group we went out with. Hotel and food was simply wonderful, fabulous hosts! Would go back again in a heartbeat.
